There is an easy ,cheap ,quick fix for door handle problems, remove handle, take an eraser and gently clean contacts, maybe wipe down with Isopropyl . Did mine seven years ago last time, still works like a charm.
There's a reason you haven't seen any RUclips videos about the throttle to the floor thing. It's because it's not a thing. Your starter is not intended to be used to pre-lubricate your engine. If it were a thing, your owner's manual would tell you to do that after every oil change. There's enough oil in the oil filter to get pumped to the top of the engine almost immediately. Unless your car has sat for years, there's still going to be a light film of oil on everything that's supposed to have oil on it. Especially since synthetic oil clings to surfaces far longer than conventional oil. There's a built-in engine protection feature that won't allow your engine to be started with a wide-open throttle. It also has nothing to do with a so-called clear flood mode. This was a thing on naturally aspirated cars with carburetors. The computer controls the fuel injection and the flow of fuel. If there's no spark, you're not going to be getting fuel. There's no spark because the computer is in engine protection mode. I would think replacing an abused starter would be far more likely than repairing damage caused by lack of oil to the top end of the engine on startup. If you've ever had to replace a starter, you'll probably not want it running any longer than necessary and not for building oil pressure. Just saying.
Hi fixing that door handle problem i a simple fix, theres two screws and that touch pad will come out , take the cover off and clean the contacts and put it back in simple dimple.Let me know if that fixes it it defeinately should buddy.
The last tip is not meant to pre-lubricate your engine. Its called clear flood mode, its meant to allow the fuel to exit the combustion chamber when it gets "Flooded" with fuel.
@@TheCorvettedez No, turning an engine at 150rpm by starter does not cause the same wear as running it at 1200rpm with all the un-lubricated parts hammering into each other by combustion. Lol.
ALSO ; There's a place inside the glove box to place the key-fob in order to START the car if the key-fob battery dies. AND ; I noticed that if i left my cell plone charger plugged-in , it would cause some kind of interference and not allow the doors to unlock from the outside.
I have a 07 yellow C6Z06 And you're right about the door latch pad not responding fast enough to open the door If someone is chasing me with a knife i could not depend on my c6 door opening to save my life
I have an 08 Vortex yellow vette. Aslo I'm a school Certified Locksmith the fastest way to open the c6 is to airwedge the door, and use a long reach tool, or thin long metallic rod to reach the manual door latch between the door and lower front part of the seat.
A cool mod I figured out was that if you drill out the rivets to the manual key mechanism above the license plate, there is a space you can relocate and re-rivet it and a C7 OEM backup camera snaps perfectly into the empty square slot. It was one of the first mods I did to mine as well as adding an aftermarket head unit since mine was a 2005 with no screen.
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 mine do not but I think that is because of the aftermarket head unit I have. It just has cones that pop up on the screen that I can adjust. I mean I had been driving it without a backup cam for awhile so i'm use to it so at least being able to see more from the screen is good enough for me, would be cool to have that feature although if you have an OEM unit it may still work, not sure though.
The "clear flood mode" is on many cars. The aggravating door handle is a 10 minute fix. Unscrew the handle assembly and clean/lightly sand the contacts. No more aggravation.
I just watched another video on cleaning the contacts and it worked great! You can do both door in just a few minutes and mine now work like brand new on my 2007 C6. You just remove 2 Phillips screws on the inside edge of the door, slide out the little touch assembly, separate the rubber touch-pad from the contact board and clean it with electrical contact cleaner until all of the copper strips inside shine like. Use some dielectric grease (if you don't have some buy some) and smear a very small amount on the copper strips before reassembling. Since your passenger door gets use it's always the first one to quit. It's embarrassing when some smoking hot little momma who's ready to ride can't get into your stud-mobile because you're too lazy to fix your freaking door lock and you look like a complete douche bag. Fix your door opener touch pads. You'll be glad you did.
I didn’t know about the oil thing but tried it on my c6 and it worked, thanks for that info. About the trunk release I knew about and the key trunk release is there to get into your car when your key fob is dead, you have a door release in the trunk to open the door and in the glove box area you insert the dead key for so you can start the car and drive until you replace the key fob battery.
Door handle fixes a very simple repair. Either replaced the latch pad Or scuff up the copper contacts on the part you "squeeze" when the door. (2) screws remove this.
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 The way to clean the contacts on the door pad is to use a pencil eraser or a small piece of Emory cloth or ultra fine sandpaper, then spray contact cleaner to all over the guts of the pad to wash out all debris. Though I'm sure before long I will as they are now getting a bit worn, that and the new ones are dirt cheap. Bear in mind my car isn't a daily driver, I only put around 1500 miles a year on it
The door pad can be cleaned. Remove and disassemble. You will find think metal contacts inside. Clean the contacts. You will likely find the contact has release from the rubber membrane. This can be repaired with some silicone caulk or rubber contact cement. Don’t cover the contact as it has to complete the circuit when pressed. However the repair will likely be short lived (3-6 months maybe). It will by you some time while your waiting on a replacement pad. If the contacts haven’t separated from the membrane then cleaning maybe all you need. Any metal polish or fine grit sand paper will do the trick.
A pencil eraser also works great for cleaning the contacts, them spray contact cleaner on the pad/circuits to wash it out, allow it to dry and if you want, put a little dab of dielectric grease on the contacts.

Thread the fishing line back to there. Make a loop to put your finger thru. Pull on the line & There's your Emergency Shifter unlock.
Haha heck yeah that’s def an interesting way to fix it.. but my fix is being a manual haha, I’ve never heard of that but I also have never driven an auto c6
It depends on the year.. the first year or couple of years the auto was a 4 speed which sucked lol.. but newer ones came with 6 speed auto and it’s faster than the manual
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 ok hey thanks for responding back and ok so your saying the automatic is faster than the manual but only if it's the 6speed Auto and not the 4speed version... I read up on that case a year or two ago where the man died from overheating because he didn't know about the manual door latch. Very sad, and I wonder how many people still don't know about the manual latches.
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 Also it could be your battery's charge level, when my battery was weaker, my doors opened very slowly and they were hesitant. I plugged the battery in a trickle charger and when it reached 100 percent, the doors opened much faster. Good luck.
An even easier and more effective solution is to just replace the door latch entirely. It's GM Part Number 22751230 and can usually be found for less than $20. I replaced both handles on my C6, it literally took a screwdriver and a couple of minutes!
My #2 key fob operates normally; however, my #1 key fob will often fail to unlock the driver's door if I have the fob in my right pants pocket when standing close to the car as you would when you open the door with your right hand. For some reason if I turn away from the car and open the door with my left hand the fob is now a couple of feet away from the door and it opens as it should. Odd, but that's what I've discovered. Too close won't work but at a range of two or three feet, the fob functions OK.
sad cause all the guy who died had to do if he didnt know about the manual door latches was if it was a convertable unlatch his roof and push up on it or if it was targa top unlatch the piece and take it off and he would of lived
I’m not sure why it would be dinging… I’m not sure how to cut that off… I know the auto lock feature can be turned off in the settings and the beep the horn makes when it locks
Thanks for the tip! I actually have had my 2007 since 2010 and I wasn't aware of this switch either. I only knew about the key above your license plate to unlock it if your battery fails.
You mentioned about the manual latch. I had a co-workers dad passed away from being stuck in his vette. It was in Texas and it was hot inside. The dad and the dog passed. The dad did not know about the manual latch. That was the first thing I looked for when I bought mine and made sure it worked.
There is another way to open the driver side door. It's located inside the car on the driver side rear fender under the carpet. It's a cable door release.
How’s that radio work? Want to get rid of my stock double din unit. The sound is not great and seems way too low volume wise even though I have perfectly healthy Bose speakers which was an upgrade with the 3LT trim package.
I love my radio, I've had it for 4 years and it still doesn't seem too outdated. it has adjustments for noise levels and also a hookup for a backup camera and front camera's. never had an issue with it and it also till has a cd player
I would start by removing the door pad and taking it apart to clean the contacts inside… sometimes they get grimes and that causes it to not work as good… or it could be the actual door release motor itself, if so you would need to replace it. Not too bad just have to remove the door seal plastics and you can get right to it
Lube mode is a beast did it today for the first time Battery died and haven’t driven it in weeks lol went got a new one installed it Horn went crazy! Lol Got that figured out tho lol Hit lube mode and was like well damn he was right lol
There is a handle in the hatch to manually open the door when batt dies. The top of the fob has an emergency key that goes in back by the hatch release you showed.
I'm on my third C6 and my first two which were each Z06's never gave me any trouble with regard to the door lock. My 2011 Grand Sport routinely gives me hell while trying to get in. It is so damned frustrating!
It aggravates me bc I know how to do it just right almost everytime.. passenger's ALWAYSSSS struggle tho bc they aren't used to it. Almost always have to just open the passenger door from the driver's seat lol
the opening pads are replaceable for cheap. Amazon has oem gm ones for like 20$ each. I've done both sides and now they work correctly every time. no more fiddling around for it to unlatch.
The door latch has electronic contacts that get corroded and make it difficult to open. I cleaned them and it worked for awhile but still ended up being fussy. Just bought new ones for under $10 and it was an easy install. Not worth cleaning imo.
If you're having trouble opening your door, it could be embarrassing sometimes... Take off the pad and take it apart and just clean everything with a rag and a bit of wd40. Should work just by looking at it!! Had mine for 6 years and untill yesterday I did it (knew about this trick for years). I kick myself on the head for not doing this earlier.
you can do this but i found they still do not work as good as new but much better than before cleaning you can buy a pair of oem pressure pads for 35$ -best way to go
The door handle sensor pads need to be cleaned annually, it's easy just a couple of screws, alcohol, q tips, fine sand paper or scotch brite pad and reinstall it will be like new.
Your right they need maintained annually. Also the z06 has grease fittings on the rear on the suspension, failure to grease every other oil change or sooner if you use as a daily driver. The rear end will make a weird squeaking noise when you hit dips and bumps in the road and in cold weather and it will go away after 10 minutes so. Greasing the rear end fittings will stop it unless it is too far gone.

The door handles are annoying and frustrating, I also was locked in the car I'm 120 degree weather and was unaware of the manual handles. It was not my car yet. I probably looked funny during my panic freak out to escape.
There are also emergency pulls in the back hatch of the car, if the battery is dead and you need to get in the car, use your key to open the hatch, locate the pulls cables, give one a yank and that will open the door.
Despite what other videos tell you, it makes no difference unless you punch it hard enough to make the tires spin.. regular mode/ will keep it from spinning Competitive driving mode/ will let you spin until you get too sideways then it cuts power Hold for 5 secs it cuts traction and active handling… if you spin it won’t stop you from spinning iut
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 that is awesome information that I didn't know - thank you so much. Is active handling the same as traction control (e.g. regular mode)?

The dimming so that you don't get blinded by somebody's head lights and headlights are used at night. An even easier and more effective solution is to just replace the door latch entirely. It's GM Part Number 22751230 and can usually be found for less than $20. I replaced both handles on my C6, it literally took a screwdriver and a couple of minutes!
Yeah I tried that and in my case it was the actual door latch not just the pads haha
Fun fact. With lube mode my 05 Tahoe does that as well. Might be a feature all the gen 3 and 4 sbc ecu’s have
Gotcha! Pretty cool they have it too.. idk why but I really like that lol
sad cause all the guy who died had to do if he didnt know about the manual door latches was if it was a convertable unlatch his roof and push up on it or if it was targa top unlatch the piece and take it off and he would of lived
yes, for sure it must've been terrible. so many ways out
Great video brother believe me 75% of c6 owners don't know all of this
Haha thank you much brother!
Dude if you take the door handle pad apart and use a scotch bright pad and clean the contacts your door will open way easier
Oh yeah I have done that before, but in my situation it didn’t help the actual latch was worn iut
Interesting Video. I have a question. When I open the driver's door is a Sound (bim bim) how can I disable this?
I’m not sure why it would be dinging… I’m not sure how to cut that off… I know the auto lock feature can be turned off in the settings and the beep the horn makes when it locks
i just did the lube mode bro and you where right i have my z06 sutting for months ....thanks brothe you got a sub
Awesome I’m glad to hear that! Thanks for the sub!!
I’ve had my C6 for nine years and to be honest never knew about the hatch release above the license plate, thanks.
Thank you for sharing, I get a lot of hate on that one bc most people know about it.. but if I helped one person that’s enough haha🤟🏻🤟🏻
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 Well it helped me. Yet another reason to keep the FOB in my pocket…🤗
Awesome brother!! And I heard that😂😂🙌🙌
Thanks for the tip! I actually have had my 2007 since 2010 and I wasn't aware of this switch either. I only knew about the key above your license plate to unlock it if your battery fails.
@@mitchellbarse1963 Same here. Had my 08 since 12 and just found out about that button after watching this video.
That lube mode is great never heard of it! I have a 2006 Yellow c6 myself! Thanks for the tips!
Absolutely thanks for checking out the video🤟🏻🤟🏻
Nice yeah some of these. I didnt know and ive had my gs for almost 2 years now
Yeah the lube mode thing i didn't know and I've had mine for almost 4 years
I HAVE A 09 CONVERTIBLE SO WHEN I GET HOME I'M GOING TO CHECK ALL THIS OUT HOW COOL
I didn't believe believe the "lube" mode until I tried it for myself🤣
C6 2006 how to program the seat exit function. How do you get the seat to slide back every time you?
Make sure the parking brake is pulled up if in a manual and it should automatically move the seat backward when the car is turned off
I just bought an 05' YELLOW C6 with 11,994 ORIGINAL MILES on it, but that button DEFINITELY does NOT open my trunk...
Competition yellow was always a nice color for c6's and c5's
I’m not sure on the c5 but the yellow on the c6 is actually called velocity yellow
C5's were Millinnium yellow, as was the 2005 C6
I have a 2005 c6 corvette and my rear hatch will not open the way you showed on yours. Are there different options?
The electronic button won’t work? Just order a new latch
I have a 2007 C6 Corvette that I have trouble with my right door latch 0utside want open sometime do you know what it mite be thank you
I would start by removing the door pad and taking it apart to clean the contacts inside… sometimes they get grimes and that causes it to not work as good… or it could be the actual door release motor itself, if so you would need to replace it. Not too bad just have to remove the door seal plastics and you can get right to it
Lube mode is a beast did it today for the first time
Battery died and haven’t driven it in weeks
lol went got a new one installed it
Horn went crazy! Lol
Got that figured out tho lol
Hit lube mode and was like well damn he was right lol
Haha heck yeah dude🤣 I originally read it on a forum and I was like there is no way... then it worked and I was like yep he was actually right🤣🤣
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 😂
There is a handle in the hatch to manually open the door when batt dies. The top of the fob has an emergency key that goes in back by the hatch release you showed.
lube mode ...thank you , mine does sit for weeks sometime. was not in the owners manual
Yeah I couldn't find it in there either.. definitely a good thing to know!!
Ron, that’s not what it does. It’s for when motor is flooded
Yeah I need to order some again, I have done it one time but I guess from daily driving her for 2 years they wore out quicker than normal
Is there a shift light in any of the HUD modes?
I don’t believe so.. you think I would know but I just have the speed only up in my HUD
Yes just change the mode for h.u

The door latch has electronic contacts that get corroded and make it difficult to open. I cleaned them and it worked for awhile but still ended up being fussy. Just bought new ones for under $10 and it was an easy install. Not worth cleaning imo.
Can I get a link to these?? I just bought a 2008 c6 and the passenger door is terrible to try and open
@@keanuwadley6298 I think I ordered them at Rock Auto or eBay. It's been years.
Thanks bro. My z06 stopped doing this automatically. I think it was tuned that way. I hope it works when i try it in the morning.
No problem and thanks for the watch 🤟🏻
If you're having trouble opening your door, it could be embarrassing sometimes...
Take off the pad and take it apart and just clean everything with a rag and a bit of wd40.
Should work just by looking at it!!
Had mine for 6 years and untill yesterday I did it (knew about this trick for years). I kick myself on the head for not doing this earlier.
Yeah I have cleaned it before, it’s not hard.. ended up being the battery in my key fob.. but yes.. def can be embarrassing trying to open c6 doors🙄
you can do this but i found they still do not work as good as new but much better than before cleaning you can buy a pair of oem pressure pads for 35$ -best way to go
The door handle sensor pads need to be cleaned annually, it's easy just a couple of screws, alcohol, q tips, fine sand paper or scotch brite pad and reinstall it will be like new.
Rear view mirror has the light sensor in it for the Auto dim function
Ah that makes sense haha
the ford mustangs has that feature too for the oil pressure.
My 2012 mustang gt does the same thing crank but no start if you hold the gas pedal to the floor while trying to start it
I guess it is more common than I thought originally lol 😆
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 probably just a sports car thing
Yeah probably, cool feature though no matter what it's in haha

Hey bro, I'm in Asheville. Where are you?
Wassup and Thomasville nc, Ab 20 mins south of Greensboro
About all Gm cars goes to no fuel mode if you push gas pedal to the floor when starting 🤣
What cam are you r running & where in nc you at. I'm right between Salisbury & statesville. Running a Tick stg 3 polluter cam.
That’s the exact cam I ran my last setup, I run a tick stage 2 blower cam now with no blower lol.. but I live in Thomasville

FYI - lube mode is also "flood mode" - clear flooded cylinders
Haha yeah that is true🤙
I was going to comment this.. every gm fuel injected car even back to the 80s do this. it's call clear flood mode. goes back to the old carb days where you'd flood it and have to hold the throttle wide open to clear the flooded cylinder.
honestly never thought of using it to prime the oil after sitting lol. so still a good tip.
Yeah I’ve had a few people tell me that haha, but yep it works great for that too😂 hahaha
Do you know if the lube mode works on a LS7? I have a 07 c6 z06
I have not tried on a z06 but I would assume that it still would though
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 I was thinking the same thing ... I’m going to try it out this Sunday, I just got the car last week it just had 1740 miles when I got it, the guy I bought it from had it in his car collection, I’ll be driving it a few times a month so it will be sitting up a lot ... Wow, very informative! Thanks Tyler!!! Great video, i loved it....BTW....not only do i have the same exact year /color vette, I also hve a RED (Dodge Hemi) pickup truck!....I also own a 1978 L82 Corvette, bought it brand new in 1978( still got all the original paperwork) . Thanks for taking the time to do these videos Howard
Thanks for the kind words and wow haha we have the same exact car lol! And both are sweet rides
The electronic door open problem is usually caused by a low battery on the key fob.
Yeah most of the time, I thought the same but my actual door latch motor went out

Does that work with an automatic as well or just a manual?
I am pretty sure it works with both auto and manual trans

How many miles does it have to?
As of right now 150k
The door handles are annoying and frustrating, I also was locked in the car I'm 120 degree weather and was unaware of the manual handles. It was not my car yet. I probably looked funny during my panic freak out to escape.
Haha yes they are annoying and did you eventually find the door latches?
There are also emergency pulls in the back hatch of the car, if the battery is dead and you need to get in the car, use your key to open the hatch, locate the pulls cables, give one a yank and that will open the door.
There’s also a competitive driving mode. You cycle through the traction control button to find it.
Yep just hit the button 2 times fast and it puts you in competitive driving mode🤟🏻🤟🏻🇺🇸
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 is that on the 05 too? Does it mean less traction?
Despite what other videos tell you, it makes no difference unless you punch it hard enough to make the tires spin.. regular mode/ will keep it from spinning
Competitive driving mode/ will let you spin until you get too sideways then it cuts power
Hold for 5 secs it cuts traction and active handling… if you spin it won’t stop you from spinning iut
@@Thatsnapchatyellowc6 that is awesome information that I didn't know - thank you so much.
Is active handling the same as traction control (e.g. regular mode)?
Coral Gables 🌴🇺🇸 INTERESTING facts. Good content. Thank you 👌
Thanks for watching!🙌
Thats not lube mode it is flooded engine mode, in case you had pressure on gas pedal pushed slightly when cranking, it locks out your injectors. Most fuel injected cars do that.
Yeah there are several that do it, but not all. Most people don't know about the feature still

U can try removing your pads it’s just a couple of screws to get them off, taking it apart (also only like 3 screws.. clean the copper surfaces if dingy.. should help

Awesome!! I love to hear that!!
you need to take apart the door handle pads and clean them, then the doors will work much better
Yeah I did that about 2 years ago. I suppose its time to do it again lol maybe I'll make a video on it!
Not true the latch mechanism mounted inside the rear pillar behind the driver are defective and must be replaced entirely
its pretty easy to clean those contacts inside the door handle. Mine were bad too...
An even easier and more effective solution is to just replace the door latch entirely. It's GM Part Number 22751230 and can usually be found for less than $20. I replaced both handles on my C6, it literally took a screwdriver and a couple of minutes!

Reset temp? It went from actual ambient temp to display 65 then back to ambient.
What is resetting?
I believe it is to reset if the temp gets noticeably off, not 100% sure
Yeah number 6 is really cool. I’ve been looking into buying a 2008 C6. How much does the clutch cost to replace and since you’ve owned it how many times have you replaced it? Great vid. Keep up with the channel.
I thought so too! Haha... and I have replaced it once, not because it was gone though.. I rebuilt the engine and decided to replace it so I didn't pay labor cost 2 times. Clutch and install normally would cost around 2k or a little less for parts and labor. Thanks and will do haha also that stock clutch was still good at 130k miles.. at 510whp from 92,000 miles. I kept it as a backup lol
Headlight need to be on for dimming to work with mirror
ahhh, that makes perfect sense lol... I feel stupid now hahaha
The dimming so that you don't get blinded by somebody's head lights and headlights are used at night. So I'm just assuming if the headlights are on then car thinks its night unless it uses the sensor for automatic headlights to tell? Either or it does work i tried it last night in my c6 and the dimming turned off in reverse. You can also turn it off completely by holding down power button on rear view mirror for a few seconds.
@@John-qz4cv that's awesome man, I appreciate the comment and you checking man🤟🤟and I also didn't know you could manually cut off the rear view automatic dimming mirror

That button above the license plate to open the trunk on my 2012 doesn't work. I can hear a bit of noise though when I push it. I need to investigate that.
My left outside door release is weird too, I’m just going to replace it as I find it embarrassing to stand there trying to open my door while my passenger is already belted in.

gas also lubes cylinder walls. This is not how to start your car and think its good for lube, because the pistons are still moving when you do this but not with no gas. This feature is to clear a flooded motor.
