Recently purchased one and use it as my daily. I fixed numerous issues with mine but nothing major. Do the 3x3 trans drain and fill and don't beat on it and it will make a good commuter car with decent mpg. Last thing I'm trying to figure out is a 800 rpm drop while slowly revving to 1500rpm in park. Its mostly annoying but does fine after 1500 rpm. The interior has held up nicely for 244,000 mile car!

Yes these cars are great beater cars for sure. Could be a coil pack or something ignition related if dropping or slightly hesitating. The interior is great especially for the age.

@@secondhandspeed I had discovered 5 out of the 6 spark plugs were loose and fried #4 coil pack. I replaced all 6 coils and have better low end power but still have that annoying drop in rpms under 1000rpm. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty map sensor that doesn't throw a check engine code. The J32’s are great engines...just wish they put a proper transmission behind it though.

@@generalzod9763 well now you know the ignition system is good. IF you haven't changed the spark plugs in a while id replace them too but that depends. My 2000 5sfe Camry was giving me issues even after replacing the 2 ignition coil packs. My Plugs were worn out and plug 3 was completely black from running rich. Could be a slight vacuum leak too but these cars can be a pain to diagnose sometimes so I get it.

I completely agree with you.. I have an 03 acura tl type s, which is the 3.2L vtech, making 260 HP. With 150k on the odometer.. it's my beater have a sportscar I drive on the weekends.. but this car is absolutely phenomenal.. you just have to drive it to understand and I'm not a Honda fan boy in the least.. but it gives you the best of both worlds, sporty luxury in a time when that really wasn't a thing like it is now... super underrated car... but I will say the weak point from Honda during this generation is their transmissions.. they are absolutely garbage.. but if you can find one with a strong trans, that vtech will go 4/500k miles I've seen them.. they're phenomenal engines.. but if I may offer some criticism, do a light detail of the cars that you review .. there's a lot of dirt everywhere lol I'm js

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate any advice as that will help me improve the quality of my content. This Acura belongs to my cousin and the tranny was starting to slip but luckily it just needed a bit more tranny fluid. I agree the tranny suck in these gen Hondas but the motor are super reliable. What sports car do you have?

@secondhandspeed ya the convertibles are what most ppl have. That's what I have.. the hardtop coupe is super rare and worth a lot more than the convertible.. but they're amazing cars.. rear wheel drive handles like crazy.. stock 260hp.. I've got the GM factory tune, which pushes it to 290hp and it only weighs 2800 lbs .. the echo tech motors are awesome.. you can get about 400hp without upgrading any of the internal parts and keep the stock trans. It's a unique car, and it's a blast to drive..

@@johncollins9989 That sound like a great weekend twisty backroad car for sure. My MR2 is a blast to drive and I want to get a bit more power out of mine. I need to upgrade the suspension so it can handle a lot more around turns and be stable at higher speeds
