- Prior to the college basketball game between Texas A&M and Florida, Texas A&M realized that they had forgotten to bring their uniforms to the game and had to have an equipment manager go back to the hotel to retrieve them. This led to the game being briefly delayed for seven minutes and resulted in Texas A&M receiving a technical foul. Oddly, Florida shot the technical free throw before the opening tip meaning they started the game with a 1-0 lead.

I have actually seen this before in the NCAA tournament. The year Kentucky was an 8-seed, Kansas State the 9 seed got a technical foul because a benchwarmer dunked in warm-ups. For some reason, that resulted in a technical foul, and Kentucky started the game up 1. Kentucky went on to win that game and go on that magical run to the championship game, but I'm pretty sure it was close. I also think they changed that rule the next year because of this.
I've seen it multiple times in high school games where teams start out with a 1-0 lead before the game clock starts. Coach's don't send out the lineup cards and rosters in time before 10 minutes prior to the start of a game.
As a student manager for a D1 men’s college basketball team, this is truly my biggest nightmare. Incurring a coach’s wrath makes you want to break down in a puddle of tears, I can confirm.

I remember watching a college game about fifty years ago - I remember LaSalle was one of the teams involved- and when one team forgot uniforms they were forced to wear uniforms of another team. It might have been their opponents away unis, or it could have been unis from another team that they had in storage. It had to be a nightmare for the broadcasters because the players weren’t wearing their regular numbers.

Former D1 basketball manager - I had nightmares about this scenario. Multiple times. Prayed all the time that I never made this error. Plus, the coach I worked for has such a short fuse, I'm sweating now just thinking about it, TWENTY years later!
When I was in high school our manager for boys and girls basketball had downs syndrome. Our names and numbers were not stitched fabric. When he put the girs' uniforms in the dryer all the shirts melted together. They had to purchase brand new ones right after they had just purchased those. I felt bad for him. Trying to do the right thing and he simply didn't know.
Those dryers were no joke hot. The ones I recall were designed to dry COTTON clothes, not poly or nylon uniforms. If I remember right, the coaches never put our actual uniforms in the dryers. They washed them and laid them out. It always seemed like our practice stuff we put on everyday was a little damp!!

Why did he have the job....sounds like he honestly wasnt quallified. If he really had down syndrome why not let him bag groceries at a local super market...that's what publix does by my house. In the pre-dunk era, if the refs spotted a dunk during warm ups, that team would be assessed a technical foul. I recall a player on Denny Crum's Louisville team (the last season before the dunk was allowed in the college game) was judged dunking the ball on warm up shot and the opponent got a free throw before the tip off. Seemed awfully petty by the NCAA.
It's still illegal in warmups in high school.

Rush hour traffic in Gainesville is horrendous now. They built so many new huge apartment complexes without expanding the roads it is amazing it only took 7 minutes.

I honestly just watched it the first time with no sound thinking this was gonna be a scene out of Dodgeball. I was thinking where did those uniforms come from but turns out they were just at the hotel. Not a big deal but still a bad look for an SEC team.
