Hiya save me
In all seriousness I'm not too bummed out aside from the obnoxious price. The paint isn't horrific on mine and if I decide I don't like it on hand it shouldn't be too hard to repaint considering he's mostly dry brushed
may the hiya gods answer our prayers
Praise be HIYA!
Hiya sucks
Hiya, save US
I remember these figures originally costing $59.99 or a little more. $140 dollars is absurd for something so flawed
Inflation
@@PsychronizeThe price hike cant be that massive its more than twice the amount
@@Psychronize and greed
@elijahglasser5447 For that price not really, its an okay figure and thats a fact, if it was 80$ it would be amazing even
@@red6309 the problem is that in Japan, they do only cost 50-60 dollars, but like Psychronize said, inflation and shipping from Japan (even if you order the figure from Japan and have it shipped) is crazy expensive. The same goes for retailers who have these brought into warehouses before being shipped to buyers. The problem is all in shipping, it inflates the price so much that it’s crazy.
I hate and love that I canceled my pre-order of this figure. I hate it because I loved the movie, I love that I did because my small paycheck deserves to be spent on something else.
I cancelled my preorder too 😔. I really wanted this figure
Same. I want QUALITY for the asking price. If I have to color correct/paint a “premium” figure that’s flawed out of the box, I don’t want it.
Likewise, reluctant pre-order cancel here. I paint miniatures, but one thing I am notoriously poor at is eyes. So teeth and other quality control stuff regarding paint, I’m ok with fixing since I can cover it up. But the eyes? Well, if I get a figure with the eyes printed off the eye sculpt…that’s not something I can fix with any confidence.
Not saying it’s our job to fix things. That should be manufacturer and quality control. However, I sometimes look the other way if the figure has a great sculpt and articulation since I could never sculpt or create something like this.
I'll probably cancel mine. I got the recent release of 1999 Gamera and the paint detail is way better than the original release. I'll hope they do a reissue for this down the line, but at this price I can't settle for the poor quality in paint application.
Buy the Super7 one. It's bigger, half the price, and they actively went out of their way to make it look GOOD. They literally showed it to the director of the film and said "hey, is this good enough to release?"
SHMA, between their absurd prices and total lack of QC, is a joke of a brand at this point. With Hiya knocking each of their releases out of the park, and *actually* listening to fan feedback to improve and enhance their figures, I have no doubt they’ll become the figures of choice for collectors soon enough.
SH's newer classic releases/ decisive battle re-releases have actually been pretty solid. But their modern godzilla/ monsterverse figures have been kinda sloppy aside from the first G19, and the poster version. I sold off most of my SH monsterverse figures to replace them with the Hiya ones.
my final wars figure was honestly beautiful though tbh
Has hiya made anything Godzilla other than monsterverse? Their stuff looks insanely good for a good price, but I can’t find much, and I’m wondering if that’s just cuz they haven’t put much out yet.
@@bossbubsy56 They have a 91 Goji prototype they showed a toy show a couple months ago.
@bossbubsy56 they also announced a 54 figure as well
at this point im hoping hiya toys get all the license for all godzilla line
If I remember correctly, they did. At least for all previous toho Godzillas, and considering Super7 is working in a Minusgoji, it would surprise me if Hiya isn't working on it as welll
It will great news if that happen
@@Varfair yeah the 1995 one but it still a concept so it still long way to go
DiegoDoom: Hmm ngl even tho the eyes and sculpt is mid, I still say he’s absolutely fantastic
STR: 💀
I don't know why Diego doesn't review Hiya toys. Why not? HE also seems really lenient with SHMA.
I swear they literally pay diegodoom to speak out of his ass💀💀
@@scrubbernut8888 Every single review and figure is "absolutelyy fantastic"
Goji has qc issues crossed eyes paint apps like they used feet and is falling apart DiegoDoom states "THIS FIGURE IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC " ??!??? 💀💀⚰️⚰️
@@red6309he’s the biggest Shma glazer out there
@@apexatrovinator7510 How is he even a "figure reviewer" at this point ? In order to do that you need to be a bit more objective and list minuses and pluses and help the consumer decide, if you glaze and shill everything its just not good...and it also doesnt help consumers if he constantly repeats the same words and phrases. He isnt objective and doesnt state what is fantastic and why, why is everything fantastic ?? Give an example,go into details and explain bro..even if there is a flaw he will make it sound fantastic. I unsubbed to him and subbed to more honest figure reviewers.
140 for this is too much, even without the paint and quality issues. If it weren't riddled with aesthetic problems, 90 would be a good selling point. Sold as it is with the problems, 70~80 tops. 140 is a big ask for a figure that looks like it was dropped in mud. The sculpt is really nice though, I can see a repaint doing well, or if you're so inclined to do so, custom painting would be a cool project to make it look extra nice.
Agreed 140 is ridiculous
And they dont even have an atomic breath piece, you think with all the money they saved by never making an atomic breath they can get better quality control
@@Fentlover1minus one wouldn’t work with an atomic breath piece unless it has blue dorsal fins. With an atomic breath so unique it wouldn’t exactly work without blue fins
I literally said the same thing back when hiya release the atomic blast Godzilla figure and SHMA released some crappy night version of Godzilla because we definitely needed another 2019 monsterarts Godzilla figure. Hiya and super7(if they decide to go a bit more balls to the walls with their figures and not play it too safe) has the potential to surpass SHMA
Well, Super7's third G-man figure was godzilla melting from Godzilla vs Destroyah. So yeah, balls to the wall.
I would love it if they did a Ginza attack variant with a retooled sculpt and hopefully better paint app they usually give the revamp figure to the atomic breath version which sucks but I hope we get a battle damaged one or another base one if shin can get like 100 variants so can minusgoji
I'm hoping Hiya announces a MunisGoji release. I might cancel my SHMA order then. Thankfully BBTS is really good about returns for known quality issues.
Super 7 ultimates is also announces their godzilla minus one figure i think that good
@@enysulastri-ql7mqwell, it's just the render, the actual prototype would be very different, and of course the final product would be worse 😂
Fingers crossed as well. I can't see getting this figure.
@enysulastri-ql7mq just a render super7 has had a terrible track record with their actual godzilla figures.
@@dk6419 thanks man
This is the year of Godzilla. Toho and Monster Arts got greedy because they understood that new Godzilla fans would want this and don’t care about imperfections like collectors do. Charging so much because the figure sculpt was supervised as an excuse? Well they certainly Failed didn’t they with quality control.
Man i wish neca still had the license to make Godzilla figures, they would've knocked it out of the park for a quarter the price.
Nah I’m glad Neca is gone. Their figures got really sloppy. Time for Hiya to shine now.
Like the guy above said. Neca started to get worse with heisei goji 1994 & 1995, especially with the g19. The eyes are too goofy. And for some reason, G14 has yellow eyes?
@@ISkinFlamingos yeah but their last couple of releases (1962, 1964, and 1989) were amazing.
@@schmeatmcmeat1587 They weren’t highly detailed though. They just kinda seemed lack luster. Especially for quality control. Hiya seems to have found the sweet spot for Godzilla figures. I’m really excited to see their Heisei Era stuff they’re going to put out
@TheSciFiNut For the price of what a neca figure costs. Its either worth it or absolute steal compare to monsterarts where you have to sell 3 kidneys
Thanks for the review. The paint job of S.H. figures have always left me wanting and I often find myself fixing it, especially the teeth. You'll have to splurge to get the better non-poseable Ichiban Kuji version (I have the charging up "last one" figure) or wait for the an X-Plus sofubi whenever they decide to make one. I'm still going to get this one, just because.
Thanks for this review. I think I’ll cross my fingers and wait for Hiya. Given the critical and fan reception to GMO I can only assume that if they can make this version of Godzilla, they will and may even try to fast track it.
And hiya actually knows where to put the eyes, lol.
They actually listen to fan service! I got into goji collecting, and i refuse to get any SHMA. I'll stick with hiya.
I was expecting it to be bigger for that price! And considering the flaws, I’d pay maybe $50
I wonder if Godzilla Minus One got the same treatment as the that Night Color edition. 🔥 🔥 🔥 Otherwise nice Goji.
Lol they will get roast
Yeah, I think I'll wait to see how the Super7 release turns out or wait for Hiya to make one. I make a decent amount of money, but even I know $140 is way too much for an SH Monsterarts with no accessories and a lotto on whether or not you'll get a decent paint job. This release just feels really insulting.
This just makes me sad. Not that SHMA has ever had the best quality control - I remember my Spitfire GareGoji coming apart every time I handled him slightly rough, and my GMKGoji kept decapitating himself - but man, to see MinusGoji get even worse treatment is emblematic of Bandai's indifference towards this line. Interesting how RebirthGame got such a great figure in comparison.
with these insane prices, at this point they should just give us posable eyes
On balljoints
It really feels like Bandai/Tamashii is really slipping on their godzilla line of SHMA figures. Especially after seeing the Blue-Eyes ans Red-Eyes dragons. It's so weird that more care and effort seems to go into their nongodzila shma lines.
And don't get me started on 2019 Ghidorah. I was so disappointed that the wings had so little articulation. Then theu revealed shma Rathalos with 2 sets of semi-poseable wings and I was like "why didn't they do this with 2019 Ghidorah?" And Then Hiya Ghidorah just kinda killed shama Ghidorah
Google their new Jet Jaguar. It's probably gonna be figure of the year.
140 bucks for this is batshit insane! I would rather skip or have a better deal than pay that price for a heavily flaud figure.
And consider Hiya is in the game, I'd rather pick that, or maybe Super7, who knows.
What paint colors did your friend use to repaint the figure
None, hasn't been repainted
A lot of criticism, but for $140, I guess anyone will want to scrutinize it.
Thanks for estimating the value.
I appreciate the effort -doing all the fins and joints for the tail is tough even 8f it is not a total success.
It would be great to see other companies jumping in to make this figure.
Diego doom paid $85 for his. His prices always seem low. Try Mandarake.
This figure is “Minus quality” but when hiya makes this figure it will be Minus price.😊
Thank you for this and everyone who mentioned hiya, i didn't know about their line of figures. While i love my sh monsterarts godzilla 2002, i was shocked at the low quality and density of legendary godzilla vs kong. For the price, you get a t shaped barbell with incredibly thin plastic draped over it, i was so excited to finally get one and expected great quality for the price, but alas was very disappointed when i opened it, especially compared to the neca versions. The designs of the sh monsterarts are great, but for the price, you're practically getting an overpriced piece of paper excluding the tails, which i will say are very well done.
I paid less than $100 imported, absolutely zero QC issues on my copy. No loose joints, paint look fantastic, and all the tampos are properly aligned. Guess I just got lucky :)
I'm glad not preordering this one now 😂
I hope hiya will make one, i know that super7 is making this one, but i could only expect how it'll turn out seeing their previous figures.
To everyone who’s watching especially the long time collectors please stick around for this part 17:01 he is not talking out of bias but for your best interest. There’s a lot of truth being spoken here whether you want to accept it or not. No company deserves your loyalty at the expense of your hard earned money cuz God knows they won’t repay you, especially with quality and we have seen that in 4k for years now
I ended up getting the ishbano kaiju minus one godzilla even though it's not movable with articulation it's well painted and perfect to the movie sculpt.
I got this figure and I love this figure, but I paid like 40 dollars more for 4 day shipping from Japan
atp they might as well just start taking notes from hiya
Spot on. Thanks for the honest review! Rant is exactly what myself and so many have been feeling in the community. Love it.
cancelling my preorder. this figure should be PERFECT for $140.
Just got my Minus One in yesterday, and a tiny tip of the biggest spine had snapped off in transit, so I had to do emergency surgery with a dab of gorilla glue and some tweezers. The left wrist is also really weak, the hand easily falling off if you're not really really careful. I like the sculpt, and the articulation is crazy (I've got him in that "roaring at a mushroom cloud" pose), but it feels so fragile, so I'm scared to even touch it.
For the three dorsal plates, I’ll put Kiki’s Joint Fix so they won’t pop out. They’ll be moving around, but they’ll stay in place.
Movie was amazing can't wait 2 c it again but this bad boy costing $140 is very painful. I can't wait 2 c what the others look like especially Hiya. And hopefully u r able 2 get a Ghidorah from Hiya really wanna c that guy n action! That fact that the wings r able 2 move is just awesome 2 me
Waiting on my shipping invoice for the Hiya Ghidorah!
My jaw dropped when his hands went in and it looks so much smaller, especially with that price
Im actually surprised this guy is selling out as US stores! And I went to see if I could order him from Japan, the the prices are insane.
Finally got mine in and honestly I'm way happier with it than I thought I'd be. I guess I got lucky in the QC department because my details are great by SHMA standards. Definitely hard sell at the $140 mark but for what I paid for mine, I'm pleased with it. I think the figure just feels better than a lot of other Bandai figures, has a nice heftiness to it as opposed to the cheap hollow feel a lot of their figures typically have. As great as 72' Gigan is, the feel of those sails put the fear of the Lord in me. Same goes for the MH wing pieces.
Thanks for tempering my expectations as per usual with these.
This is why I love your reviews so much. HONESTY. Thanks, I’ll definitely wait for a better option for the $$$$$ 🦖
This is giving me the very first monsterarts release vibes. Their eye prints/paint apps were all wonky.
Lol That figure is better than like the last 6 shma releases
minus goji is basically just a slightly different looking heisei godzilla, something they've have more than enough practice making.
ichibanso and super 7 looking really good rn
Hey @Steven'sToyReviews are you saying the Super7 will be out by the end of this year? Oryou saying September 2024 when you say end of the year?
I like that Godzilla figure. It moves very well, so I played around with it by recreating movie scenes with stop-motion videos. 😄
12:37 BEAUTIFUL SPREAD
Appreciate your depth reviews.
Nice reveal at 1:36 with the fading effect, amazing figure, I need this on my shelf. Respect yourshelf.
greeeat review, very complete and i appreciate to have 2 figures to compare.
i'm for sure will wait for hiya
After watching your review and many others I I was very worried about the QC when I ordered mine, but having mine in hand I think I lucked out. Dirt dry brushing seems very subtly compared to a lot of what I’ve seen and the eyes and teeth seem to be fine. With those issues subsided I gotta say I love the figure!
EXCELLENT review. As someone who only started buying modern Godzilla figures with Super7's line, I am very curious what Hiya and Super7 are able to do with Minus One Goji. With that said - I have SHMA Minus One on preorder. it will be my first SHMA figure.
I hope there will be a bootleg version that have a good chance to be better than the original
Wow what a great price for a great figure!!! Everyone should be adding this to their collection!! I know I am !
I picked this one up recently and man am I glad that I didn't get the issues you mentioned in the video. eyes look great on mine and the way they painted the details to pop out wasn't too over the top in most areas. Still gonna go in and do a bit of repaint but definitely agree with you when it comes to SHMA's current lack of Quality Control, for the price id expect a good product
Very good video Steven!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. This is my first video that I have seen of yours. 💯💪
100% waiting on the Hiya. Haven’t bought a SH Monsterarts since the 1954 Release.
They’re probably not gonna do one
i wish neca still had the rights to godzilla. i know their figures werent the best of quality but for the price they were pretty good for me. I feel like neca would do alright with this guy but hiya definitely needs to step in
Heisei used to be my old favorite design Godzilla design but this is now my favorite so either way im going to get this
One of the best videos ever thanks for telling us what to buy and what not to buy
Looks cool
Oh my, I love the movie and was close to buying one - thanks, for the saving.
Well, time to pray to the HIYA gods for a Minus Goji!
Awesome Godzilla figure
CORRECTION: GHIDORAH IS NOT RELEASED IN CHINA!!! I LIVE IN CHINA AND I CHECKED EVERY FIGURE STORE IN MY AREA THAT SOLD HIYA GODZILLA PRODUCTS, IT’S NOT RELEASED YET!
I like this design, reminds me of heisei godzilla from the waist up. Honestly with the eyes qc and such i may just go with the ultimates one. I know those figures get a lot of hate but i really enjoy the ones i have.
Finally saw Minus One and, yeah… The movie was great! Will definitely wait for the Hiya Toys release and see how it looks and articulates.
now i cant wait to see what the 72 figure looks like
I just wish they're to scale with other Godzilla figures. But it looks great. 👍
It feels like the Tamashii quality isn't consistent. Sometimes good, sometimes less than stellar, to put it nicely. As someone who got this early, I'd say this is more expensive than it needs to be for a size that's not as large as Shin but costs almost the same.
I won't be getting any future colour variation or heat ray version since it's gonna cost more than this, and judging from other companies giving this a shot, they are probably better options and cheaper to boot.
I definitely didn't know that the dorsal fin moving behind the neck is a feature and not loose parts. There's no indication on the box and no instruction sheet is given nowadays. Not to mentioned when I pop the smaller fin back, any slight touch will pop it right out. But I used regular glue and not super glue, so it's not permanent. At least I don't need to worry about it getting lost to the void.
Glad i saw this. I saw the movie and really wanted this. But after this review i’m glad i havent pulled the trigger
At least you guys get to watch this movie. No idea how long i'd have to wait because of their weird no worldwide release strategy.
I'm definetly only getting this if I can get it for cheap. Might need to learn how to do touch up paint
I really liked this figure
I really hope Hiya Toys makes some Godzilla Minus One figures, and the same goes for 1954, 1984, GMK, and Shin
I'm hoping for Shin as well and possibly Godzilla 98.
This makes me curious about the super7 figure now
I fell like I want to get it anyway, the movie was so great that it makes up for all the flaws of the figure. By far the best godzilla film ever created. It was perfect
You review presentations are really good, thorough and interesting, well done sir
I didn't get the figure so I can't really be sure but it seems the sculpt on the eye is not smooth, which explains why it would be so difficult to paint. Also from experience, painting the eyes on a 6 inch figure after the whole head is made is incredibly difficult. The clearance is just too small to render any sort of realistic detail in there. The only way to do this in mass production that I can think of is to make the skull in two parts. That way the artist can still paint the eyes or put in a sticker of sorts before the top part of the skull is attached. The sculpt is great, the paint is horrible. Now I feel bad for not getting one. It would have made for a nice repaint video! Nice review as always. 🥰
I liked their Gigan '72 despite its fragility, but their QC is just too inconsistent for me to want to buy from them regularly, especially for the pricepoint.
I plan to go for the super 7 minus 1 godzilla.
I have a choice to pick to between Minus One vs Hiya King Ghidorah to get rn. I feel like I should skip Minus One and get the Ghidorah..
so i found out how to fix it just paint it slightly more charcoal black + some charcoal brown + grey and there ya go the color of minus one
Thanks for the revivew. Im happy i didnt PO the figure.
I think Monsterarts are being creative with those Movable spikes on Godzilla minus one and Godzilla 1972! "BUT" The situation is So.....Easy to fix for the Tamashii Figure Line! Godzilla has three rows of spikes going down his back Right well, One row of Godzilla spikes going down to the tip of his entire back and tail, All Tamashii needs to do to the very top of Godzilla movable upper spike is to Reposition that movable spikes slightly to the right or left, Depending on the lower spike just below the movable spike that isn't movable. Re, Reposition the movable spike the opposite of the non movable spike below that movable one. That way the spikes connecting together don't hit each other no matter how much Godzilla wants to rest his head on his back! Tamashii don't need to make Anything movable when it comes to movable spikes! Now for both the other rows of Godzilla spikes the same way as the middle section. Slightly move the movable spikes to the left or right and keep it that way so when Godzilla lifts his Head or neck there's NO need for any movable small spike parts. I just think Tamashii is being Lame for making this Easy situation harder then what it needed to be OMFG 🙄🙄😒 The same goes with the Sh monsterarts Godzilla 1972 and his movable spike on his back neck, apply the same thing and there you go! Godzilla can move his neck way up without hitting any spike if the movable spike just reposition the movable spike slightly to the right or left and that's it! Don't need Any Moving small pieces of crappy rolling back spikes! In the Statue Game, we want Godzilla spikes to be reposition slightly like this because it's called a Rubber Suit. Godzilla spikes are supposed to be crock it or shape weirdly like this to make the monster look more suit-like! Remember that Sh Figuarts Browser where his hair can move slightly back so his head can lean slightly up or the head of browser can move forward and the whole figure of Browser look like he broke head head on his body lol Call the News We got a hinge so browser can move his head back Slightly! Lol Naw!
Yeah… I’m gonna cancel my pre order, hopefully Hiya plans to make a MinusGoji
Why tho it's looks so good I might save up for it
If I end up getting a minus one godzilla for display I'll just end up getting the inevitable x-plus statue. The dollar is strong vs the yen right now and I've yet to be disappointed with one. I get people may want the poseability though.
Very thorough review. I gave up on the SHMA line sometime around the '02 Goji dropping, because the quality of the figure was so ridiculously far below what the original reveal photos advertised. That, and they (imo) totally botched Showa MechaG both in sculpt and paint job. For the price they're charging, it is absolutely not worth keeping up with the line unless you are a diehard fan with tons of money to burn.
I’m still thinking that if I should really get sh monsterarts Godzilla minus one figure I really love this Godzilla design but I don’t know if it worth it to get
Hiya Toys knocked their Legendary Godzilla outta the park-I learned about it from a JobbyTheHong review-, and I'm under the impression that the rest of their Monsterverse lineup is gonna be as killer.
what a great figure!
I watched this movie today (GTC Riverwatch Cinemas 832 Cabela Drive, Augusta 30909). I enjoyed the film and thought it was very worth my while seeing. I would have liked to see Godzilla move faster than what he did. The storyline is noteworthy and draws empathy from the viewers as they experience the dilemma the lead characters face.
i really wonder if the Super7 MO Godzilla fig will have better painting. From what the pics show...maybe. I hope better alternatives come to this.
You can tell if there’s a problem with the figure depending on how much hard sighs he’s making
Well, I think it’s a masterpiece. Also, most SH monster arts figures never lose their value they only go up. Peter Jackson’s King Kong space Godzilla, even samara from the ring or some of the figures. You can’t really get a hold of unless you’re really need to dump a huge chunk of money.
You gotta explain why.
Also no, they do. There are some that do.
@@StevensToyReviews maybe king Ghidorah. The market for them stays pretty high because they don’t make them in huge numbers and the work that they do in the sculpting is amazing. They have a ton of articulation and if you were to buy a Custom figure like that, it be well over $500. So for the price painted finished in a box and ready to go I’m not gonna complain. I wish it was a little bit cheaper though.
I haven't bought any newer releases from SHMA and it seems like after getting the first release of Kong 2021 I don't need to buy anymore figures from them when the figures they release continue to have problems and the prices they ask for aren't worth it if they had released this and along with it a premutated Godzilla for scale retractable dorsal fins and a atomic breath effect but with the lack of accessories I seem to have more options at better pricing for it so since Super7 is doing a minus one Godzilla with a roaring head as an accessory which seems like an interesting pick up and we have the movie monsters series version of the figure as well I can skip it without trouble so If Hiya does announce they're doing one it saves us problems in the long run so Great review I am skipping monsterarts for the forseeable future until they change there pricing and lack of accessories.
Either I’ll wait for a Hiya, or see how the Super7 turns out.
Scratch that. Just wanna get this one because the Super7 looks like it’s gonna be mid and the Hiya seems to be a nonexistent prospect. I’ll just get the custom head for it to help this fugly guy shine a little more.
22:41 If they do choose to make one, Hiya is gonna have to make a figure of Minus One. They’re better at this anyway. I will say…I would LOVE for Hiya and/or SHMA to make a Pre-Mutated Godzilla. His body style makes him feel more of a godzillasaurus than the kaiju while still being a straight up kaiju.
I’m getting this😊❤❤❤
Yeah i canceled my pre order yesterday. It's way too much money for the figure having that many problems. I'll probably get Minus Goji when he goes on sale. But as of right now ima pass.
I'm very Thankful for Steven and his videos being informative as they are. I watch him and a few others to make sure the figures i do get are worth the money.
Just got my figure and they eyes are wonky as well :(
