@@StevensToyReviews And? The Event version isn't the end all be all. Given their track record for details/accuracy, they definitely forgot it for that figure as well and now only just realized it and thought to add it to GxK. Kong DID take a breath sweep in the that exact spot in the GvK movie, and given the figure is portraying the very end of the movie with the Mecha head, he SHOULD have that damage in the EE version. HOWEVER, the catch here is that Kong's back is covered by hair, THERE SHOULDN'T BE A VISIBLE SCAR for the GxK release (his front ones are fine since its bare skin). BOTH figures are inaccurate in this regard
As someone who never got the previous Kong releases I'm down for this, I like the matt finish more than the previous ones and him not having the axe when he looked like this doesn't really bother me personally.
Okay playing Devils advocate here, the reason the 2024 Kong doesn't come with the accessories the event exclusive has is because Tamashii Bandai handles web shop and event figures differently. Is this stupid and a bad buissness model they have annoyingly stuck with for years and years? Absoluteley, and now Tamashii has to make their own little work arounds or sets just to re-release some figure or accessory that debued in the Tamashii Web or Event Exclusive line. Heavy Arms Kiryu re-issue? Nope never gonna happen, but a "S.H. MonsterArts Heavy Arms Mechagodzilla Great Last Stand Final Salute MFS-3 Type 3 Ver." Web Shop Exclusive could, as long as it stays exclusive and those molds/parts never appear on a retail release. Again I think that's just a crazy way to do things, especially now that so many figures/characters from so many franchises are going straight to P-bandai. It's stupid and dumb. "the parts that come with this figure are the same as the original Kong 2021 figure. If you're wondering why none of the accessories from the event exclusive Kong are not included it is because those pieces are exclusive to that specific releaese. It's unfortunante, but this is how Tamashii Nations handles exclusives." - articulationseries via Instagram.
No, to your first point, that's not accurate. They've reissued SDCC exclusives as general product before. Sad the rest of the comment is based off that, my guy.
@@StevensToyReviews The rest of my comment? Or the rest of Articulationseries? Again I'm just going off what others have said here as I'm by no means an expert. But from what's been said, it's clear Tamashii doesn't re-issue a figure that was made for the Premium Web Shop. They re-release it with a new paint job as a work around. We see this with figures like GMK, and Mecha King Ghidorah. I'm confused as to what you mean by 'sad'? Again I'm just relaying what has been said by others and what has been clearly demonstrated throughout the years.
I wouldn't even bother Daikaijudu, Ive had this exact argument with him before on another video and he had a massive cry before deleting my comment. This dude is literally incapable of admitting he's wrong or accepting something else someone says. Common STR L for sureeeee 😭😂
8:19 it just hit me. This is the same MV beam that we got with 2014 Which is a negative because in 2014, his atomic breath was significantly weaker, do it looks more like fire than a traditional beam. From 2019 onward, the beam would be normal, but Monsterarts recycled it because LAZINESS
While not screen accurate, I personally prefer what they gave us, even it's a reused part. To me, the Atomic Breath has always been a mix of beam/flame (still in a straight line like a beam, but with all the effects of a flame breath), like what they gave us. Never cared for how wispy/weak the breath was in 2014, and didn't like how clean/lazerbeam-ish it had been in the recent Kong collab movies
@@AmorphousGoob Stating my preferences is defending the SHMA MV line when I have bought none of these? I think it looks good (or at least the best among current official offerings) its as simple as that. A movie accurate straight lazer beam would be boring as fuck for a figure, its literally just a transparent colored tube with nothing going on aside from at the ends. If they came out with a new piece looking like that you guys would still be yapping about how boring and uninspired it was. Hiya’s aint much better either, it’s a thicker flame piece and looks like he’s shooting one of those colored rock candy sticks out of a wierd mouth angle.

these are what the GvK 2021 figures should have been, these feel like catch up releases… I think both of these figures are awesome but it sucks for people who bought the 2021 figures and were disappointed to see these come out now
Bro NGl the only better one is kong but the 2021 kong special release with a bunch of acessorires is way better than this dumb kong I can do a better paint job, the godzilla figure 2024 is not good at all other than the fact they colored his mouth right and gave him atomic breath but other than that it is way worse than 2021 ,
To me, You should only get Godzilla if you: Don’t have the 2021 ver Or Don’t have a beam for a legendary Godzilla I got Godzilla even though I have the 2021 ver because the new one had better articulation, paint, and a beam that I don’t have! The only valid reason to get Kong is if you somehow missed out on the 2 2021 verions. Which as of April 13th 2024 the event exclusive Kong is still available on Amazon and is sooooooooo much better than the 2024 Kong
How many releases has Hiya done with the same mold? 2019, Charged 2019, burning 2019, 2021 as a flat upgrade to the first 2021, Translucent charged, and base form 2024. How many has SHMA done? 2019, Special blu ray 2019, burning, event all blue 2019, Charged up 2021, Night fight 2021, Charged up 2024. Possibly ones I missed with event exclusives. All with the same mold with little to no improvements, inaccurate from the start, and progressively gets worse as time goes on. People complaining that "Hiya has repaints too." are missing the point. The point being that repaints on their own aren't a mark of being lazy. Making multiple repaints of the same figure while continuing to disregard critiques as well as worsen the quality while keeping the price as high or higher than ever is the issue. And while both companies should honestly include at least one accessory with any given figure, with Hiya it doesn't sting so much due to the lower price point, and when the character Absolutely should have an accessory, they do. Have a Godzilla with glowing dorsal plates? Comes with atomic breath. Have a Ghidorah with glowing necks? Comes with gravity beams. Have a monke? Comes with axe/tree.
Exactly. Hiya's repaint aren't exactly repaint. They are literally upgrading the previous version despite being miniscule. Meanwhile SHMA figures still are as fragile as glass and have special feature of dismantling itself right out of the box when opened.
The thing that’s always bothered me with the monster versus Godzillas is the neck, mouth and chest. They never seem to get Godzilla’s robustness. His neck looks like it’s in five different pieces. And his face and mouth make him look so weak. Compare that to the Hiya Godzillas. They capture his alpha Godzilla presence perfectly.
I think the SHM Godzilla looks the way it does because Bandai pays specific talent to create a figure sculpt based on movie accurate references. So technically speaking, it’s a stylized version of Godzilla, not meant to be accurate. Hiya kept it accurate and it looks way much better on my shelf than a skinny Godzilla.
@@AmorphousGoob I see. It’s just when I put them side-by-side I just can’t get over how good the Hiya one looks compared to SHM. It’s like a Skinny Lizard next to Godzilla.
They're going to be put to the test when they make the Godzilla evolved. They have to make a new sculpture because Godzilla's body is slimmer, and his dorsal plates are also different. They also need to add the dorsal plate elbow spikes as well. The paint job detail I will be specifically be looking for is if they managed to do do pink right and add the white on the tip of the fins.
I definitely think this one. It comes with a beam accessory, plus the paint job is better. I own the GVK one and now I regret it cuz this atomic breath colour is so much prettier
I totally get the point in this video where you said "you bought these because you missed out on the 2021 figures, but the 2021 figures are still available." I know but honestly I just bought this godzilla because I like the design more than the 2021 version. Even though it can be more expensive, I'd pay an extra buck or two for a design I like better. I also don't get why people hate the figure because it's just a repaint of previous figures, calling bandai lazy. I don't think of that often I just think about the figure itself and whether it's good or not. Not focused on it being repainted.
I like how Kong looks & I, personally, have always preferred the MonsterArts MonsterVerse King Kong over Hiya's but even still, these are such a waste.
Thank you Steven for the review, it has really helped me decided my purchase. The close up shots of that monsterarts Godzilla looks gorgeous, the sculpt, the mold, the paint application with the slight glitter effect is very beautiful and honestly this is the best Monsterverse Godzilla figure I seen. I wasn't even going to consider buying this Godzilla because I don't care much for the Monsterverse but your review has changed my mind. You captured Sakais quality of work with this sculpt and the fact it does come with accessories is quite good to and it's only 60 bucks. That's a steal, keep pumping out good reviews because this really helped me find a good figure to go with the special colored Ghidorah I plan to purchase.
I got mine in my Birthday bought straight from Japan and let me tell you in Japan it's even better the paint is not messy the joints are snug and also it's great it's amazing and very articulated it's worth it I love it so much you can make good stop motion out of it I gotta say I like this legendary design for SH Monsterarts it's not accurate but you can tell they take creative Liberty by combining the Japanese Godzilla and the American Godzilla
> let me tell you in Japan it's even better the paint is not messy the Hate to burst your excitement bubble, but this is not true. The figures are not different in any market and are exactly the same. You don't get different quality importing.
@@StevensToyReviews I mean I actually like the Sh Monsterarts legendary design sure it's not accurate but they hybridize the design mixing the Japanese and American Godzilla
With this new paint job, this might be my favorite MV Kong figure tbh. You make a very good point about not supporting the company though, when in many regards they’ve neglected the entire line.
Since the plastic is softer it makes the ball joints a little bit less fragile cause its flexible but still breakable my figures legs and waist are literally stuck
Can anybody tell me why the Minus One Godzilla is just nonexistent these days? Like sure, the Minus Color release is coming out, but trying to find the original version now feels like looking for water in the middle of Death Valley. (I was gonna get it to add on that 3rd party head from Kaijuwizard).
Just watched GxK again in theaters and honestly imo it’s the best paint job for this mold, like this clearly is Godzilla when he is in France siphoning the energy from the power plant, like it’s not that ugly metallic blue that was poorly applied to his mouth and spikes I do think it would’ve been better had they used a more fleshy pink for his mouth and a red, but I’ve never owned a monsterverse figure and honestly like I said I like the paint job it doesn’t look overly sloppy, a bit better articulation and a beat effect so
I just saw this video as I got a package in the mail, due to me loving Lego, I have build many figures from the MV and they are good. Thank you for addressing this issue Steven.
Reminder that the SH monsterarts Rodan Singular Point, who has two rows of itty bitty needle teeth on both jaws (FOUR ROWS TOTAL), has perfect paint apps 🌝🌝🌝
You know! Only the second cheapest figure in the line, at $50-$55, the lightest in the line as well…and looking at the figure on my shelf, it has TWO rows of teeth on the upper and lower jaw. TWO ROWS of perfectly pained, individual teeth. God dammit bandai.
@@StevensToyReviews just goes to show how theyre completely capable of doing so, and yet are just purely lazy. I counted and theres OVER SEVENTY INDIVIDUAL TEETH, while most figured have like, 20 at most!

I didn’t become a collector till recently so I only have the 2021 Kong Godzilla so the difference for me is a little big. I’m not buying the Kong. I just got Godzilla.
What’s really sad is to a certain extent I’m holding out for Bandai. I just feel like for what we saw in the movie, their figures would be able to articulate well enough to recreate some poses. Idk if it was my cousins copy but posing around with his Godzillas gave me more neca vibes.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m brand new into this world of collecting and bought the GxK Godzilla and Kong figures for my birthday. They’re my first ones and, while I can admit that they’re not flawless, I really enjoy them for what they are.
How would you compare the 2021 standard version of Kong compared to the 2024. I bought the standard one for 55 with a damaged box ( I didn’t know) because before I bought the hiya Kong and his leg broke off from being too stiff; like I barely moved it and it completely broke off
They'll probably be made in like a year or two. Hiya already made their evolved Godzilla and Shimo. It's only a matter of time when they release beast glove Kong and Skar King.
Kong makes sense, most of what they did in GxK, they gave him Grey patches of hair, though they could have given him a new head with a longer beard and metal tooth
Yeah, you're probably right that if they're going to do a "final battle version" of both of these, they'll probably reuse the same Kong sculpt, but only change the arm and maybe the head sculpts if they feel like it. Same with Godzilla, new sculpts for some parts but same body build. At this point, their "sculpted by professionals" tag doesn't really live up to the standard that collectors expect.
I was thinking about getting the kong because i wanted the black recolor, but you do have a point, i should probably wait for a deal, especially when you bring up that other kongs and zillas were on target shelves for a while.
How’s Godzilla’s tail poseability? I’ve had a bad history with the SH Legendary Gojis having loose tails that don’t like to stay up or keep popping off from their socket parts.
It's just bizarre why they released these two, while godzilla is blue alot in the movie but the figure isn't blue enough. And Kong without his gauntlet? What's the point of getting these when they aren't even the flagships
The SHF Orange Piccolo wasn't the best example IMO (being PBandai, so costing $95-100 (including shipping) at the time of its release, and now it's more since it's discontinued), though I get what you were going for with the size. IMO $75 would have been a perfectly fair price had they done better body paint (even a bit of weathering/drybrush would have went a long way), fine tuned the dorsal plate paint a bit (the highlights on the tail/lower half are too heavy, white could have been incorporated a bit better), and updated the head sculpt. That's all they really had to do, but nope, couldn't be bothered (though I am tempted to pick this up this up to test my painting skills)
It absolutely was. Higher price, smaller run, and significantly better execution compared to... 7th? 8th? Release of a more affordable figure which keeps degrading release after release after release.
@@StevensToyReviews That's the problem tho, it's cherry picked (of course a higher priced limited release should be held to higher standards than a regular mass market one). If you compare figures it should be standard releases vs standard releases. Hell, should have just thrown up something like the new/recent LSSJ Goku to further drive you point in. Bandai’s a toy company, so a quick repaint of a previous sculpt to get something to market for the film release is a ploy Hasbro and other companies do all the time. I find it hilarious that almost every Godzilla toy channel treats a re-release like a war crime every time it happens.
@@StevensToyReviewsnot always, it takes them a while to retool or get a new mould and they’re even more guilty for peg-warmers. I wish we could see more of how Shimo performs in combat. She didn’t do much imo, and if she could tank Evo Godzilla’s new atomic breath, I really think she would’ve been able to freeze skar king before he could weaken her further, because even if skar king kept torturing her, she held her own pretty well against the big G and K

Wasn't on the EE version, sloppy here. That's doodoo, not a scar~

Yeah that seemed a bit like a nitpick quality of the figures aside. It's pretty obvious they weren't going for canon appearance with these repaints.
After the Kong review, a perfectly timed Chick-fil-A ad popped up
Okay playing Devils advocate here, the reason the 2024 Kong doesn't come with the accessories the event exclusive has is because Tamashii Bandai handles web shop and event figures differently.
8:19 it just hit me. This is the same MV beam that we got with 2014
Which is a negative because in 2014, his atomic breath was significantly weaker, do it looks more like fire than a traditional beam.
From 2019 onward, the beam would be normal, but Monsterarts recycled it because LAZINESS
That's been my complaint since 2019.
They toke reduce, reuss and recycle to far💀💀💀
While not screen accurate, I personally prefer what they gave us, even it's a reused part. To me, the Atomic Breath has always been a mix of beam/flame (still in a straight line like a beam, but with all the effects of a flame breath), like what they gave us. Never cared for how wispy/weak the breath was in 2014, and didn't like how clean/lazerbeam-ish it had been in the recent Kong collab movies

The stripe on kongs back is where Godzilla hit him with his beam in Gvk
huge respect for the last bit at the end, its good to have people encourage this mentality
the "dirt on monke back* was the aftermath of Godzilla beaming him in GvK
i just like the blue on the godzilla

That's all they really had to do, but nope, couldn't be bothered
(though I am tempted to pick this up this up to test my painting skills)
It absolutely was. Higher price, smaller run, and significantly better execution compared to... 7th? 8th? Release of a more affordable figure which keeps degrading release after release after release.
@@StevensToyReviews That's the problem tho, it's cherry picked (of course a higher priced limited release should be held to higher standards than a regular mass market one). @@Patrick485-0 that’s understandable! I feel like the overshadowing only really affects SHMA’s monsterverse line though as that’s what Hiya is focusing on, which SHMA’s MV line has been objectively lacking.
I really and truly do hope that Hiya’s run as a competitor pushes SHMA to improve on their MV line
You know this is exactly what I ordered… 3yrs ago. I’m not buying the figures twice (Thrice in Godzillas case)
I was thinking of getting S.H G24 at G-Fest, but I decided against it, lol
