Thank you for this. I noticed two things, I released a bit of air at one point and I started thinking yes, this is static breath hold, underwater we move. I know I can do myself but would you do a guided breath hold where we are moving walking? Thank you
I thought I was only gonna last 20 seconds, I’m so shocked that I was able to hold my breath for the whole minute! Your techniques are brilliant! Thank you :)
Gert. Your much calmer, relaxed, and soothing style of commentary on this video is far better suited to the chilling-out required in freediving. Great video & the progressive style is suitable for everyone. Brilliant 👏
I got to the 40 seconds, it was so challenging that I decided to try again tomorrow to get to 50 and 60 seconds. Thanks! 40 seconds is longer than I’ve ever done before.
Hello Gert Leroy, my favourite freediving youtuber ! :) I was wondering if you go to Nemo 33 sometimes, and you are a freediving instructor as well ? Much obliged for the information. Kind regards.
@gertleroy, I have a question! first of all, i love the channel, started doing a lot of breathing exercises. doing better with breatholds. now i breathe slower than before in regular life as well, having much higher co2 threathold, more calm. i'm thrilled! thank you!! i was curious about the following: i'm reading now about diving on nitrox (a different discipline, i know!). but (!!!) they say that if you retain co2 more than regular folk, it can increase the potential for oxygen toxicity. i presume that more co2 in your bloodstream --> more o2 absorbed when you breathe a higher o2% mixture like nitrox. question: do freedivers have to behave super cautiously if they were ever to dive on nitrox and breathe more than they usually do to retain lower co2 levels?
Hi, I believe I can answer your question. So there are a few main limitations of scuba diving. The ultimate depth limit of a mix is limited at the point the oxygen gets toxic (at 1.6 partial pressures (ppO2)). Another limitation is your decompression obligation. This is one of the main reasons people dive nitrox mixes (it gives them longer time in the water for the same deco limits). So regarding your question, I doubt any increased safety margin needs to be added as scuba divers already dive conservatively to their limits (especially regarding O2 toxicity). The recreational limit set for your ppO2 is 1.4. Additionally the long term limit that effects your central nervous system is known as your CNS%. Divers try to never go past 80% of their CNS limit. (Also at shallow recreational depths, getting anywhere close to that threshold very hard). So even if free divers are slightly more susceptible to O2 toxicity, I would say that is not a worry. The far far bigger issue as you get deeper with CO2 is work of breathing due to gas mixes. Heavier gases are harder to breathe under pressure. This extra work can cause a build up of CO2. But I think due to the higher tolerance, breath holders are probably safer. There's so much more to diving science so this is a very short summary of some concepts, but hoped this helped!
@@jobinjose8156 it depends on how bad or good you're swimming. it's all about technique. if you're a bad swimmer maybe 30 seconds.. if you're a good swimmer maybe a minute.. it's about technique and hie relax you are ( most people are anxious)
I got 50 on my first try.. i only last until 24sec on the last round.. thanks for this, someone from tiktok recommended your channel to me :) great help
Hi Gert, I just got an email from you with the offer to train me via zoom? Live training? Just wanted to make sure the email is really from you before I sign up?

What about when swimming cause I can do 2 mins not moving but I will be moving underwater
your underwater time will be less cause you're using energy / oxygen
@@gertleroyHow much will the difference be sir?

great! take it easy 🙏
If someone is able to do the whole process just by the breathing nose, is that better or worse than doing it by nose and mouth?
breathing in between breathholds is through the nose. Only the final breath you take through mouth.
Wow!!!! I made it!!!!! Fantastic!
Thank you, sir!
You are most welcome
I did it thank you
