- Tensions in the Horn of Africa have escalated after landlocked Ethiopia signed an agreement with Somalia's breakaway region Somaliland, which will give it access to the sea. Mogadishu has blasted the agreement as illegitimate and has appealed for international support. Egypt, which has its own long-running dispute with Ethiopia over the Nile River, said it won't 'hesitate to act' in support of Mogadishu. Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, had a tough warning for Ethiopia.

Dude, the difference is that Eritreans fought Ethiopia, the US, USSR, East Germany, South Yemen, etc for 30 years to get back their independence; also, Eritrea was a colony of Italy for 60 years and the fact that Ethiopia never attempted to rescue Eritrea from Italy clearly shows that Eritrea was not part of Ethiopia before the arrival of the Italians in the late 19th century; Ethiopia annexed Eritrea in 1962 (?) with the blessing of the US and their collaborators-in-crime (UK and the like); I know Somaliland broke away from Somalia in 1991 when Seid Barre was ousted from power, however, I don't know whether Somaliland fought against Somalia to become a de facto state and for how long.

We are very aware how our first encounter with these Arabs was. So, we must always be prepared. Those Arab Egyptians should know that land which they currently occupy does not belong to them. If they want to continue to stay there they best to play nice and not make so much noise.
It has been clear the objective of our enemies has always been to divide and conquer us. That unfortunately, has worked very well for them in the past. However, we must not allow that to continue to happen.
We Africans are one people. We must not fight one another. We must realize we have common interests, and our interests are tied. It is a must that we work together and help one another.

Berbera is the main port in Somaliland. After the current agreements, the annual income will reach 8 billion dollars, which is close to the income of the Suez Canal. Egypt rejects this and Somalia as well.
That's not the case. Ethiopia wants a piece of land to build a commercial port and naval base of its own. This would definitely affect Berbera port activities, because Ethiopia will no longer need to use it. This would lead to economic disaster in Somaliland region as it deprives essential port services and transit revenues.

The problem is that Somalia colonised the Republic of Somaliland from July 1960 to January 1990, therefore when Republic of Somaliland liberated itself and reclaimed its independence from Somalia, Somalia confused and gone MAD. And don't how to let go the Republic of Somaliland.

How do Ethiopians perceive Egypt entering a commercial deal and signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Beni-Shengul Gumuz region regarding the Nile and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)?

Somalia's issue is not ethiopia but somaliland. They don't want to see somaliland developing and doing better than them. In 1977, Somalia and Ethiopia fought a war over the Ogaden region, also known as the Ogaden War or the Ethio-Somali War. The war lasted from July 1977 to March 1978. Somalia lost the war due to military intervention from the Soviet Union and Cuba. The republic of Somalia and Somaliland have a federation treaty. Countries have issues and difficulties, but that does not mean those countries weaknesses should grant the intervention and interference of their sovereign integrity. Ethiopia does have access to the sea and it has always had access to the sea still. Djibouti and the republic of Somalia, even Kenya at some point gave Ethiopia access to the sea. The republic of Somalia and Somaliland have a federation treaty which has been functioning for so long. What Ethiopia is looking at is ownership of a port in the long term. Eritrea has always been a sovereign country that has been colonised for more than a century. Eritrea was colonised by the Turkish Ottoman empire for 300-400 years, then the Egyptian, then the Italian, then the British, then the Ethiopian. In the early 1950s, after the British colonisation of Eritrea, Eritrea was refused their independence and given a federation treaty with Ethiopia. This was done forcefully without the voice or referendum of Eritrean people, while all African colonised countries were given their independence. That federation treaty was unlawfully violated and abolished by the last emperor of Ethiopia and Ethiopia colonised Eritrea. After 30 years of war for independence against the resistance of the colony of Ethiopia , in 1991 Eritrea gained its lawful and legal independence which was supposed to happen in the early 1950s just like all African colonised countries. In 1993, a referendum for independence was held and 99.8% of Eritrea people voted for independence.
