    The first part explains basic AP, essentially attitude control for all three axis', and possibly being switchable for less than the three. Everything after that would be additional features and are brand, model, age specific. Some aircraft have extra features and some don't. And the extra features tend to be the results of technical evolution, ie, bigger/newer planes have more stuff, although new small plane might have more stuff than an older big plane.

      @snakerstran9101, does that mean autopilot navigating the aircraft along a predefined flight path is an added feature and not a basic feature of autopilot? This has always been my question, kindly help clarify.

    • @snakerstran9101
      @snakerstran9101 2 месяца назад

      @@utkarshmishra1928 I worked on several different AP systems, and they all had the rudder connected to the compass system as opposed to the pitch and roll axis's connected to a pitch and roll gyro. So, on those, if the AP rudder axis was engaged, it would get a compass signal for its attitude reference.

      @@snakerstran9101, what i meant to ask was if manoeuvring the aircraft along the (curved) flight path is a basic function of autopilot or an added functionality

    • @snakerstran9101

      @@utkarshmishra1928 Lots of different system designs out there. A basic rudder control could hold acft on the heading at the time the AP was selected, or at the time the rudder channel was selected, if equipped.
      A "enhanced" feature might be a connection to the flight director system where pilot could turn a heading knob and the acft will follow. A AP turn control feature could have the rudder be involved in a coordinated turn with the turn knob. And it goes on from there with various navigation features/waypoint steering, crosswind crab, etc

    Does the autopilot have software that considers earth spin?

      It has software that caters for wind and movement of the aircraft but not the Earth's spin

    Indeed, the Autopilot does not have a role of thinking, reasoning and decision-making. It executes the pilots' instructions and directions.

    • @JxJAVIATION
      @JxJAVIATION  2 года назад

      That is correct. The inputs may be from data base or short term inputs!

    • @snakerstran9101
      @snakerstran9101 2 года назад

      That is kind of a potato/tomato view. The pilot commands by turning modes on or off. But once turned on, the AP very much has a role in thinking, reasoning and decision-making, the very definition of a processor. Signals are input to the processor, the processor makes decisions, the processor sends output signals to "fly" the plane.

    • @JxJAVIATION
      @JxJAVIATION  2 года назад

      @@snakerstran9101 The processing is done based on the flight plan that was loaded. Wouldn't say its a decision making process!

    A320 is absolutely stable without AP since FBW knows the demand from sidesticks Inner loop and outer loop?/ Flight director?? AT does far more than speed control. Enagae/disengage logic? Yaw damping?? Coupling??

    • @JxJAVIATION
