@@rs72098 The OP was obviously talking about primary and secondary educational failings so colleges have nothing to do with it. Nor does GDP. But speaking of college, according to the U.S. Census of 2018, only 36% of people 25 or older have a Bachelor's degree. So, yeah, America has an education problem.

@@rs72098 Ah, here we have the age-old fallacy of "Scientific institutions were started by religious people, so that makes religion better." That has no bearing on the efficacy of religion itself and do you even realize that it wasn't that long ago that you would have been killed if you weren't religious? Who else would have done it? Yeah, that's a pretty good contribution; kill people that don't agree with you.

      Summary of the Bible
God creates the universe and everything in it out of nothing.
He creates man out of his image then later he regrets it
The planet populated then the loving God flooded it and killed everyone except his 8 incest pets
The planet gets populated again and people start to disobey him again
Then he wanted to destroy it again and his son Jesus asked him to go to rescue the people (The son is God himself)
God was born from a virgin then he started performing miracles e.g walking on water , multiplying bread and fish , turning water into wine, curing leprosy with words instead of just ending it
Later he gave himself up to get killed claiming that he died for our sins.
😅 Someone really worships this 😂😂😂

I wish every day that I could talk to him again, to say thank you for everything he did for me, to get his advice, to talk about his beautiful grandchildren... but being an atheist myself I doubt that will happen. His strength facing death was truly inspiring, as is yours. If each of us accepted that this is the only life we have and that we should cherish it and appreciate our world and all the people around us, we'd have a heaven right here. I can't say it to him any more so instead, through tears, I'll tell you - thank you.

I've said before that if I raised my son to believe that fairies were real, and convinced him that sneezes were a reaction to (and evidence for) pixie dust from these invisible fae, every time he or someone around him sneezed it would further cement his belief in the supernatural entities that we have no real reason to think exist.

When I was a believer I thought I was going to heaven and I believed in heaven and hell. One of the biggest teachings in every church I attended was beware of having a false salvation. I forgot the verse but it talks about there being many people in hell that cried lord lord. It left you questioning your salvation so you would constantly pray for forgiveness because you were in fear that you fooled yourself and you are going to hell. Getting out of religion I saw it is a huge mind fuck. I don't fear being dead now but I do have fears of suffering bad enough to wish I was dead.

Fear is the biggest tool used for indoctrination, hence hell, hence the first thing they go to when you tell them you don't believe is Pascal wager "what if you're wrong". Fear short cirquits logic and is imbedded into the teachings so whenever you are thinking of any religious subject your logic does not interfere, so you don't logically examine what it is that you are believing in. You just accept it.

Yes he is, but he sounds like he is 16 years old or so. Not sure why they think it was a prank, he was respectful, I think he was just too young and been indoctrinated without having been exposed to counter arguments. This might get him to think more on the subject, but they should not have treated him as if he was an adult.

@@kevinkliegl9315 It's one thing for a 16 year old to say "I don't know anything about DNA", but the confidence with which he said "I don't believe in it because I can't see it" clearly shows that either he is just calling in to enrage Matt or he is literally full of shit.
