- Today we clean out the nasty critter / poop packed 1962 Vw Bus Double Cab pick up truck garage find . It is in need of a serious deep cleaning and a first wash. How bad is it ? Can it be saved ? Top first. I think. It’s been a while since I pulled mine out. Also do not lose your front seat. It’s 61/62 ONLY. It’s called a humpback, and they are really really hard to find.

Those Bay window Bus, make good look Desert safari ,, cut off be hind the cab ,, and all of the back is don with tubing /pipe levee the roof full all the way back so cool.

those "bonus finds" in a vehicle are sometimes worth more than the vehicle itself! OTOH, this one looks better than I thought but still has some serious rust.

I always look forward to the cleanout! It always puzzles me how old rare vehicles end up in this shape, I mean I know how. It just sickens me!! In the end it wound up with the right man! I would be super stoked too! I luv when you get gitty over certain finds. Good stuff buddy!!
Little factoid: Volkswagen bus’ are about 3 inches shorter than the standard garage height in 1960. So most (if not all) of them lived their entire lives outside. Let’s see how you look after 50 years in the rain haha

Over here in Europistan these often came with a canvas hood on the cargo bed. Companies used them as worktrucks for small job workcrews.
Back in the late 60's these were everywhere.

Just sorting thru minor detritus & moderate scrubbage, really is no thing at all.

Haven't seen a Poo-poo Platter since I lived in Hawaii. Not quite the way I remembered them though 🤮. Of course, back then I was pretty drunk, so maybe? Its not like you to have floor panels and much of the inside in tact. You OK Jason? 😁. Ain't it a kicker when the kids point out the obvious after struggling for what seems like an eternity!! You found the air cleaner that’s great. Hopefully the triangle mounting bracket is still on it. It mounts the 40 horse bus air cleaner to the fan shroud. They can be a little hard to fine too.

There is plenty of solid metal on this one. I did think you had the 'gates' when you went to pick this up? Maybe not then! If you have hinges then there may be gates. That roof light could be for security, this bus in a previous life? All very interesting finding out the history of a vehicle. Thanks Jason I will be looking forward to the restoration. 👍👍

Mighty fine Leaf Blower Action Deluxe. Very good how-to on hand detailing the dash down to original paint. I think the Simple Green cleaner does have a pH level to neutralize acid to some degree.

Never seen before - any reason why only one rear door ? Love to watch you bring this one to life. Best for now.
That is how they came from the factory. Just the one door on the passenger side(left or right hand drive).
If you ever see a 4door it is a retrofit.

I must say in my 63 years, I’ve never seen a double cab.
Love your channel, what do you do with the cars you rescue?
Move them around his property.
Every time I see one of these engines out of the car, and I see the distributer cap, reminds me that my Pinto 2.0 ltr. used the same distributer cap. Go figure.
Crew cab is a keeper - biggest pain D/S window pillar surround and L/S top of the truck bed, but otherwise the rot is tedious but not so hard except the rockers which are a pain. But this and the Euro coupe atre keepers
That double cab was a great find. I'm glad RUclips doesn't have smell-o-vision. A trick I have is to put some Vicks Vapo rub under your nose, then put on a mask. It hides the other nasty smells.

I watch these vids now being nearly 27 years since I sold my last aircooled, and feel bad about the number of stock radios, chrome, single port stuff I threw away! I had a rusty caked with bondo 70 bus I got free, fixed the brakes, put a dual port I had in it, drove it a year, trans was making noise- I pulled the engine (put in a baja bug) and donated the rolling shell to the local VW shop which parted cars- today that thing would be worth 2-3k as is! I lived in an apartment building and had no where to stash cars and couldn't keep a non running non registered in the parking lot, so off it went! They sold the trans and the rest got crushed.
