At 2:08 in the video, you threw out the tent poles for the side tent. Those might be the most valuable part of this find.
Holy shit he just whipped them into the bushes?!?! WTF painful to watch.
5 seconds later: “whoa we got an air cleaner!” Lol
Back in 1978, I worked in St. Petersburg FL on a 4 man construction crew. Our work truck was an old VW bus just like the one in this video. Somehow, all 4 of us and all our tools got crammed into the bus and off we went building houses.
that is a great story! thank you for sharing
Yikes 😳 what a task! Definitely a time capsule there! Good luck!

🇺🇸👍 The green round with spikes thing is used for grave sites you put your flowers or small live plant and a little soil add water stays fresh longer. Then push into the ground while paying your respects. Grounds keepers are not to remove unless plant is dead or beyond. Lots of treasures found inside the van 👍
yes, the stakes in the bottom are for uneven ground and to keep wind from blowing the plant over.
Cool rescue! Looking forward to pulling it out.
That’s such a lovely bus !
One Mans Junk is another's Treasure. Even if it can't be saved, It was worth it for the Parts.
yes Sir, it has to get saved
The parts were worth the find.
You must confess thats one hell of a mess! The guy could have gotten a shed for less! At least there was some treasure. Nice job cleaning that puppy out Jason.
Wow great score.... All those parts super job... Have a good rest of your weekend hope the bus comes out in one piece.
Nice find!
Can't wait to see you get that van out of that location ! Maybe Mustie1 could come help you ? It won't be easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be very impressed if you get that home in one piece. But even if you don't I am still going to enjoy watching you try.!
Thank you , much appreciated , headed up tomorrow …hopefully Saturday is good news
You are truly the 5150 junk man I guess you like digging out garbage vw 🚌 & you are directed to the life of vehicles big supper fan of your channel keep up the good work thanks
Thats amazing, lots of good stufs inside.
Fantastic! I hope the rescue goes well 🙏
You need a truck just to haul all that stuff! And then you'll need a team of VW folks to sift through it all. Can't wait to see the pull!
Definitely a good idea to get all of that weight out of there. And some cool finds to boot!
That van was like a stuffed thanksgiving turkey. You got it though. That critter needs a lot of work can't wait to see where you go with it !
get what you can while you can, txs for sharing...
This video is presented to you by Schlitz Beer! The official sponsor of The Who’s 1982 Farewell Tour!😮
So much stuff in that bus no wonder it sank Jason. Great film :)
thank you C&C
1971 man that July I reported to a draft station. Marines great videos thanks from Sc
Awesome find. Sweet bus, I would love to see the restoration work.
I don't know what's more interesting, the bus or what's in it
👍👏congratulations you vw bus 😄
Another good video. Truly. at 10:57, the vw manual, you should take it home and place it on the coffee table, see what the wife has to say.🤣😂
Nice find brother. Can’t wait to see more of this find.
thank you, headed back up this week
Amazing, keep the videos coming! Greetings from France !
Clearly a man of taste and style owned that van, as evidenced by the old Schlitz case. I excepted to see a squirrel come flying out of the back when you started unloading the van.
:), that would of been ok , or a possum
Great day for VW vids. Started the day with Musty1 reviving a 74 Thing and end with 5150mx picking a 60 Bus for vintage parts! Can’t wait to see if you are going to be able to keep it in one piece.
It looks to be a parts store on wheels. Jeez, hope you beat the storm, but then again where's the chain! Really looking forward to seeing that Vw bus rolling again. Good luck/ love the adventure!
My dad and I watched Heraldo open that really big empty space years ago(Al Capones Vault) . What a disappointment. That was 2 hours lost forever.
😁👍 Hey hubba dubba there's a super on craigslist with low miles 🙂
hi Will, I am supe'RD out lol
What a treasure hunt! The Phillips 66 can and the Schlitz box are cool too.
No joke. I had a sneeze attack just watching this.
I've cleaned out much, much worse :)
Nice little gem 👌
Nice one... some cool stuff in there! I thought you might have given up on this bus...
Cool rescue!! Greetings from Belgium
lol I'm sure you will sort it mate.
Great video mate
That rubbing compound will be handy. A bit of rubbing and that thing will look like new.
yes, get that blue off down to OG paint :)
I saw you take out a pressure regulator for two propane tanks. You tossed it into the scrap metal pile. I bet that goes with that bus you should retrieve it because you’re probably going to want it later.
I can see now Jason, why you couldn’t jack it up !. There must be more weight in parts and junk inside the bus, than the bus actually weighs empty. The conversion is an interesting one. I’ve not seen that side cupboard installed before, over the side window. Good luck with the removal of the bus. It will find a home I’m sure. Plenty of dedicated restorers will take that on.
You know, @ 13:49, that piece of equipment in your right hand is part of the Westfalia gas heater equipment, and should probably be saved.
I bet you couldn't sleep after seeing it the first time even though its toasted lol
I couldn't believe i went home with an empty trailer :)
The Schlitz Beer box. Now that is old school
👍
Nossa.quanta tranqueira nessa Kombi.🙈
awesome video jason
Thank you 34’ back soon to finally get it loaded
The steering wheel has a spinner on it Musty1 must have worked on it in the past. Give the boat plate to Musty1 he has a boat. You got some good parts in some questionable boxes. But the boy will help you put them in the right order after his fishing trip. Fish on.
awesome!
thank you, making the 4 hour trek again tuesday
👍👌👏 Congratulations! 🎉 Lots and lots of still usable Volkswagen parts in this rotten bus.
2) But what? Really? Last time you jacked this rust bucket up with all that stuff/weight in it??? 😱🙈 I simply can't believe it.
Best regards, luck and especially health health to all of you.
haha, you have been around long enough to know I don't always go about things the best way. I didn't want to empty it on the property because I didn't want to make more of a mess for the owners. Also I had 2 dirtbikes in the truck so no room to take any of it . I'm heading back up in the Sequoia ( bought 3 years ago and just reg'd it...put 10 miles it , it's ready for the 8 hour trip lol ) to finish the rescue Tuesday

Okay, I see 🙈 😁 ;-). Yeah, you are absolutely right, Sir. Your rescues have often be... uhm... let's say kind of chaotic. But nevertheless always kind of successful in the end. 2) Right in the beginning of the last/newest Mustie1 video I totally expected that it's you pushing the VW 181 around. With such a car pushing expert at hand (even having the fitting t-shirts), I guessed that M1 gave you a call to help him. 😁 ;-)
Thanks for replying, I always and totally appreciate it very much. I really missed your answers but maybe you simply cannot afford to take the time any longer. The channel grew quite a lot (congrats by the way).
Of course I'm eagerly looking forward to watch the next video.
Sincerely yours.
It's parked over the entrance Door's to Darpa headquarters watch out for the " Lost!" ☯️ One's
the two stones are probably the hand brake)))
Great fun.
Every early westy guy watching this was cringing watching you sweep stuff out of this bus! Myself included lol
owner's manual 👍
nice find !
Yeah, cardboard boxes don't last unless it's one of those heavy duty boxes that are used to store bananas!
The dude who piled up all this stuff is probably long gone.
This property looks like the one near me. I don't think he has any cars though. Lots of heavy machinery though. Old steam shovels, larger trucks, but I've never walked onto the property to see what else is in there.
Sometimes you just have to say NO. lol
The black metal poles you took out the back with the rubbish might have been for the original tent, worth a check before they go with the scrap metal.
I just saw that and gasped a little. Pretty sure that is exactly what they are! Go back and get 'em if you have not already realized it!
duude
I agree about the black metal poles, definitely tent poles! And the water tank was original in the so-23 under the seat.🧙🏻♂️🚐✌🏻
@@Westwalker51 Yep.
Man we need an update! Lol, I hope he didn’t throw those out! Or at least he can still go grab em!
Dont fret, you´ll get that bus out.
thank you Salvador
Жизнь, это миг, между прошлым и будущим
I haven`t seen a Schlitz box since High School. It was popular but we called it liquid metal. Haaa
haha, lots of cool things out there and a nice area to boot
Whoever put that stuff in that VW, must have been a squirrel in a past life.
Holy cow!
Wäre es nicht besser diese Arbeit vor dem anheben des Wagens zu machen😮
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
Hi, did you send the humidity to CT :)
Parked since 71/wow All those You finding where Parked After the Summer of Love 69 , Either a Year or Few After the Parties You know the Daisy Chains and Hippies Migrated up North to a Farm in UpState NY, For Festive time the Hippies called it , 😬🌲🌳🍁🔥☁️☁️🐇Dude Happy Trees Bro Happy Trees
That fuel pump at 31:50 may be off a Triumph TR4 or TR3.
31:36 Carburetor
people that can put all that in 1 place is just outstanding nut bags ..lol just in VW BUS outstanding .
Orinal Mugufa shower head and valve in that seperate Westy was cabinet..super tough to find.
Man, I hope you haven't gone to the scrapyard yet! An old V.W. nut like you should know to hold on to stuff until you know what it is!
People have already mentioned the tent poles, I wonder what other rare Westy parts you have flung out that you will later be scouring swap meets to pay $200 for!
Hello. I'm not 100% sure but I think the little pump-looking thing with the glass dome at 31mins in, might be a fuel filter.
Here in Germany it will almost never happen to find such historic cars looking like a garbage box. On the other side if such similar VW bus is renovated , there is high profit guaranteed
loving the content!!!!
greetsz from holland....max..
Thank you Max , much appreciated
Mountain Dew cans 😅 worth 50.
What are you going to do with it there isn't much there but rust
we shall see, once it's out of the hole, cleaned out and rolling
Any metal container is now a collector piece as band aid boxes are cardboard, coffee containers are plastic and so is everything else.
You say you have a plan? It wouldnt involve Mustie, and maybe his forklift, would it?...it sounds like something he'd be into...
Just checking.
The thing at 1:31 looks line a Model T accessory water pump.
If someone did not tell you, at the 31:49 mark, that looks like and 30's-40's American auto fuel pump. The glass cup points down.
What a nightmare digging through all that. It probably weighed twice what the van weighed
This bus might just need a whole new everything minus the oil bath air filter an exhaust not really a lot left but if it has a VIN you can buy the rest new for $140000 so your in luck.
is the plan two 8 foot lengths of 4x6 and some lag bolts?? lol
Vermont imagine that? 1967 Straight from the commune!
Fix it up, it will be ready for Josh's 80th Birthday.
🤣😁
That was a Model T Ford water pump. You should save it and sell it at a swap meet.
Oii 😳,..It’s like you’re rummaging through my garage,.. Hope you’ve had a Tetanus jab?
That Van is loaded...
Who is the sparkswerks guy you talked about for the fuel pumps?
I gotta admit J, I totally thought you were going to abort this mission. We’re so glad you didn’t. Good luck on getting this rig out. Can’t wait to see it.
I thought I would of had it out that week but my truck failed and I had to get trailered home by Barndubs . No more fishing and riding the dirt bikes , time to get to work :) .
👍👍👍👍👍👍
No middle frame, Mustie 1 will have it on the road before you know it.
Hey bro what a good score might be easier next time there’s a high power blower that would come in Good use just blow it all out thought that might be something you might want to think about but what is score.
Next time let me know I'll help you. 😂
if you could just record while i work that would save hours lol
Did Josh finally get to fishing??
Yes , the rain has not helped the river but we did get him to an Mx track for his 1st time as well . Maybe less fun and more work when I head back up :)
You’re doing a great thing by salvaging these classic VDubs. I wish that I still had my modern ‘73 beetle!! In the early 1970’s my uncle, aunt and cousins went to Spain for a year, my uncle ordered a US spec VW camper with the pop-up roof, picked up in Spain, travelled all over Europe, then shipped to the states, drove for a number years. I have great memories of it!! That was actually their daily driver for years!!
Looks like fun. Can I help?
absolutely
