No disrespect to Jenny but this method just doesn’t make any sense to me either.
Check out Therese Downunder: she starts with 9” blocks and makes quarter square triangles
She uses captions, which I like and I mute the music. But most importantly, I take her speed down to 25%. You’ll see why.
And the color ways she shows at the end are to die for!
She does all kinds of blocks that are interesting to me. But, as I said, I have to watch at 25%.

This looks fairly easy but I have the Accuquilt and the hunter's star die. It does all the cutting and all I have to do is see!!

I am a seasoned quilter, Janice, and have some advice for you. If you work with precision and choose your contrasting fabric carefully, this method works. But I abandoned mine mid-stream because I just didn’t like the look and am now repurposing my star blocks into table runners. I was going for a scrappy look, so I used a variety of light fabrics, instead of one light fabric as Jenny did. In doing so, I lost the secondary arrow effect. That left me with an overpowering sea of stars that wasn’t muted by the contrasting arrows, and I hated it. I don’t often pull the plug on a project, but I couldn’t bring myself to complete a quilt top I hated.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I saw this pattern and fell in love with it a few years ago. I decided that 2024 was going to be the year and I knew that I needed to see if Jenny had done a video on it. I love the way her brain thinks about patterns. This seems totally doable now!

My sister loved this quilt so much that we have ordered the fabric and will begin it this month. I spend most of my time playing the videos and making and changing up the projects. My family received their gifts in the gathered totes and zippered pouch bags and loved them.
Thank you for keeping me busy.

I loved Jenny’s version of this quilt so much that I made it using her techniques but adapted to sewing by hand as I had no machine at the time. I enjoyed making the top but put it aside to quilt and - you guessed it! - never got round to it… Several years later it’s only now going off to be quilted but I still love the pattern and always enjoy Jenny’s enthusiasm and the expertise she and her team kindly share with us - keep up the good work, MSQC!

This is the Perfect pattern to make QOV (Quilt of Valor) and i have presently made 3 and the Awesome 3 Veterans are snuggled with all the Love that went into each of them. I am a PROUD Navy Mom and made sure that each of my QOV ( Have currently done a total of 42 since 2008 when my son went into the Navy) are proudly presented to Navy Veterans. My favorite Hunter Star QOV was done with Red instead of White as the background. Jenny just know that myself and all the other Thousands of Quilters- all ages/stages of quilting- THANK YOU and your Family for bringing us so many beautiful quilt patterns and your Love of Quilting. You are even a daily part of my 2 Precious Cats: Tiger and Martin life. They love to sit on my desk in front of the pc monitor and watch along with me . lol. GOD BLESS You and Keep up the Awesome Videos.

I made a king sized quilt out of this pattern for my granddaughter for her HS graduation this past May. I worked 3 1/2 months completing this quilt. I put a design of bias strips on the wide border. I thought I was never going to get it done. Printing out the detailed blocks were essential to me. I watched this video numerous times. Whew, don’t think I will ever make another Hunter’s Star king size again! Thank you for this video, kept me going!

My favorite was once you were cutting and you almost cut on the wrong side of the stitching and truly I was trying to stop you from making the mistake when you realized what you had almost done and you said, "I can hear you gasping" and that was exactly what I had been doing! I just laughed and laughed! You are a delight to watch!

I'm so happy that I found the MSQC. I've wanted to learn how to quilt for a few years now, however everyone else in my family is pretty sewing illertirate, no one is quite sure where I got the crafty bug from. This quilt is beautiful and I hope to try it soon. I don't have any excuses to not try and learn, my boyfriend surprised me with a sewing machine for our anniversery. I've spent a lot of time watching a lot of your video tutorials. :) Thanks for putting them together!

Ha, Ha, I cut them to 2¾” but cut from the same colour area, so it made my 2 colour triangle square a bit lopsided. So I made another charm square . Good thing I am only practicing. Thank you for your wonderful Tutorials- learning SO much. Judy from Victoria Australia.

Hi Juba. When I square up a HST (half square triangle) I use a Bloc Loc ruler. It has a grove on the underside that sits in the seam to make sure you don't cut off more on one side than the other. I was at a a retreat where someone had one and we all tried it. It was wonderful so I went out and purchased one right away. They come in different sizes so I bought the 6" which can be used on size HSTs less than 6 inches. It might help you in the future since I know it has helped me. Have fun sewing!

I absolutely love this quilt and I would have to say that it is my very favorite. It was difficult to say which is my favorite because I love them all ! I can't wait to make it. It has been amazing to watch the earlier tutorials and see how much your company has grown. All the hard work has paid off and thank you so much for sharing with us.

This is my favorite tutorial to date. I have been interested in this block for so long, but it looked to intimidating to a relatively new quilter. Thanks, Jenny & co. for making traditional blocks that even I can do.

I first saw this on the KCPT fund raiser and looked up this quilt on your regular tutorial. This is great! I have done the Hunter's Star the hard way, but I will have to try it this way. It looks so much easier. Thanks Jenny. You are a great inspiration!

I saw Hunters quilt picture on one quilt magazine years ago. I like the design and wanted to make it but haven't. It was just 2 colours cream and tea-stained cream to make it like antic look. Now seeing you, Jenny, on you great tutorial with different colour variation make me want to make it but my problem is QUILTING it. Thanks so much Jenny

For those of you wondering about the diagrams for the two blocks, I just paused the video at 9:01 and drew the diagram squares out on paper and used colored pencils to mark the triangles that were colored fabric. Only takes a minute or two and you have both lay outs. I do this with a lot of patterns that I find on the internet too. Hope this helps.
