Btw would love to see a review on the Double Wear Light for a foundation friday. Like you I'm not a fan of the original double wear but I adore the light version, I find it more smoothing on the skin but it's still long wearing. The coverage is decent but I spot conceal before using that foundation on it's own. I mostly use it to mix in with other foundations though, like the Born this Way - love that combo.The shade range is terrible though, don't understand why a huge brand like Estee Lauder can't come up with more shades -.-
If you want it more dewy during the day, from the start: can't you mix in an oil of some sort? like Smashbox primer oil? Don't need much and you can still set the t-zone so it stays!
I found some I bought years ago for my legs & applied it. I loved how it look. Real smoothe matte finish. I'm almost 60 & have unsightly spider veins & it covered nicely. I'll wear it w summer dresses.
Kayla Gee if your foundation is oil based and your lotion/primer is water based it will separate. Or if your skin is oily and your foundation is water based it will separate.

So many people have recommended the original Double Wear so I picked it up a few weeks ago. I could have given it a little more time, but I used it twice and I agree, I thought it was so thick. It was also too dry for me. I brought it back. Thanks for these reviews!!!! You do such a good job.

I finally figured out to how wear EL double wear 2 days ago after playing around with it for years, happy with coverage but not with how heavy it is and how it broke down! Put some out on your palette, dip your brush into it and apply a THIN layer. Angled flat-top kabuki has worked best for me. It's no longer cakey and easily goes 12 hours. Unbelievable with my oily skin! Would love an in-depth video on it and double wear light!
I mix the original double wear with the Maximum coverage. it helps me get my perfect shade & I dampen my sponge with Mac fix plus to give it a more skin like appearance! I have purple-brown acne scarring & deep grooves from my acne & the 2 work beautifully together.
Can I thank you for all your foundation reviews! I know unlike other gurus you may not always get foundations sent to you all the time and some of the foundations come out of your pocket. I have acne so finding and looking for foundations is hard. This helps me so much in buying products and not having to spend unnecessary money especially with a family. So Thank you!!!!!

I'm so glad you mentioned you we're underwhelmed by the UD full spectrum palette! I really wanted it because I missed out on the Kat Von d ma vida loca palette last year and this reminded me of it! I went to ulta to get it and when I swatched it I thought the mattes where so so hard for lack of a better term! I was expecting nice soft blend able shadows like my other urban decay naked basics palette! I keep wanting a super colorful palette to play with but good quality so I'm not sure about coastal sense or something like that....

Loved 15 days of foundation! I would love a review on the Estée Lauder double wear. It was my favorite in high school and as I've gotten older I find myself never reaching for it because how heavy it is. I would also love a favorite mixer video to see what your favorite foundations are to mix and what combinations work well.

I use this every effing day its my fav. My mom uses it ,it my aunts use it my grandma uses it (shes 95) it just takes a small amount. I use a moisturizer under. I tried elf primer under but it had a funky reaction and got chunky. Covers my dark spots well and lasts all day! Love it so much!

That's exactly why there's now products that combine coverage with other skincare benefits, like acne or blackhead treatment or moisture or anti aging or sun protection, for instance. Some products combine 3 or more. So you're not piling on 20 layers of product, masking the complexion, wasting time or hard earned dollars on a bunch of crap for your skin that really just further aggravates the skin issues in the first place!

Laura Gomes So sorry to hear you suffer as well. I hope that they can figure out what's going on with you. I was misdiagnosed for 15 yrs & kept getting worse. I didn't get answers until a year ago & am finally getting the right treatment. Have you had your blood examined by a super lab like Igenix? It wasn't until a doctor suggested it that I was finally able to get answers. They found all kinds of things in my blood. The tests were expensive but so worth it. I really hope you can get some answers soon. I know what it's like to not know what's wrong with your body. ❤
Ah I was misdiagnosed as well for 2 years. I had a new doctor tell me that I certainly did not have that but he wasn't sure what I did have. I have not done an examination by a super lab. Thankfully my symptoms are not bad now and I am maintaining them .but I have been wanting to look into a more comprehensive exams so that is something I will look into, thanks!

Definitely try mixing with Makeup Forever HD - perfect pairing with the Estée Lauder to sheer it out a bit. I used to have pretty bad acne scarring and used the Estee Lauder to help cover some of that up - it was so heavy that mixing it with the Makeup Forever allowed me to have coverage where I really needed it without having such a heavy foundation on the places where I needed less coverage. It was my go to combination for a while!

i didnt like the regular estee lauder double wear at first either! But when i mix in a drop of jojoba oil into it i find that it blends a lot better, the finish is way nicer and i still get the full coverage. You should try, i think any facialoil works just as well as jojoba oil
That is ridiculously dark for the lightest shade, even the lightest shade of the normal double wear is too dark for me (well the lightest shade you can get in Australia).
1C1 is shell - it's been available in the UK for a while. Hope you like it - it is pale but my skin doesn't get on with double wear (it makes me have wrinkles I had no idea were there.
Ginger V I just bought it this weekend and I love it! I bought both the 1n1 ivory nude and 2n1 desert beige and both are lighter than creamy vanilla. The desert beige is more yellow as well.

i really like the coverage of this makeup, and the fact that you said it didn't feel heavy. I wonder how it would do with some white mixed in. Also, would wearing such a full coverage foundation cause clogged pores eventually? How did it compare to the Loreal Pro Matte foundation? All your baerrito family sends you a huge THANK YOU for this wealth of information, giving us all something to look forward to EVERY night, and for putting your own skin "on the line" exposing it to all the different formulas in such a short time! You should dos standoff between this one and that dermacol to see which one performs best. Like coverage and durability and texture. They both seem like they could do battle but which has the most pros and least cons.
To blend this foundations you can use one drop of oil and it is best to apply it with fingers and then blend out the edges with a bb and moisturize your skin well beforehand

Thank you for reviewing this! I've been using this product for years now. Luckily I have found my perfect shade. This foundation is very long lasting, but I have to use a primer and setting spray to make it look less cakey. This combination makes my make-up last all day without any touch-up.
I am a huge fan of the DoubleWear light. I mix the ManicPanic white mixer in with it to match it a bit better to my skin tone. The DoubleWear light is buildable so I feel like despite it being labeled as "light," I can still get good, full coverage.

A water gel moisturizer does wonders for avoiding cake face for me, maybe it can help

I use this every effing day its my fav. My mom uses it ,it my aunts use it my grandma uses it (shes 95) it just takes a small amount. I use a moisturizer under. I tried elf primer under but it had a funky reaction and got chunky. Covers my dark spots well and lasts all day! Love it so much!

That's exactly why there's now products that combine coverage with other skincare benefits, like acne or blackhead treatment or moisture or anti aging or sun protection, for instance. Some products combine 3 or more. So you're not piling on 20 layers of product, masking the complexion, wasting time or hard earned dollars on a bunch of crap for your skin that really just further aggravates the skin issues in the first place!

Wow though, after you started blending it actually blended really well and matched your skin tone really well because your neck looked the same as your face. I love this foundation and you need oh so little!

Laura Gomes So sorry to hear you suffer as well. I hope that they can figure out what's going on with you. I was misdiagnosed for 15 yrs & kept getting worse. I didn't get answers until a year ago & am finally getting the right treatment. Have you had your blood examined by a super lab like Igenix? It wasn't until a doctor suggested it that I was finally able to get answers. They found all kinds of things in my blood. The tests were expensive but so worth it. I really hope you can get some answers soon. I know what it's like to not know what's wrong with your body. ❤
Ah I was misdiagnosed as well for 2 years. I had a new doctor tell me that I certainly did not have that but he wasn't sure what I did have. I have not done an examination by a super lab. Thankfully my symptoms are not bad now and I am maintaining them .but I have been wanting to look into a more comprehensive exams so that is something I will look into, thanks!

Definitely try mixing with Makeup Forever HD - perfect pairing with the Estée Lauder to sheer it out a bit. I used to have pretty bad acne scarring and used the Estee Lauder to help cover some of that up - it was so heavy that mixing it with the Makeup Forever allowed me to have coverage where I really needed it without having such a heavy foundation on the places where I needed less coverage. It was my go to combination for a while!

I use a tiny bit of this mixed into a white foundation or one that is too light for me and it ups the coverage so well!
I will miss the soothing sound of Beauty blender pounding into your face. I'm not being snarky either, I really like that sound. At least I can still hear it during foundation Fridays!

i didnt like the regular estee lauder double wear at first either! But when i mix in a drop of jojoba oil into it i find that it blends a lot better, the finish is way nicer and i still get the full coverage. You should try, i think any facialoil works just as well as jojoba oil
That is ridiculously dark for the lightest shade, even the lightest shade of the normal double wear is too dark for me (well the lightest shade you can get in Australia).
I was told at Myer Adelaide that there is a lighter shade called Shell coming in the original double wear around Xmas time...can't wait!
1C1 is shell - it's been available in the UK for a while. Hope you like it - it is pale but my skin doesn't get on with double wear (it makes me have wrinkles I had no idea were there.
1N1 is the lightest I could find, not sure whether I should try it 😩
Ginger V I just bought it this weekend and I love it! I bought both the 1n1 ivory nude and 2n1 desert beige and both are lighter than creamy vanilla. The desert beige is more yellow as well.

i really like the coverage of this makeup, and the fact that you said it didn't feel heavy. I wonder how it would do with some white mixed in. Also, would wearing such a full coverage foundation cause clogged pores eventually? How did it compare to the Loreal Pro Matte foundation? You should definitely try the Illamasqua skin base foundation, their cruelty free and they have an amazing colour range on both ends of the spectrum!

To blend this foundations you can use one drop of oil and it is best to apply it with fingers and then blend out the edges with a bb and moisturize your skin well beforehand

Thank you for reviewing this! I've been using this product for years now. Luckily I have found my perfect shade. This foundation is very long lasting, but I have to use a primer and setting spray to make it look less cakey. This combination makes my make-up last all day without any touch-up.

I am a huge fan of the DoubleWear light. I mix the ManicPanic white mixer in with it to match it a bit better to my skin tone. The DoubleWear light is buildable so I feel like despite it being labeled as "light," I can still get good, full coverage.
Also, I have had Sail in my head for two weeks. Blame it on my ADD! 😂
