    For anyone experiencing stick drift, when you pop off the thumbsticks spray some contact cleaner directly into the thumbstick opening and click it all around. After it dries add a bit of gear grease inside the opening. If it's a controller you care about and plan to keep it's worth it. I did it for all my og Xbox and 360 controllers and it's been a huge difference

    I think I'd go for a black/purple layout myself. I got a PowerA Series S/X controller in Purple Hex a while back and I think purple thumbsticks and face buttons would really work with the solid purple back, and the purple details on the top plastic. Much better than all the black, and the colourful face button lettering, I think.

    I replaced the thumbsticks in both my DS3s with 360 style ones,, and I also did the same for my GemPad 3, though the 360 thumbsticks have a slightly different shaped housing, which ends up requiring some gentle sanding to make sure the socket doesn't get stuck.
    When I did it I don't think I even saw ones specifically made for Dual Shocks, though I think there are now. I know that a lot of end up replacing the thumbsticks on the DualShock4 with the previous ones.
    What almost always needs fixed on DualShock4s are the absolutely awful triggers. They're gummy brand new and I highly recommend investing in stronger replacement springs or going to a place like BattleBeaver and getting the improved trigger mechanism.

    • @NEEDbacon
      @NEEDbacon 4 года назад +2

      Drift sounds like an issue more involved with the actual control stick underneath and not the thumb sticks. I have one of a similar age and use and while the sticks are so worn out as to not even have the rubber on them anymore and the holes for mounting are so worn out they can be moved without input, they don't drift.

      could try cleaning the switches with WD-40 contact cleaner and a tooth brush. But if that doesn't work you will most likely have to desolder the analogue switch and solder a new one in. Sadly the switches are different than the ones used in the xbox one controllers and finding new switches may be more difficult due to the age of the controller.

    I think the d-pad looks fine.
    Also I’m pretty sure my wired controller has philips heads.

      You're right, the wired variants had Phillips head screws, the wireless ones had t8 hex screws

    I have one of a similar age and use. The sticks are so worn out as to not even have the rubber on them anymore (it's just a plastic disk underneath it all) and the holes for mounting are so worn out they can be moved without input,the thing is fine otherwise. These would be pretty damn nifty to have.

    I got some of those thumbsticks last year. You can feel them wear away while you play.

    Down voted it because you didn't take apart the D-pad to clean it.

    Probably, the best controller ever made. Fells great, super simple to take apart and maintain, and the plastics and thumbsticks are of better quality than anything today. Today's controllers are a nightmare to take apart.

      Nah man, this controller literally has the worst D-Pad that still functions. Diagonals when trying to do cardinal directions are guaranteed! The controller is excellent for everything else, but the D-Pad is a dealbreaker for anything that uses it.
      (dishonorable mention also goes to the side buttons, Lb and Rb, they're loose as hell though still usable enough I guess. Better than a *broken* Switch or XBONE controller, which is more than can be said about the D-Pad)
