Normally in my sparrings I get punished a lot with teeps and side kicks when im applying pressure so could you do a video about applying pressure "safely" for the different type of guards? Thanks
Fitness & MMA Playlists which martial art are you practicing? I normally step in when I see a side kick or a teep coming my way with my shoulder forward taking the hit, if you're on time, the kick doesn't have much power and you can counter from the position bc they are off balance (most of the time) :)
The usage of the teep in Muay Thai is so you could stop your opponent from keep pressuring forward. So if you run into a teep, it's pretty normal when coming forward during sparring. There isn't really a safe way to come forward, because inside your opponent's reach there's always something he could do, so you just need to figure some things out that fit your own style.
BUT, when you get teep'ed more than once during a round you could 'fake' the pressure so your opponent would react by setting up the teep, and then reacting yourself by parrying the teep and counter it.
I would suggest drilling alot of teep counters, and after a while it would become 'routine' that you'd parry and counter every teep you see coming.
High-five his sole with yours
If you are applying pressure make sure he can't lift his legs
Another tip: make angles on him while pressuring forward. A teep comes in a straight line, so angles would make him miss.
Nice
Great content as always @fightTIPS !
Thank you Shane , your tips are really very incredible .
Needed this video for karate sparring thanks Shane 🔥🤘
Goods
Good solid stuff Shane! Thanks! Works well as long as people remember the have to really practice what they learn.
Lovely work circle parry out
Love you i am learning all fighttips from you
I like your performance ❤️❤️❤️
awesome bro
Sidekick is extremely underrated
Like it simple
Another great video Shane you really know your stuff mate really good at what you do 👍☯️
Duuuude pls come do a seminar in bend oregon
Your drills and technique breakdown are phenomenal. Im an amateur kick boxer and a martial arts instructor from NY. I use these vids for drills for my kids as well as for myself. Thank you for contributing to the martial arts/fight community. Lets go!
hey man can you do a video on how to block or counter kicks to the knee ???
Hey, rlly like ur stuff. Could u do a video of counters for someone who keeps catching a kick in Muay Thai.thanks
I can use this defensive move in self defense or street fights. That's awesome!!
spinning backfist is coming hard after that kick perry so be ready for that
Thanks
Hey shane! Can u pls make a video on kicking control
The side kick is a very powerful kick of done right. In Tang Soo Do we always do this with the back leg. Generates very much force.
yh but only if you can pop with the hips/ pivot the standing foot properly, its hard for beginners to get that timing
very good point bro
Benjamin King must be a shit martial art then ???,any good kickboxer gets hit with a sidekick of the back leg is a muppet, sidekicks are best used in side stance, sidekicks in this video only work against average fighters, higher level will not work as see it from a mile away, got to be a skipping sidekick watch raymond Daniels or wonderboy in side stance and fire it no telegraphing
thanks
Just what I needed. Would love to see some axe kick defense and knee stomp defense.
Shane how do i defend the oblique kick plz reply ?
i like to push with the arm and spin round the back into a back kick to the groin
Notification squad!!!!!
You should train with FaZe Sensei
Off topic but what's the best way to get rid of lower spine injury.
What about side kicks to the face?
DUDE! I was on my first kickboxing tournament and I watched your videos before that. 30 seconds into the fight and I crippled a guy with a strong low kick to the side of the knee. I saw that in your video, it's called "Calf Kick" or something. I was 2nd, but it went better than I thought it will.
Congrats on 2nd!
Congrats 2nd is good dawg keep grinding
Thanks dudes.
*_CRIPPLED FOR LYFE_*
Congrats on crippling someone for life!
Can you make make a video a video comparing your style mma hybrid gloves to standard mma glove for striking, grappling and even trapping similar to what is seen in wing chun
What editor do you use
Sweep it up or grab it and step to the outside pulling it to put them off balance.
Shane do a wanna workout in my garage episode with nate diaz
Why do you never use chamber in side kicks off the lead leg? So much more effective than skip in sides.
Best defense is probably a pivot, need to test though
tell me shane, i train taekwondo itf, and the rules do not leave me to hit from the back, so that technique i can not use. How can I hit the body? explain me.
👍
Can you do how to fight like Jack Dempsey??
Notification squad where you attttt
Hey Shane, in my sparring (Boxing) I get pressured a lot and tend to just walk back with my hands up and throwing shots leaning back. Can you please help me as to what I can try because this has been a big issue for me, I have the skills to work everything just can’t seem to learn how to evade of the back foot besides always pulling back. Thank you!
I'm struggling against the kick in point sparring. I have cerebral palsy, but I move well. I can hit my opponents when I get in close, but they use it to keep me away.
But, watch for the spinning back fist/elbow when you do this. If they are allowed.
Yea but, where I'm taught we're taught to basically always keep out heads back and our hands up so idk if a spinning backfist would be the best idea and a spinning elbow definitely wouldn't reach
depends, elbow can reach, if he can add a little step to the momentum. Fist can reach for sure.
where can i get those gloves?
1st and Biggest Fan!
My sparring partner likes to throw these at me because they’re annoying to deal with, so thanks for the tips!
What if it goes to head?
If you could do more videos on side kick defense that’d be fantastic as it’s one of my favorites also but I always struggle to block it with my arms.
One defense that works well for me is just taking my front leg and intercepting the kicking leg. (Place my foot over top of their thigh, shin, foot so they get jammed up)
I’d love to hear how others actually defend them in practice
Will you detail some techniques of the living legend Jorina ''Jojo'' Baars ? She's 44-0 in MT/KB she has a pretty flawless game. She's the only girl to have a W over Cyborg in the striking game. Her defensive game is impressive and she uses tons of feints like ''fake Stip"-jab-low kick, which is devastating. She might strike better than Ernesto Hoost himself. All her kicks mean danger. Honestly I've never seen anything such. Maybe it exists in Thailand, but this girl is the real deal
Side kick or teep?
Can someone explain "the side kick doesn't work" joke? Damn it Shane you got me all curious
Lol I noticed the parry to the sidekick was a traditional low block. So I love it when people say “traditional blocks don’t work bro”
Jai hind
Still gotta be on defense for spinning attacks even if you end up on their backside after the parry
I dont get why people say the sidekick doesnt work. You can break someones knee with it
Can you post a video on muay thai side teep kick
If ur talking abohut how to defend it, same thing like this video but alternatively you can sandwich the foot his your hands then just throw him wherever
Raphael Xaverius I think he means about the correct form and how you can possibly use it/set it up in a fight
The side teep Kick is essentially just a side kick but instead of using your heel or the blade edge of the foot like you normally would, you’d use the ball of the foot for more of a pushing effect as if it’s a teep 👍🏽
Also if you teep at a diagonal that counts too 👌🏽
Just go back few steps
when throwing a sidekick, make sure to lift your knee straight up instead of inward
even when you're hopping, sliding or stepping. This gives the kick more power, reduces the distance it needs to travel, increases its speed and makes the kick less telegraphed as you can throw many kicks from this position(hook, roundhouse)
Masyaallah
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍👍👍
I make my own moves
Because I like dbz and that inspire me to fight
Yup anime has my back a that inspired me to fight
Definitely works, i was dropped with one directly to the liver like last week
I'm early!
catch the leg and pull it
rip that groin teneden
Either angle when dodging is kinda sketchy because one side you have the right hand and the right kick to worry about and the other side after the side kick misses they can throw a spinning heel hook so after dodging close the distance quick
Yo Shane
What if he switches his knee placement and turns it into a roundhouse?
Or an axe kick?
High shin guard/three point defense. Axe kick? It's quite difficult to pull it from side chambered leg, easier to mix it up with classic front kick/teep.
Then I believe that would confirm the statement that no technique is 100% effective.
Then you are done 😹🤣

Side kick is great when used properly. But I personally wouldnt stick my hand out and try to parry the kick, especially when its coming at you full force. I train in karate and Ive seen people move or change angle slightly with the kick and the arm gets caught when the parry fails. Id rather not stick my arm out, but great video either way
How can you defend an uppercut ?
Head movement or parry it straight down.
@@devinstipe1711 where would you move your head though?
We need a tutorial on how to deal with an opponent that has gotten the fight tips before hand.
Hunter’s must learn how to counter an enemy’s attacks before going into battle.
difficult to do in a fight. Easier is to lean back for defense and come back with an active teep or conter with a hughe heymaker
stop, this is my favorite kick to throw😂
perfect for everyone with long limbs
Rac
In one fighting championship you always see how they used side kick
Like if Shane would have been a great Iron Fist character in a movie or the show
do a really training fight to learn from you
Early
teach the side kick but without the step. The "Wonderboy way"
Nice, should do a vid on how to counter a bigger stronger wrestler with jiu jitsu.
Punch them in the stomach
Galen_ Brown
Or maybe poke em in the butt.
BOOTYBALLS THEGOD once the jiu jitsu guy is on the ground with the wrestler chances are the wrestler will get submitted sooner or later
Fitness & MMA Playlists
I see. Yes I’m still training in JJ not enough experience but it’s so it can help me survive against bigger stronger opponents.
Yo Shane. Say hi back 😂
First
I love this kick but I'm so surprised when someone else uses it. Gotta learn the weakness to your own weapons huh?
🇸🇾🇸🇾🇸🇾
What if when you see the telegraph, you close the distance and throw some punches? Then your opponents stuck up on one leg with you too close for him to effectively kick. Sounds more efficient to me but I haven't tried it and you're the expert so what do I know?
"Sidekicks don't work!" 😅
*"It doesn't work"*
Words coming from someone who never even used it in a fight.
it's a joke. Didn't you hear that he said it was his favorite technique at the start of the video? It's because people on insta constantly tell him that it doesn't work.
*Mr. Pepe,* I KNOW it is a joke.
You don't get it.
I am saying it to the ones who are against Shane with how effective the side kick is.

Despite being an indian i can't celebrate my independence day..bcze i can't get independence from my partner's side kick to the stomach..i can evade (sometimes) it like lerdsila When he throws towards my face but when he throws towards my thigh or chest..i got wrecked.
And i also tried that bruce lee blocking the side kick..but i didn't work..my pal's kick is too strong..
Sidekick is the best kick going simple, you can’t defend the sidekick if used properly,it can be attacking and defensive, only problem what Shane showing is two types off sidekick, the best one and fastest one is one,is just fire it straight away hopping, best used to the knee, but works brilliant with the jab,and spinning backfist when missed,
Why doesn't it work? I don't get the joke?
He's constantly getting told by random people on Instagram
Top Lobster KICKS DON'T WORK BRO
STRIKES DON'T WORK BRAH
If you will your enemy, he wins.
Top Lobster people on Instagram are always saying side kicks don't work and he posts videos and comments on other videos saying things like "I thought side kicks don't work 🤔"
Most of the traditional Muay Thai guys say "Side kicks don't work"
Bruce Lee loved that side kick!
I honestly thought you were a yoga instructor when you had long hair
The side kick doesn’t work, LOL! That’s why when I was pressuring this guy at sparring today, lighting him up with straights and switch kicks, my poor organs took a beating 😂😂 that hopping side kick sucks!
🇮🇳🇮🇳Happy Independence Day
India
