Hey Mitchell, I enjoyed your video. One thing I wanted to point out is you mentioned to always wear PPE at 6:41. Thats Awesome! You were great on the first grinding operation, but then failed to wear eye protection for the rest of the grinding after that starting at 8:19. By the way, I will probably be purchasing that balancer. Thanks for your video!
Thanks for watching. Remember you can save 5% on MagnaMatic with code MLC5. Have a great day.
You his dad or something? 🤣 who cares?
Got my Mag 1000 today. I have 3 sets of blades, they were sharpened and balanced with the cone table top type balancer. Although it gets them close and after all it's all I've ever used I think in the long wrong it has helped my mower deck spindles (along with greasing them) I have never replaced a mower deck spindle. I'm very happy with my purchase. So I've re balanced all 9 blades plus 3 old junk blades, Anyway the Mag 1000 works and works Great! I would recommend it and I would recommend to stay away from the Chinese "knock offs" I've tried two of them and they were both junk. Even though the Mag 1000 is more expensive, You get what you pay for.
I tried the nail trick and realized quickly that it doesn't work! I upgraded to the cone style on the base and that didn't work real great either. I now have an oregon balancer like yours and it works great!
Oregon makes some nice stuff !
Ugh the nail works fine
@@Mamma1952 maybe…🤷🏻♂️🤣
Is there a land that I should leave on the cutting edge? Or should it be razor sharp?
This was a great video and presented by someone was intelligent, and not trying to act like an idiot, believe there is plenty of videos which have people who seem like they just can't help themselves. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Have a great day
Your outer edge is the most important because that is the edges that intersect with the other blade. I sharpen multiple blades, wide and narrow. I have the balancer that has the six mags on it. Took 4 off and it works like a charm. The mag on that sharpener is to wide for the smaller blades.
Nice little tutorial Mitchell
Glad you think so!
Appreciate how you take the time to explain the proper way to do things and why !! Thumb up 👍🏻 on the video!! Thanks again for your content!! Really like your channel.
I appreciate that!
I agree, why I subscribed. No ego or used car salesman mentality unlike other lawn maintenance channels etc.
What about the balances you buy tbat wobble that go on tabletop pyramid type shape ones ? They work
I don’t recommend them. The Mag1000 is a superior product. A nail on the wall doesn’t work either. The Mag1000 isn’t an expensive option and you can even save some money with my discount code MLC5. Hope you have a wonderful day.
@@mithgo_outdoor thanknyou
If you don't have an accurate blade balance, then your spindles can be damaged. Spindles cost far more than blades.
What do you think about the MAG 1000G ? From my research it mour Accurate. I'm going to get me one for my shop .
Very informative! Thank you! Thinking of buying the all American sharpener along with Oregon blade balancer.
Get the MagnaMatic blade balancer
Nice work buddy 😁
Thanks 😁
Talk to Gerd, the guy in the video, he's awesome and set me up with the new water system.
👊🏼 💥
Great video, but a little OCD. This will take forever to get the blades sharpened.
Thanks for sharing with us this video appreciations 🇩🇰👍
You’re welcome
Another great vidoe
I appreciate that!
Great video bro 👍
Appreciate it!
What if I all I have is a inexpensive balancing cone ?
Better than nothing, and certainly better than a nail on the wall.
Wow, real good stuff!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for the support
Sehr gutes Video. Aber warum bei Min. 6,54 mit Mundschutz und Schutzbrille? Ab Min. 8,18 ging es doch auch ohne. mfG.
Amazon wants $220 plus tax for a Mag1000. The cost of my blade brand new is $12, so I can just replace my blade with a brand new one 18 times and have some pocket change left over for the price of a little blade balancer.
👍🏼
Okay bruh
New blades are often Not balanced, or at least not very well.
FYI $220 is extremely overpriced. eBay has ones for $50-$60
How much for the mower
That’s a nice set up 👍
Thank You Sir!
Very nice setup! I actually have the Magmatic balancer and love it but just bench and hand grinder for sharpening blades. I manage ok.thanks for video.
Thanks for tuning in Mark, have a great day
Do you grease your sealed spindle bearings?
I haven’t
@@mithgo_outdoor that's a big contributor to failed spindles as much as blade balance. Even new motors, should grease them. Manufacturers do the minimum. Imo
Do new blades come balanced?
Some do, some don’t. I service new blades all the time for customers
This video should be titled "How to balance a blade on a mag 1000"
👍🏼
You never said anything about cleaning the dry grass off of the blade before you put it on the balancer
pretty cool set up, these look like the spinning chuck end off a wood lathe thats magentized
Thanks for tuning in
Had the same thought myself, I'm sure I have the necessary lathe equipment to do the same thing.
Great video! Thanks. You didn't put on your eye protection for the last few grind cycles. Ordered a Stens 750-087 MAG-1000 blade balancer. What about using a Dremel tool to sharpen the blade?
Can’t control the cutting angle with a Dremel.
It’s common to sharpen blades on every mower that comes in shop if customers approve it
Nothing is free, equipment is expensive now
Enjoyed the video very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Mitchell, quick question do u balance your blades while you sharpen or after you sharpen the blades? I start out with a balance then i count passes, after the passes i balance again as i go along. It seems like it takes me a long time to sharpen a set unless its my blades which i take off after 15 hours of use. Do i have the correct process or am i doing it the hard way?
sorry for the delayed response. I don't balance the blade until after sharpening.
Are new blades so expensive it's worth buying all that equipment I get it if your running many lawnmowers I also have no idea what all that cost but looks expensive 🙂
I offer a professional mower blade maintenance service to homeowners and contractors.
I guess it's a matter of perspective, I'm just a home owner, not a pro, my mower uses 3 blades at $22 each. I find they need to be sharpened or replaced 1-2 times a season at least. It does add up pretty quickly to just replace and discard....for me anyhow.
@@johndeaux9987 homeowners that have started using my service have found they aren’t buying new blades anymore. Under normal operating conditions and proper maintenance my service extends the life of the blade. There’s a lot of life in mower blades if properly maintained. I can service and/or repair a mower blade for less than what a new blade costs. I enjoy educating both homeowners and contractors in my local area. My customers have been thoroughly pleased and most are repeat customers.
@@mithgo_outdoor I agree 100%, that's what I meant. I sharpen my blades vs replacing, that's why the cost of equipment pays for itself quickly.
Mitchell this is Mike with A&M Lawn Care, LLC IN High Point. How do I go about getting some blades to you for sharpening?
Shoot me an email mtgordy@mitchellslawncarellc.com
Thanks god bless
Very Cool
Thanks for tuning in David
Coupon code doesnt work
Just found coupon code MITHGO. Looks like it’s 3% off the balancer but not the adapters.
@@bradleyduncan7351 yes the coupon code changed, I am updating the video now. Thanks for the reminder. As for the actual % it was supposed to be 5%. If MagnaMatic reduced it I was unaware.
@@mithgo_outdoor my blades have 6 pointed star holes. Do i really need the plastic adapters they sell?
God damn the dope must be str8 🔥 where ever your located I bet this dude can sharpen every mower blade in the tri-county area in about 48 hrs
100%
Do you really expect a home owner to spend $200.00 on a blade balancer? I can maybe see for some lawn service might. but a home owner that sharpen one or twice a season?
I don't expect anyone to do something that it's out of budget or need. For the homeowner you mention, I'd recommend taking the blades to a professional with the proper equipment to service them. If i was needing a set of blades sharpened that that little I'd never purchase this equipment...the return on investment would never equal out. I operate a service for homeowners and contractors, that's why I have the setup I do. Thanks for tuning in Cliff.
It’s a shop tool or large mower business which uses it every day
Your phone is $1,300.
@@UltraGamma25 no it is not. less than 35.00 $8.00 a month.
I ain't never
not surprised! lol
What are these engineers smoking when they started placing strange holes in the middle of these blades? I’m guessing that round holes are a thing of the past and way too complicated for them!
😂 it forces a customer to buy a certain blade unfortunately. I’m sure their argument is that it helps certain the blade to the spindle.
never balance not bad a problem yet these commercial spindles should hold up no problem
yes commercial spindles are tougher, but balancing blades prevents unnecessary vibrations among other things. Thanks for tuning in Shane, have a great day
Nail works the same way. Gravity is Gravity.
Contrary to belief, a nail doesn’t show a mower blades balance. When you put a mower blade on a nail it isn’t measuring from the true center of the blade.
It has very little friction to affect the balance. Good product.
Your nail is on one side, changing the center of gravity. It can be used but it's not going to be accurate.
Yeah, i we ignore the friction, not being on center, etc... like, life and the world is not that simple, i hope the 5 who liked your comment tought a little more about it.
It's not gravity. Mass is mass. Teeter totter. Go worship nasa now.
interesting, but you probably could have covered in less than 2 minutes.
Doesn’t matter what anyone does these days…someone has something to say about it.
