- If you are having hard starts, check engine light is on or you can see oil leaking from the ICP plug itself...time for a new sensor.
OIL LOCATED ON ICP CONNECTOR WIRES IS....NO GOOD !!
IF YOU UN-PLUG THE ICP SENSOR WHILE TRUCK IS RUNNING...YOU SHOULD HEAR A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN ENGINE SOUND WHEN FIRST UN-PLUGGED.
IF YOU DO NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN ENGINE SOUND, MOST LIKELY THE ICP SENSOR IS BAD OR THE ICP WIRE PLUG IS BAD... SATURATED WITH OIL.
FIX IT YOURSELF & SAVE THAT MONEY !!

I have a 2003 F350 7.3 basic maintenance has been kept up with on it. I drove it to school one weekend and on the way it was fine. However on the way back, I was about 10 miles from home and I sped up to pass a car and my truck suddenly acted like it was misfiring. I set my cruise control and it did fine but lost power and died on me when I came to a four way stop. I changed the oil (added arch oil too) and I cleaned out the fuel filter housing and replaced the filter. Truck still acts like it’s missing when I accelerate hard though. Any suggestions or advice would be great!
O rings on fuel injectors can be worn or some broken...that make it run rough, hard start or no start.
Fuel pressure sensor screws in side bottom fuel bowl..can. e faulty.
Unplug the IPC sensor..driverside front head..see if acts different.. lean plug and grease with dielectric grease on all plug wire connections.
Fuel pump might be going bad...easy fix ..under drivers fra.e rail..
Buy a bosh fuel pump...OEM..
Bad ECM...computer module...we had one that wouldn't start...swapped it with a good use one and fired up.
Hope this helps.

Have a very bad idling problem with my '01 7.3 which has a very uneven idle problem. Changed fuel sending unit, ICP, IPR and still doing it, shops everywhere I called say at least a month out to even get an appointment.. Any help ?
Could be a clogged fuel filter...easy fix.
Bad injector.
Water in fuel.
Air in fuel lines.
I would change the fuel filter and pour a few cans of diesel cleaner water remover, plus I use a sludge remover and they sell a enzyme bio bacteria remover, too.
If you know the fuel and filter is good and clean. Then you can test fuel pressure..make sure the pressure regulator is doing its job and fuel pump on frame is working.
Most times when those trucks run low on fuel...they will stumble and lope rough. Clears up when gas peddle is pushed and air is gone from fuel lines.
Low oil level in motor will also make it hard to start...not start or run rough...worked on one that stalled out on road..... 8 quarts low on oil...added oil...started up and ran fine...crazy....fuel injectors need good oil pressure to work correctly...they get pressure from motor oil.
Let me know.

Good fresh oil to correct level, new IPR like I had said, new fuel & filter with sending unit, new fuel & pump works great and strong, weird part is I unplugged oil pressure sensor (ICP) and it ran smooth but with little power. Parked it and got new ICP from dealership and replaced it, cranked up and it was doing same thing again. I guess I'll be tearing down the top end . Gotta get this beast running again before I lose my contacts and mind renting vehicles. Today's been rough ( my Chevy Impala's transmission went out while driving client to see paver stones) car's know how to throw you for an embarrassing loop
Sometimes the new sensors can be faulty...you can always return it for a new one and see if that's the problem.
