Lol cricket is one of the most unathletic, uncompetitive and easy to play sports out there. It's unimaginable that in a sports like football/soccer a team of part time players (US/Canada/Netherlands/Nepal) participate in a world cup event and be competitive. A team like Nepal which started playing cricket from yesterday and doesn't have a proper stadium or a cricket academy and sent school boys to play world cup nearly beat South Africa, the finalist team. Cricket is a country club sport controlled by 3 countries (India, England and Australia), is uncompetitive by design by creating caste system of who can play which format. In which sport apart from cricket can you find the ridiculous rule where only 10 countries are allowed to play a format of the game and rest are not even allowed to play it? Cricket as a sport is a joke.

Cricket should focus to expand in Europe, South America more as compared to usa cause I can see North American don't take cricket seriously.. even china could be better place for cricket as compared to USA..
China likes Olympics more, Individual sports over team sport, south america loves football more, just like europe. I'd say the muslim nations like UAE, Saudi, Oman, Iraq, Iran and southern african nations as well
@DeskLime I very much agree with you. Although not Europe but I do agree South America & China as more preferable than US. Brazil has made quite a progress lately & it seems to be steadily doing well in some of its neighbours also which is why I think South America should be a separate ICC region instead of being looped in the Americas which will always be US centric. Now with Cricket in the Olympics & Asian Games continuously hosting Cricket whenever they were in a Chinese city it seems Cricket has an improved chance in China too. Then there are other Asian countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Japan & Indonesia where also Cricket appears to be steadily growing. Africa is also continuously showing interest in Cricket & included Cricket in the African Games this year in Ghana.

Fot your information some schools are already started playing cricket. And creating school league short of and 400+ clubs have been introduced as a cricket club or in schools . They are working in grassroot level maybe not how much it's needed but they are doing something. And everything goes well then I see 10years later many stadiums and new fans .

honestly the ICC(International Cricket Council) has not done quite a lot to spread Cricket not just in USA but in other non Cricketing nations. To grow any sport it's not necessary for it to be popular. If you watch Olympics then you will find there is participation of almost all nations in the Track and Field events but it's not like Sprinting or Obstacle Race are popular in them. Those are popular just in USA and Jamaica which gave legendary athletes to the world. Same way ICC should not base their popularity as the only way to grow Cricket. Also BCCI with the huge chunk of revenue they generate they can help other struggling associations especially like Zimbabwe , Kenya who were already well established Cricketing nations but kind of faded away due to internal political turmoil. But BCCI is not completely evil as they are made to look by PCB and their fans for political reasons as we have the example of Afghanistan Team which was developed by BCCI by providing them a home ground in India.

With due respect I have to comment on your video . I like to ask a simple question in this regard . Do Americans hate skills in sports ? You mentioned football and hockey . But sir those are not the real name of the sports you were trying to explain . The football in USA what you call is actually American version of rugby . It has no connection with the game of football the world plays . So what you gonna do with the real sport of football ? You made an easy solution . You gave the game another name the sockker. For a football fan it sounds silly . And the whole scenario sucks. The meaning of hockey in America is actually the ice hockey . Both the sports do not need any skill to perform. Only the heavy unit guys deal in these sports . Where as , the real football and the real hockey do need skills. You hate skills that's why you made the baseball out of cricket . You have actually transform ed the game of cricket into baseball years ago for your own sake . To avoid the basic skills .

It's slowly growing popularity in Europe and other parts of Asia as well. The professional baseball leagues in countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico and Dominican Republic are pretty good and the last World Baseball Classic was a massive success and shows that baseball is a strong international sport. There's also hockey with leagues all over the world and stiff international competition.
I think there is potential. Probably a lot more than countries in Europe or South America. There is a massive number of expatriates from the UK, the Indian subcontinent, the Carribean and Oceania where cricket is very popular, living in the USA. As such, if the cricketing infrastructure keeps growing over here, more high-quality players who do not get opportunities in their home countries will come to play in the USA. The big money alternatives for athletic people who have been wanting to go pro in baseball would also perhaps see an opportunity in the growing commodity due to the similarities in the game. Soon you'll see expat families in their neighborhoods play cricket in their backyards or small alleys and parks and the native kids would also get curious. As far as spectators go, I think American RUclipsrs such as yourself can stand to make a lot of money by appealing to the billions of people in India by reviewing games and making anecdotal videos about the rules and this might bring in some interest your existing audiences as well. With the MLC being tied to the IPL, which is the fifth richest sports league in the world after the NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS among the leagues that are relevant to North America (13th if you look at it globally), there is every chance that both MLC and IPL will grow in tandem and for that growth, invest into grassroots development and scout very hard. Then there is the Olympics bringing cricket to LA in 2028. The unfortunate thing about this world cup was that the USA leg of the tournament was poorly planned due to the makeshift grounds and the fact that they catered to the prime time of the subcontinent for TV viewership over live attendance. Not a single game was even close to a sellout. That won't happen in the Olympics. And another MLC season is coming up soon. I think by 2030, if things keep going this way, USA cricket would see the kind of rise that Afghanistan had in the game, who were playing the likes of Japan 15 years ago and now finished in the semifinals of a T20 world cup managing to beat both New Zealand and Australia which are powerhouse teams.

@@Lal_topi No it won’t. Football (a.k.a Soccer) is 5th biggest sport in USA. The MLS is still not called World series of Soccer. The reason why Baseball finals is called World series is because many years ago, Baseball leagues from other countries were not on par with MLB. Since, they have the top Baseball players, the winners of World series of Baseball were given the World Champion title instead of the country that won the Baseball World cup. Even today MLB is the biggest Baseball league out there. Although in international baseball, teams like Cuba and Japan are way stronger than US these days. But in cricket, India already has the biggest T20 league, there’s no way USA will call their cricket league winners as World champion
Winning one T20 match doesn’t mean jack shit. Even if it’s against a first tier cricket playing country. Any team can win a T20 against any team on its day. Or if the other team is having an off-day……
Cricket was played in the Americas but after independence, they rejected it because it was played by former colonizers. Also cricket was a game for nobility in old England and the English saw the Americans as peasants with new money. So the Americans returned the resentment.
cricket and soccer is all about money these days, every sport is but they are trying every market with new found wealth. They will dip into any market if they think there is money to be made. I think even a small pie of US market is huge compared to any other country. There are huge south asian population in texas, cali and new york area, and they are one of the richest immigrants in US, they are trying to tap into that.

I'm not a fan of obsessing over promoting Cricket in USA & I'd prefer Cricket focus on Africa, South America & Indo-Pacific Asian countries instead. But it's absurd to say “there's not much of a history when it comes to Cricket in the USA”, there's probably more history of Cricket in USA than in the Caribbean at least till the 1800s. Even in early 1900s American Cricketers toured England to play against English Counties & England as well as Australia toured US. It all stopped probably after the founding of ICC (then Imperial Cricket Conference, now International Cricket Council) which didn't allow membership to countries outside the British Empire.
Jarrod Kimber has a better video on Cricket's history in USA, it focuses more on Bart King probably among the best Cricketers in the world of the time & certainly the greatest Cricketer USA ever produced so far.
