I feel like that’s a very easy way to show she was not a fan, nor watched the original broadway show, because the poster is that iconic. My sister and I re-enacted it after we watched it. This is also why celebs need a social media team or they expose themselves like this.
Actually the fan edit that got Cynthia to take this too personally is pretty good and was done with love for the upcoming movie. Hiding the eyes indicates that the character in the story has secrets to hide and the smirk smile in red lipstick also adds to that mystery. Is she wicked or is something else going on here? That was the meaning of the original poster. It's okay Cynthia. We'll still love the movie even in your diva moments☺♥
This why the audience is turning on these actors like this. Like, girl get over yourself. If this is the most offensive thing you’ve ever experienced than consider yourself blessed.
Sorry for all the comments but I can’t help myself lmao..I love how your studio looks with all the lights! So beautiful! The star on the Christmas tree is perfect. 💜
I’m sorry but I’m not sure why she took it so personally. They were just editing it to look like the musical’s poster. This all seems a bit much to me.
So funny...i saw an article this morning about her work on Broadway in the color purple and how she's not involved in the remake nor was she invited to the screening party....I wonder why...
The thing with the “is your p**** green?” question is that it’s an old picture from years ago of graffiti on the original poster with Glinda asking Elphaba that question, since then it’s become a meme within the wicked/broadway fandom. Also the edit poster I feel wasn’t made out of malice, because Ariana is also edited with her hand covering her mouth and dimple, and the only thing edited to Cynthia was put red lipstick and pull the hat down to cover her eyes, exactly like the musical poster. It 100% isn’t aimed towards Cynthia. She’s entitled to her feelings but she definitely overreacted a bit
They edited the poster to resemble the original and it was beautiful. People are so damn sensitive, they don't know when people are trying them or not. These creative fans are respecting the roots of the original which should've been done in the first place. When entertainers don't respect the roles they are portraying, especially with redos, it kills my interest in the movie/show. I wanted to see the movie, now I'm aggravated.
I'm starting to think at this point that with every new movie, one of the leads is expected to create some type of non-drama as a form of promotion. Looking at you, Blake
I don’t know much of her career, but part of me thinks that this may be a case of dealing with microaggressions, where she’s faced so many instances of discrimination/ harassment on her looks and ethnicity in the past so even though this poster wasn’t likely made to insult her, she still saw it that way. I personally like the green lipstick look more, as the red with the painted face kinda gives off vaudeville vibes.
I do see where she is coming from. She doesn’t find the humor in any of this stuff or the creepy AI stuff. She should take herself serious as she is very very talented and probably wishes people were more serious about the film that so many worked hard on and didn’t meme on it so hard. And all the other narratives people are saying about her are not fair, she said how she felt in the post. To erase and edit her face off the poster to best fit a drawing is to erase her identity. As people of color, we are well aware how extreme the erasure of black and indigenous history in America is and should be more sensitive to things like this. She is a black woman in a huge lead role and her face was edited off the poster by fans. Might have not been with malicious intent but it still offensive and could’ve been hurtful to see as Cynthia.
You should look up the comments she made about black Americans because she is not the ally you think she is. She's literally anti-black, she only uplifts upper class Africans.
Because of what she did, the person who posted the fan-edit was getting threats and their home address was revealed. What Cynthia did was incredibly dangerous for that person. And all of her black features were not erased in the slightest. She was pissed because anything that obscures her face upsets her because she is a narcissist.
@@AWren-mh2zx Regardless of the intention of what the fan was doing, Cynthia can still feel offended. That’s like someone saying a joke about you and you didn’t find it funny but instead hurtful, and the person just tells you to suck it up and laugh that you’re feelings don’t matter because they didn’t mean it. She didn’t wish harm on anyone, she simply said that she didn’t appreciate her face being edited off the poster ALONG with an explanation on why the poster was chosen. Idk how yall gonna call her a narcissist for that, but not anyone else who doesn’t appreciate what fans have done. Ariana doesn’t like people doing impersonations of her and has told the person to stop and they haven’t is Ariana a narcissist for not liking it? Should she just be happy someone is impersonating her just because they mean no harm? Should she have just stayed quite even tho people might come at the person? No. Because they are human and have opinions and feelings. People can express how much they don’t like something, the same as they can express how much they enjoy something. Yall just bandwagon on hate instead of showing empathy for one another when someone expresses how they feel about something. How can you tell someone they are wrong for feeling a certain way? When yall the one who made her feel this way?
@@arkilla312 Now I'm seeing that she has a history of this kind of behavior. She's called the Rachel Berry of Broadway. She once got upset that she got fancast as a Muse for a make-believe Hercules movie. That she's "too talented" to be a side character. Even though the Muses are arguably the best thing about Hercules. She also had a part to play in having a Broadway show shut down and cost 200 people their jobs. She is absolutely full of herself. She is entitled to her feelings, but she shouldn't have publicly shared them; or at the very least, shouldn't have included the handle of the fan account that posted it.
@@AWren-mh2zx she has the right to value her own worth. You don’t measure her worth. She can say she doesn’t want to be a certain role if she wants lmaooo. I wonder if Ariana did this if she would get hate… And don’t make things up, she never tagged the fan account. She just reposted the photo, expressing her feelings. AND LOL again bc I could say the same that you don’t have to express any opinions about her to you but look at where we are. i’m not invalidating her feelings, however the poster being edited is nowhere near the sexual jokes/questions she’s received (such as is your ____ green)
That is a LONG running joke in the wicked community and is in line with a plot element of the book. If she can't handle the culture around Elphaba, she shouldn't sign on to play her.
asking if the ***** was green is an understandable reason to be upset. cus like, having people think of you in that way definitely is upsetting and can make you uncomfortable. so i feel her on this one. BUT BEING MAD OVER THE ACTUAL COVER BEING CHANGED IS A BIT MUCH …
To be honest the edited one looks better though. Lol. She's a total drama queen and needs to check herself. Maybe she's been hanging around Grande for too long. She's starting to take on her mean-girl attitude.
A lifetime of discrimination and derogation makes you into a paranoid overly sensitive person. And that’s ok. Maybe in some way she was very proud and happy with her twist on the Hommage picture. How they are both equally a maincharacter. She as a black women, playing a complex developed character. Whatever it is…feminism and activism is also letting each other be cringe and unperfect🤷🏼♀️ Of course it’s goofy… but let’s keep it cuttttte.
Thats the thing she hasn't really experienced that, and I say that because she has shown discrimation against black Americans MULTIPLE times. And I doubt if she went through the same thing she would be doing the same thing to black Americans. She's just overly sensitive for no reason and people have been saying she's a problem starter for years.
The edited one looks great. In the one she made, She looks like a smirking black grandma..😭
Right . If anything she looking like she "mocking us" in the original poster💀😭😭
When the actress forgets that SHE IS NOT THE CHARACTER she was paid to portray.
That modified one looks better.
TBH THE FAN EDIT IS FIRE
She needs to get a grip. Imagine thinking _this_ is the most offensive thing you've EVER seen... not war, CSA, hate crimes, etc. COME ON
Of course the theatre kid will be dramatic about the most 😂
If Cynthia doesn’t shut up and sit down she is gonna make a lot of Wicked fans like myself, NOT wanna go see it. She just reaching at this point
Exactly I plan on seeing it. So she needs to STFU cause I can see myself waiting til it's free on RUclips 😂😂🤷🏾♀️
The PR team must be fuming rn
tbh the edited one lookss fye and waaayy better 😢
Haha that last bit was sooo unexpected. Omg so hilarious
Them editing her face in the hands pic had me *weak* 😂
I'm just glad the fan-made actually moved Ari's hand up a little to actually look like she was whispering. It actually bothered me more!
It’s not that serious 😭
A walk to remember was the saddest shit 14 yr old me ever saw at the time😭😭😭 I was so broken
I remember that movie , 😢 it was sad but hopefully!🫶🏽🙏🏽
She is known to be an extreme personality. Make a joke about the drama, have a giggle, and let the fans hype themselves up.
lmaooo trolling the easily offended
This why the audience is turning on these actors like this. Like, girl get over yourself. If this is the most offensive thing you’ve ever experienced than consider yourself blessed.
Let that woman have her own lived experience...........geesh!
The poster didn't cause drama, it was Cynthia, no sympathy from me
this absolutely in fact does NOT degrade “us”
I’m sorry but that last edit took me outttt 😭😭😭
Sorry for all the comments but I can’t help myself lmao..I love how your studio looks with all the lights! So beautiful! The star on the Christmas tree is perfect. 💜
A edit photo is from a fan this edit photo are not used for the promotion so she shud just stay positive.
The edited on looks better 😂 keep it !!!
It just not that deep. She’s been over dramatic
Narcissistic mothers are the worse, i pray fir your healing 🙏🏽
Bro people just find anything to be pissed about online atp
*Cynthia:* _"😢Oh, you're erasing my true self! So offensive. So degrading. Worst thing that could happen to someone.😭"_
*Elphaba:* _"Bruh... 💀"_
I’m sorry but I’m not sure why she took it so personally. They were just editing it to look like the musical’s poster. This all seems a bit much to me.
Thank you, “we’ve lived two different lives” is exactly right. I can see both sides of this, the original poster is classic, iconic.
Also speculating about whats between Elphaba's legs is canon to the book. If you can't handle the lore, don't take the role.
Yo, that “Fixed it” troll was TOP TIER. Had me crying, much like they’ve been been insufferably doing this entire PR tour.
Girly needs to chillll it’s not that deep. She opened up a whole new can of worms with that one😂
I am so excited for this movie 😭they are both incredible singers 😭❤!!!
I mean, I like the edited one better. It’s a better representation of the story. That’s why they used it in the original poster. This is a wild take.
The stare is so lifeless and no smile the edited poster is way better
Cynthia, there are people dying
They edited the poster to resemble the original and it was beautiful. People are so damn sensitive, they don't know when people are trying them or not.
These creative fans are respecting the roots of the original which should've been done in the first place.
When entertainers don't respect the roles they are portraying, especially with redos, it kills my interest in the movie/show. I wanted to see the movie, now I'm aggravated.
I'm starting to think at this point that with every new movie, one of the leads is expected to create some type of non-drama as a form of promotion. Looking at you, Blake
Any press is good press😂
An opinion of someone's reaction to an opinion on someone else's opinion, about an opinion circulating on the internet. ⭐
Her voice is one of the most powerful voices I heard in a movie. That woman can sing ♾️🫶🏾
She's literally been guilty of more micro aggressions than she's been on the receiving end of, so nah she just needs to check her ego
“We’ve lived two different lives if this is the worst thing you’ve seen”…”epic statement😩😹
Why should you shame her for wanting to be a main cast not a side character? Why shame a black woman for speaking up for herself? I wonder if Ariana did this if she would get hate…
And don’t make things up, she never tagged the fan account. She just reposted the photo, expressing her feelings. AND LOL again bc I could say the same that you don’t have to express any opinions about her to you but look at where we are. You degrading a talented black woman that you do not know just because she didn’t like a fan edit.
Her resume speaks for itself.. she IS too talented. And all her peers agree with her.
Yea but she’s forgetting it isn’t about her though!! She’s just a character
i’m not invalidating her feelings, however the poster being edited is nowhere near the sexual jokes/questions she’s received (such as is your ____ green)
BUT BEING MAD OVER THE ACTUAL COVER BEING CHANGED IS A BIT MUCH …
Apparently, narcissists come in EVERY color…
Also: greenface, in 2024?! I thought we were past that 😂
To be honest the edited one looks better though.
Whatever it is…feminism and activism is also letting each other be cringe and unperfect🤷🏼♀️
Of course it’s goofy… but let’s keep it cuttttte.
This is not too say she hasn't been racially profiled before, but that has nothing to do with how she acts.
@@lennybennyyright the lifetime of derogatory statements was the stuff Cynthia says about other people. She has thrown so many other people and projects under the bus to elevate herself. Her concept of race and inclusion is "what benefits me personally, screw literally everyone else,. Also have I mentioned how stupid I think black Americans are??" Like nah, she is the last person I want to hear from about this issue. Not until she takes accountability for how she actively participates herself
Is that why she discriminates against other black women? 🤨
The second poster is much better.
The only good point I've seen for her case is "why didn't they edit Ari then?"
They did. They moved her had up higher to match the poster and it covers some of her face. She literally has no argument at all
They literally did… Are you blind???
Nah cause I was in stiches when I saw the edited version of Cynthia holding Ariana’s hand
So homage to the play that you converted into a movie... is offensive?.. bffr 😂😂
