I feel like one chameleon met another chameleon and they keep reflecting off of one another to the point where they’re becoming an amalgamation called Glynthiana
No. Chameleon like going through life over compensating for your insecurities by being what you think people around you need. Kind of 1 part placating, 1 part silencing your authentic self and sacrificing that for power. The victim mentality definitely fits in there @xxxxOS
@HelloRandoit’s so weird how theatre culture is so much friendlier and kinder and accepting than on screen film? obviously there’s fake, annoying people in theatre, a lot of them, but the people around them recognize their toxicity and isolate them a bit, at least to my experience. whereas film, the most insufferable people get the best roles?? maybe that’s just because theatre is much less accessible for people to attend, so there’s not a whole lot of fame in it, and the fame is what those people love?? i don’t know. it’s just weird to see how strikingly different they are.
People always smelled the bullshit. It's just that celebrities now demand opportunities to shovel the shit onto our screens at a rapid pace. Its on them
I used to feel bad when I learned that acting was historically a "dirty" profession and that an actors' opinions would be the last thing anyone would give a damn about. Now, I hope that attitude becomes the norm again.
Both women look incredibly sick. Obviously something is happening that’s deeper than these actors role in the camp musical Wicked. Press junket interviews are typically just that - not narcissistic indulged support groups about two handholding actors diverting attention from the character they’re playing in the movie they’re promoting - to themselves as individuals
I feel like they are running on fumes. They don't answer questions about the film with deep instrospection. They say something half-baked then start welling up. It's clear something is going on (and it has nothing to do with the movie), but they don't have enough calories, sleep, or emotional regulation to express it.
Spending years together making both of their dream movie + competitive eating disorders = insanely intense emotional and codependent friendship. My theory is that they’re just running on fumes at this point with all the constant traveling, movie promo and hunger.
I heard rumours that both of them were put on diets to make them look thinner for Hollywood. I hope it's not the case, cause that's really fucked up. 😨But it would help to explain a few things.
Same. It's really off-putting.. I choose films based on whether I like the cast 😅 which is not very often lol but I can't help finding Ariana annoying and I don't think she means to but she comes across as fake, I believe she might have some kind of personality disorder as she's always changing her personality, even her voice and as an autistic person myself, I always find it hard when people don't seem genuine. Which I see in a lot of the famous people tbh.
There has to be some drama going on for sure. It feels like they're trying too hard not to be too "Blake Lively" on this bc there was so much drama around her interviews with and now they are trying to hard to be emotional and caring😅
Well, there's two possibilities: 1. There's something wrong with these people. 2. They are just doing an act: every question they don't have a simple answer to, which honestly is almost every question, one of them starts crying to distract from the fact that they don't have an answer. Mind you: the two possibilities are not mutually exclusive, so it could be both.
The fact that Ariana went behind the back of a vulnerable wife with a new baby, to have an affair with her husband, and now sit there with her baby-voice and pretend to be so innocent and crying from emotion... did you think about that lady's emotions? No? Then why do you think we care about yours?
I have a feeling the way they dress in those movies is based on actors... That, or the actors saw the movie and didn't realize the capital were the bad guys. Kind of a chicken and egg situation.
The fact that the film started off with the controversy of ariana being a homewrecker to family with a new born baby and then her writing a song basically saying yeah i did that and what? And for her and cynthia go on about kindness just infuriates me istg
yeah this is it for me too. Especially Ariana has proven to be driven by getting whatever she wants. Not only men but everything in her life. So many other celebrities have said so about her. Call me crazy, but she is just. not. kind.
@jennynash298 I'm not an Ariana Grande fan because she used to have a very different personality to what she has now. Now, she speaks like a Disney princess despite presumably being 31. It's just creepy to me how she tailors her personality, body and speech, even the tone of her voice, but I don't understand for what reasons.
And now she’s trying to gaslight gatekeep girlboss the narrative, spinning it so she comes out on top as a woman who’s had to endure so much hate for the simple mistake of falling in love. Also I will never forgive Cynthia for what she did to The Great Comet musical; WE COULD’VE HAD MANDY PATINKIN BACK ON STAGE 😭 The film will definitely do great and they probably really did a really good job, good for them! But they’ve never been authentic for a second, which is becoming very obvious on this press tour.
Who cares it already happened, people end up in those situations all the time in life. You only care because it’s Ariana grande. FYI it’s the responsibility of the person in the relationship to not cheat. I never got the homewrecker trope when the person who is actually IN the relationship is the only responsible for being loyal to their partner/family.
IMO, I just think it’s post performance blues. It’s a real feeling and many actors get emotionally drained when a fictional identity is ripped from them. Imagine taking on this childhood role, and long hours of bonding w their members.
I get that they are trying not to ruin their makeup but their eyes are not even watery. Maybe thats how rich people cry they just act innocent and victim and until someone comforts them
I just had to laugh when Cynthia said she was communicating emotion with her eyes on the poster. Not that we don’t communicate emotion with our eyes but just because I got absolutely nothing from that poster.
Right? In every clip of the film, they look dead-eyed and bored. Remember, these are roles originated by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith. They’re supposed to radiate personality!
I think people are forgetting that they're actors, so even though it might seem genuine (it doesn't) it probably isn't. The giveaway for me is that when they have these emotional episodes, you can see their brains going a hundred miles a minute carefully thinking about what to say next. It's not genuine at all.

Ever since she's took that man away from his family, she's been talking like a whimsical fairy princess like her character...I think it's almost to make her seem less like a villain
Ariana Grande has always been fake. I understand people change, but she is constantly changing her persona. She goes from Lolita sex kitten to this lucent fairy princess act. In reality, she has quite a large roster of being the other woman or cheating on her own partners
@@flyleelee5351 I agree to you point but I want to address one point , the husband chose to leave the family and be with ariana . He is main reason the family broke , she IS still a part of the problem but not at all completely. @@heysunshine_058thank you this is exactly what I said. People only care because it’s Ariana grande. Because why is she getting a majority of the blame when the husband is the one who betrayed his family? She probably didn’t even know at the beginning.
@Alecexo People are mad because she's stolen tons of men already and it's poor character to do that & normalise it in society. Yeah the husband is most to blame but Ariana knew fine well he was married with a literal new born and slept with him and that is unbelievably gross and cruel. She's not a nice person. No one who sleeps with married men is a nice person. Cheating is wrong but being the woman who enables the cheating is just as wrong too. Both Ethan and Ariana are terrible people, as well as fake. Don't be brainwashed that these are good people Ariana is a horrible corrupt person and it doesn't matter if it's ariana or not people like me will always condemn cheating & cheating enabling & just poor character over all in anyone in the public eye. Her behavioural shouldn't be accepted. Were all sick of nasty people being treated like good people because they 'sound' sweet. Ariana isn't fooling anyone but children that she's a good person in anyway. Shame on her and all women who enable cheating lousy men to get sex. Cheaters and bad women deserve each other tbh. But we all know she will leave this guy as soon as her next project comes along. This is a very weak comment. Diana Ross and many blk singers and actors used to be barred from going to certain places because they were blk. You can have all the money in the world, but in a ra-cist society many opportunities can be barred and taken rather quickly. It's not that simple.
I think that the “over-emotional”-ness comes from the incredible amount of work everyone in this film put in. I think because we only get to see the results, we can’t appreciate just how much of themselves they poured into this. You can tell from their performances how much they have worked for this. Living up to such an iconic broadway performance has got to be the most emotionally exhausting and full filling thing an actor can do. For them this is an experience they have probably dreamed of for so long (since it took so long to make). And especially because performing is such an emotive art form, I can totally see how they would be as emotional as they are.
If it was a series taken from the book many this would be distrubing the traveling circus animal/sexual acts , elpies family background, the scarecrow government then getting torn apart , the animal human magic rights and jail. The video talks about the actresses, though, not the movie. In the movie, they play characters. They're saying words from a script. The criticism in this video is not related to the movie whatsoever, but the behaviour of the actresses outside of it. Have you even watched the video....?
So it’s a really good underdog story? If that’s the case I can understand why people feel emotionally connected to it. Thank you for explaining your thoughts :)
I'm so glad you made a video and we can talk about this. The crying, the touching, the multiple matching tattoos, the compliments and praises, the voices they use. I understand "women supporting women" and "friendship". I get it. But it's a bit much! It doesn't look healthy. Are they doing it for the movie??
It's all nauseating. Why should I support someone just because we share the same equipment? I guess when I become a Westerner, I'll be able to understand such a stupid mentality.
I don't know anything about either of these broads, but I do remember seeing an interview clip of Arianna Grande. The reason I remember it is because I was surprised how deep and gravely her voice was for such a pint-sized human. It's weird hearing her try to speak in a seductive whisper now...
This type of behavior reminds me of couples who overdo the PDA to show how “in love” they are when it in fact looks showy and unnatural. Unusually it’s not a healthy relationship.
Those emotions are fake, meaning they aren't even good actors. Fake emotions, fake, overpaid people. Wouldn't even watch their film for free, thank you.
It's called botox, my guy. Gen Z and Millenial women haven't had real cheek bones for like 10+ years. (Look at them from any angle other than straight ahead and tell me how much those "cheekbones" fit with the rest of their cranium. If they were *actually* solid structures? Then their skulls would have to have tusks.)
@ephraimwinslow botox doesn't give you cheekbones it freezes your face. Filler can be used as can implants for the cheeks . The other thing they're doing is removing buccal fat pads in the face to make the cheekbones stand out more . The fat pads cannot be replaced with filler , and this is a trend many surgeons warn against and refuse to do. When you age and become hollow this will not look good
@@journeytoform It's wonderful that you can admit that publicly. (My point was: the "cheekbones" in question are obviously the result of cosmetic surgeries -- such that you can tell at a glance. You can tell some of these actors and actresses haven't done a hard day's work in their lives. As for the rest of us, as long as you keep your yard decently clean, we're good.
Thank you for adding this perspective. I hate it when the criticism swings too far the other way, claiming movie makers have forgotten their place: they are just for entertainment. Films perform an essential function: to entertain, yes, but also to inspire and ennoble the human spirit.
yep exactly. Yet the actual writers don't get to go on press tours and get emotional at the impact *they're* having on people. No, instead they have to strike for better pay, fear for their job security because of ai, and watch as actors take all the credit.

Honestly, I think that either something happened or the drastic malnutrition of both actresses has impacted their brain and emotions. Both got SOOOOO skinny, it's crazy.
I keep saying this - there's so much untapped talent in the world. I see community theater productions that rival Broadway, independent film, student films, local improv troops etc. If I was a filmmaker, I'd focus on all that fresh undiscovered talent. For one, it keeps the costs of production low, and two - you'd work with truly humble actors thanking their lucky stars that their dreams were coming true. Finally, I remember reading about a director who liked to work with unknowns because he said it felt more real and immersive. When you see a well-known star playing a part sometimes it takes you out of the moment because you know their face and other roles pop into mind.
Completely agree but I bet a large number of those actors do it because they love the craft and not the fame that could ruin their lives and the lives of the people around them
Tell this to entertainment industry executives. When a project is as big as Wicked, it cannot fail. They cannot risk it putting it on hands of unknowns. They cast Cynthia and Ariana, especially Ariana, to conquer a whole market and tap into it to sell tickets, merchandise, etc. If it was about talent only, I think Cynthia has a better case for it than Ariana, but we all know many Brodway actresses could play and sing as much as these two can.
@GBop89 I never said that, I know there's good ones. I'm just saying there's a lot of undiscovered talent, and it would be cool to tap into. It would make a lot of talented unknowms very happy to make their dreams come true. Side note - there's lots of community theater actors that can be divas too, I'm sure. Nobody's perfect. I'm just saying why do we have to see the same faces over and over, especially when there's other talent out there who would really appreciate the opportunity?
Because the creators of the movie are literally making them. Do you not know how promo works? Every movie sends the main cast on a press tour to gain attention for the premiere… this isn’t exclusive to these two
@Alecexo when they make it woke, they make it all about themselves. Secondly, they are not that good at promo, seeing as many people are turned off by the movie, you claim that they are sent out to promote.
@@AlecexoI mean, not every movie. More to the point, the writers and directors used to be the ones who got the glory. Thats why so many people remember Tarantino's name. I havent heard the focus on a director in a while
@ they are told what to do and say in these interviews like I said. If you see a press tour for a movie and think their answers aren’t rehearsed, then you need to rethink that.
I don't mind people crying out of true appreciation for their co-workers and their hard job and for knowing what got them to the top. But crying every three seconds just kinds shouts "I'm emotionally blackmailing you so you don't talk bad about me"
hmm while yes I get your point I do think it was unnecessary to completely minimize her negative experiences as a black queer woman bc though yes it’s somewhat accepted in western culture there is still a lot of discrimination that comes from this
I have a theory that the producers instructed them to be fake, cringy, and over-emotional in interviews so that clips of it would errupt all over social media and become memes to boost the film... If that's the case, genius advertising.
I don’t think so. I don’t think you can just pretend. I think they’re both like that especially Cynthia and so they probably leaned into it or encouraged it but not just perscribed it from scratch
I really don't want to judge someone based on what they wear, but... why is it so hard for celebrities to put on something that doesn't look it was taken from clown's wardrobe?
It’s called “fashion”, they’re not at the supermarket or at the DMV, they’re at an interview or red carpet, of course they’re gonna wear an artistic piece of clothing
“Can we bring back adults?” Omg yes! For real!! I think social media has played a huge role in the lack of authenticity and humility. It isolates us from truly being around people and in the real world and that kind of bubble can be isolating and make it hard to connect with others in real life. It also enables people to think a lot more about themselves since they post about their feelings, opinions, etc, and I think that’s why we see so meant people making things about them and being prone to being more emotional, rather than restrained and dignified.
I'd say it's folded in on itself. We already had a long era of people in the media being restrained and dignified. The problem was that this became an extreme in the opposite direction in some instances, where a very emotional situation was treated with roboticism (or if the person was emotional, they were judged for not keeping things professional). RUclips was a breath of fresh air and took off partly because creators weren't like the stuffy TV media. They were themselves and just filmed in bedrooms or other quirky personal areas. Back then, authenticity was real because it was a side effect, not a goal. But as with most things, once enough people praise something for a certain attribute, that attribute becomes flattened and caricatured. Now, emotion = authenticity to many. The solution isn't to go back to restraint and dignity as a prime target. What we need is a goal that allows both for real emotion and encourages maturity.
For me it’s the nose piercing, mostly, but also the claw nails and then the piles of earrings. I just find all those things jarring on anyone. But mostly…I can’t with the septum piercings. I don’t know why anyone would ever get one 😳 I agree she looks amazing as Elphaba
Since the beginning of Hollywood, actors have always been manufactured though, and the studios worked hard to make stars somewhat relatable. For example, when Elizabeth Taylor was a teenager, there were a myriad of articles printed about how she was 'just a regular girl' going to the beach and to football games. Elizabeth herself said later that it was all rubbish. Expecting authenticity from Hollywood is like expecting water in a desert. Hollywood, by its nature is all superficial and contrived.

That's why most are completely insane. They were never normal to begin with.
Worked hard? Come on. They worked mid at best. (Hard work literally scars you. No one who has the time and energy to put out daily tweets and/or reels talking about how fab their day was actually working hard.)
The irony of the defense is that the fan made the poster did it in reference to the art of the character. So there couldn't have been a need for her to 'defend' her character because there was nothing being done that was reducing it. That would be like Keanu Reeves getting mad that someone made the Sonic 3 poster have Shadow in the same pose he was in for SA 2
@@hk1371 K. Now imagine you're a professional narcissist whose primary drive in life is literally (explicitly, by your own admission) BEING SEEN. And it's high time you figured it out.)
@ephraimwinslow oh yeah, I know. Thats why I'm pointing it out. It's because she isn't "defending the character". She's being, as you said, a narcissist.
I remember when watching celebrities was always fun and interesting and entertaining...and now we have Brie Larson, Rachel Zegler, and the cast of Wicked. And the effect is the opposite: I hate these people and I would never want to see them in a movie. How has Hollywood gone so wrong for so long now?
Because Gen Z and younger Millennials, a main sector of their target market, are not all that bright generally speaking and so they don't know what talent is.
What the heck are you talking about Wicked is a story told from an entirely different perspective than the Wizard of Oz. the wicked witch isn't entirely evil or good and neither is elphaba
It's ok. Just let it flop. If there are people, who want to reward this nonsense, let them waste their money. But it won't be a lot of people, Universal will lose money and they won't try this on us again.
If you saw those two walking down the pavement towards you, you'd be like "what the hell?"... Ariana is skeletal, and Cynthia's nails... well, I guess she doesn't wipe very thoroughly.
I've spent an embarrassing amount of time thinking about that problem... and my best guess is: They use the heel of their palm. It wouldn't work very well... but it would work well enough to serve as a stopgap measure before taking a shower.
This gives me hunger game vibes. I grew up a theater kid and ADORED wicked. I’ve read the book before it was a show. I have a “meh” feeling about this movie because it feels so vapid and surface level. The women are very talented singers and actresses so I hope the same intensity and energy brought to the stage is brought to the screen. I don’t think I’ll see it in theaters but maybe I’ll watch it when it comes out on streaming
Honestly, you’re completely the problem to say that adults cannot be in tune with their emotion is a disgusting. Take to literally say that being in touch with your emotions is in sincere is completely delusional. What do you want? Is toxic Hollywood the type of Hollywood that drove peopl off the deep end, we need to fill our emotions. Any therapist would say the same thing and honestly, if you think somehow that you are responsible for saying somebody’s feelings are valid or not then you are completely entitled.
your commentary is so real it's refreshing. I go to a Dramatic Arts school for theatre design and we always talk about the role of the actor, and thankfully there's been more of a conversation lately about shifting focus from the actor as the driving force of the play, realizing that everything that's in the stage matters, and how actors need to rely on what's outside of themselves to perform. I also think that they hold so much to the victim mindset because it's all they have to be relatable, and the only way they can justify not being humble, like "I won't stop being this way because after all I've suffered I deserve being treated however I want, or being given whatever I want". I think Western society clings so much to labels, that they've become their personality. You can't just be queer, or just black, or just latin, they seem to be badges of honour for who suffers the most, ergo, deserves the most. I'm not mad about people being proud of where they come from, or who they are, but it does seem phony when your lifestyle and your actions don't align or help the community you are so actively still trying to be a part of, kinda like JLo still trying to cling to the Bronx and being from the block lmao
The lack of maturity on display kind of exemplifies how so many current influences try to encourage self-centered/childish behavior, including not being introspective or being critical of yourself or what you're likely being told to believe and accept.
Im using this as a therapy for “feeling comfortable with being uncomfortable”; I’ve had to stop the video like 3 times now. I haven’t being able to do it to the full video yet. Hyperventilated couple times, almost threw up.
What I love is how they act as if the movie they’ve acted in is the first virtuous movie to exist simply because they’re in it and their particular identity is in the starring role. As if movies with morals, friendship, and important messages haven’t been existing in media for decades, regardless of the racial or sexual identity in the starring role.
And as if every library book in the fantasy genre isn't this same cliche story about a 'freak' who a bunch of undeveloped, strawman side characters keep persecuting and bullying with no motivation. I never liked this trope, it's unrelatable and relies on strawmen. Who is supposed to be believable, Glinda? I know it's supposed to be fun to relate to a victim, but this trope is soooo overused and boring at this point. Every library book in the world. Why can't they just write real characters.

Well I think many people can tell you that art got them through tough times. It’s really not that conceited lol. You just don’ vibe with this art in particular. This is the problem with right-wing talking points: y’all start trying to make “common sense” arguments that immediately fall flat when you talk to real people.
They both remind me of the aristocrat class of previous eras - vapid, vain, self obsessed, flippant. Putting on outrageous outfits just because they can. Dripping in privilege and boredom so they event drama just to have something to do. Their entire appearance is carefully crafted at all times and they are constantly acting out a grandiose persona when on camera. Just screams narcissism. Cynthia’s bizarre appearance says it all. They might as well be aliens to me.
It's kind of a strategy. They interviewed for movie promotion which is "mainly" female friendship, they need to be seem real besties alike in the movie. In female friendship, it's hard to admit it but they cry A LOT. When sharing secrets, making apologies after the cold war, whenever. They even cried in interview with Idina and Chenoweth. It was not only me catching Idina feeling awkward being in the middle of that weird situation.

Yes, time's up!
People always smelled the bullshit. It's just that celebrities now demand opportunities to shovel the shit onto our screens at a rapid pace. Its on them
The sooner these fools go out of popularity the better.

That, or the actors saw the movie and didn't realize the capital were the bad guys.

Because those outfits didn’t come out of nowhere.
The fact that the film started off with the controversy of ariana being a homewrecker to family with a new born baby and then her writing a song basically saying yeah i did that and what? And for her and cynthia go on about kindness just infuriates me istg
Pretty much.
yeah this is it for me too.
Also I will never forgive Cynthia for what she did to The Great Comet musical; WE COULD’VE HAD MANDY PATINKIN BACK ON STAGE 😭
The film will definitely do great and they probably really did a really good job, good for them!

For them this is an experience they have probably dreamed of for so long (since it took so long to make). And especially because performing is such an emotive art form, I can totally see how they would be as emotional as they are.

Completely agree but I bet a large number of those actors do it because they love the craft and not the fame that could ruin their lives and the lives of the people around them
This!

Side note - there's lots of community theater actors that can be divas too, I'm sure. Nobody's perfect. I'm just saying why do we have to see the same faces over and over, especially when there's other talent out there who would really appreciate the opportunity?
First of all, any hero is never the victim. Second, why are these overpaid, over privalliged actors taking all the credit for the movies?
A hero can be someone who was victimised but chooses to move forward regardless. Like people who have all the claim to play victim but choose not to.

hmm while yes I get your point I do think it was unnecessary to completely minimize her negative experiences as a black queer woman bc though yes it’s somewhat accepted in western culture there is still a lot of discrimination that comes from this

@@LeKongster that is not "fashion" its called ugly clothing.
Oh screw off, you act like feeling emotion is a bad thing. I think you need to see a therapist.

THIIIS!!!
I love everything about this comment.
These people have graduated from annoying to completely insufferable.
I hope your okay
Is this satire?
They're literally doing PROMO for the movie. They have to sell it and convince others to watch it. They're doing their job as they should
Asking a theatre kid not to be dramatic is like asking an art critic not to be pretentious
This is too much.
Actors have always been kinda weird and dramatic, but nowadays they are so weird and dramatic they became unlikeable
They look extremely hungry.
😂
I don't feel sorry for either of them.
@@chvbbi_bvnnifacts
Kind of a weird take. They look concerningly thin, but anyone who can afford to should gorge themselves on food? Binging isn't much better than over restriction @@chvbbi_bvnni
Maybe that's why they keep crying 😂😂😂
Just enjoy the movie my god is not that deep
I hadn't thought abt how conceited & privileged it is to claim their movies are saving lives. Can't unsee it or the fake emotions now. 😳
I saw a recent interview where Ariana said her low-end pop song "Break Free" saved lives. I don't know if she's delusional or her fans need more saving than pop music can offer.
Yeah. Tell that to the people in Western NC after Helene. It really is disgusting.
@@jenniferrhoades8956 are you referring to me?
Well I think many people can tell you that art got them through tough times. It’s really not that conceited lol. You just don’ vibe with this art in particular. This is the problem with right-wing talking points: y’all start trying to make “common sense” arguments that immediately fall flat when you talk to real people.
Art has kept me going for years. How dismissive
Even the short snipets from interviews are boring... I am scared to watch the movie itself
Imagine how those of us who actually read the book feel.
i just dislike that it’s just part 1 and not the whole musical and they barely mention that
That part
@@buffalowig what????? Insane
I did not know the book is that long
personally i enjoyed the movie and i think the actors did a great a job. they’re just trying way too hard to promote it
It's kind of a strategy.

Tbf, Drew Barrymore had a very intense and rough life growing up that affected her immensely. She had no father around her, Add terrible mother who was okay bringing her daughter to grown up parties. At least the wonderful Keanu Reeves helped her out.
Still not acceptable for the way she behaves and conducts herself.
@@twinkletoes6290Agree. The woman has serious mommy issues. She treats all her interviews like therapy, expects all her guests to get emotional and invades their personal space. She's weird and needs therapy.
Bfr its not like she actually hurt someone @@twinkletoes6290
Drew barrymore is fake af. They always play the "rough" upbringing card. It's utter bs. As someone with a very "rougj" upbringing, I didn't become a fake narcissist.
