They have a brief nod to who Boq and Fiyero really are when she puts the red handkerchief under boq's jacket and when Fiyero is standing in the doorway with his arms outstretched.
Very first shot of Boq he’s positioned and “stuck” like the Tin Man. He also has a red handkerchief later in the movie and admits he cries a lot - Tin Man cried in Wiz of Oz Fiyero also first starts walking like the Scarecrow if you watch his legs Nessa wears red stripes socks and also her dress is red and white Also - Did you catch Elphaba’s wicked witch laugh when she scares Glinda??
The desert that Elphaba runs up to the edge of in “The Wizard and I” is the deadly desert. In the Oz books and return to oz movie it is a desert that turns you to sand if you touch it.
So glad I touched up on my Oz lore before seeing the movie because there’s a lot of stuff there from the other novels not mentioned in the original Broadway Produktion or Movie with Judy. Bit silly placing a university so close to a deadly desert 😭
The poster in the attic when they’re hiding from the guards before defying gravity, depicts the wizard in his carnival days stating his name is Oscar Diggs. Oscar Diggs was the name of James Franco’s wizard in Oz the great and powerful.

Fiyero’s costume seems to be a nod to his book counterpart. In the book, he has ochre-colored skin with blue markings. It could be coincidence, but I can also see why they might try and lean into that.
Potential spoiler: Elphaba dances among frogs in the Wizard and I, and I wondered whether green amphibians were a symbol of being a child of both worlds. Maybe far-fetched but that was the first thought that came to mind as I watched the sequence

If you enjoyed the first movie, I seriously recommend going and listening to the second half of the original soundtrack. It won’t ruin the ending for you, but it’s absolutely amazing ❤️
From Ozma of Oz: That is the College of Art and Athletic Perfection," replied Ozma. "I had it built quite recently, and the Woggle-Bug is its president. It keeps him busy, and the young men who attend the college are no worse off than they were before. That is Erivo's introduction to film, however she had already been an accomplished stage actress in NYC and London. She won a Tony for lead performance in the revival of the Color Purple. Cynthia Erivo is already an Academy Award Best Actress Nominee for her role in the movie Harriet.
Oh, thank God for this. I can finally sleep well knowing Madame Morrible's hair wasn't a sadistic hairstylist's ode to _There's Something About Mary._ And thank you so much for pointing out anything I may have missed in the "Dancing Through Life" library sequence. Also I’ve watched the movie wicked twice already in the 2 days it’s been out but I believe that the wizard of oz is actually Elphabas real dad you see in the begging her mother is having an affair that is why she turned out green❤😊
The only confusing thing for me Is Fiyero gets turned in the scarecrow and walks off with elphaba in the stage production But you see the scarecrow walking with Dorothy
Nobody cares about anything Maguire. You might talk about his intimate interest in the bodies of children. Or, maybe how he's a little bit too into animals?

every time i heard it, tears started streaming. God, it was so good.
A little kid running at the start shouts “come out, come out!” Which is the title of Glinda’s song in the original MGM movie.
