Just crazy how much rain we have gotten this year. Never have I seen water backing up into the fields through our drain tile until this year and we have had less rain in northern Macomb county than you've had. Hope we can all salvage our fields. God bless.
My heart goes out to the farmers Thank you for sharing this Most people don't realize how one storm can ruin your income for the year You and the other farmers will be in my prayers 🙏 That tree problem prop it up with a 2x4 when apples come out board will fall down when it's not needed
Sorry to see all the water problems. Regarding your apple trees, my experience is, after the apples pass, cut everything back as much as you want. Next year the tree will be rejuvenated and produce even more apples.
Wow, sorry to see such devastation. Prayers out to those farmers. Kip I would consider trim (hard) those fruit trees way back, in early spring. You probably seen apple orchards , they really bonsai the trees. They will be healthier and grow for long time. Cut that branch off, too big to heal back.
I have a buddy up by you guys and we were driving through your area and I hope with this dry hot windy week upcoming your fields dry up so you can get out and do some harvesting soon
I'm southeast Detroit/Windsor in Ontario I dumped 10-1/4" from my rain gauge I help my uncle farm and my dad farms some. We are just getting fields dry enough to say there's no standing water our storm hit the night of August 24. It was demoralizing that night and the drive around the next morning
I feel for you kip, 2019 we had rain every two days. This year we've only had 5 inches of rain or so. Nothing but dry since beginning of August for some of us here in Southern MN. Our silage changed alot from the first day to 5th day. We chopped 184 acres.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Wow. Tons of water. A lot of those produce fields you showed us will not recover it looks like. Just too much water. If the outlets are over ran with water. Wow. Too bad. Hope the farmer has good insurance coverage. Thanks for the drone footage. Shows how massive the water problems are. Take a while to pull all that water off the fields. Your fields looked fairly good. Some had standing water but not much. In the long run you should be ok. Beautiful apple trees. Overloaded with apples due to moisture in the ground. Wow. Thanks for showing us around. Hope your area dries up soon. Take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Kip. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Bless each and everyone of our farmers. May God turn this devastation into a victory and give you double for your trouble. Thank you for all that you do. From Clifford
Some areas have drought and some have excess rain. You are blessed with apples this year. I hope that you are able to get off your crops once the areas dry out. Take care. Enjoy your wonderful family.
Kip , does the federal government help out in any way to help the local farmers ? Everyone stay safe , the very best to our farmers, they provide the food each year !
Apple tree, the branch will return on its own unless it's broken. If so, cut it off. As for the rest of them, wate until December or January when a good hard freeze is on, then give them a heavy pruning. There are some good videos on RUclips that can show you all the details on where to cut and how. God Bless 🙏 have a great day.
Harvest onions like cranberries practically. Hard to believe the weather and how hit and miss it is. We're certainly not in a drought now but still could use a little rain. Probably come harvest time in September and October we are swimming too. Prayerfully not.... I'll pray for you guys though.
Kip you may know this. Acre feet is how we measure irrigation water we use. 1 acre is an area 43560 square feet. If their was 1foot of water on that acre that would be 325828 gallons that is 1acre foot of water. Wander how many acre feet of water you showed in your video?
So w all the rain and this is a ? Too all farmers watching kip!!:)! Is it my thoughts that it would be good too plow the land next season and give the soil a good breath w all the no till drill these days etx it would seem tht letting it breath would be good plowing the fields as they Need too breath at times;]? No till packs the ground over and over .
Unfortunate situation and we pray for you guys to withstand and persevere. As for your apple trees you can install a galvanized cable system. Use an eye lag bolt on each leader and install a turnbuckle with cable and pull it tight. The cable will last a long time without harming the tree.
Your channel is interesting, thanks. I follow other dairy farms on RUclips, also. It's interesting to compare the large amount of rain you got to what is expected from the hurricane Idalia. It is nearly the same, at least for the highest predicted areas. My parents are inland a bit from Tampa and my brother is in Tampa. They haven't had bad issues yet from any hurricanes. I'm from Ohio and of course I feel some level of connection to other people in the midwest. I went to school with people in Michigan and been there many times, but usually just the south portion.
The sad part of the painted graffiti has a negative effect on the farmers & what they are trying to grow , what is the governor doing about this serious problem , is he or she aware of this graffiti?
Thanks for the updates
A shame we were so dry now too wet. You guys definitely got more than we did. Hang in there Kip. Stay safe

i pray for both farmers and ranchers every night when i hit the hay
If you have lots of apples on your Apple tree. That means you guys have a going to have a cold bad winter coming
We could use that rain down here in Kansas! 23 days over 100 degrees and bone dry.
Prayers for all our farmers. Side note, those apples look great! ❤🙏🏻🇺🇸

Wow! Sorry to see such devastation.
We used stainless steel threaded rod to fix some stand apple trees on the farm.
Great video. Be safe out there
And God Made a Farmer. Thanks

Omg, it's either a drought or a flood.
Lots of apples mean a hard winter ahead.
Lots of apples mean lots of rain.
Sorry to see the devastation for you farmers. Thanks for sharing.
Fortunately didn’t get the rain as bad as what you got in your area over here by Clare
What a mess on the muck ground. What do you figure
Half year of rain in a month or so. Take care Kip.
Low lands suffer from too much rain. Everything suffers from no rain. Best not complain.
Do you guys ever feed veggies to your cows with all that produce around you?
They need to put bridges over each spot that crosses would help I bet
😢😢😢lots water
You need drain Tile, or more
That's a lot of water standing.
The look like McIntosh and granny Smith
Hopefully they can save some of the crops what a shame my thoughts go out to them
I live in Western Iowa. The morning of August 2. I received 6 inches of rain in 4-5 hours. We have been very dry since last year.
Insurance isn’t everything that city folks think it is and hardly covers the loss but doesn’t provide an income for the year
Make your money count and buy from your local farmers!
I know you're suppose to prune apple trees so they don't get like that. All you need is time.
Mackintosh apple? Watch 4 bees nests un them fyi
