Kid or no kid. Equipment or no equipment. This kid has some talent. As suggested in earlier posts, you can learn tabs just about anything, but you have to have some type of extra something to execute like this without sounding mechanical. I also don't see anything wrong with doing covers to get a feel for what your genre may be down the line. We shouldn't be envious of his equipment at his age, we should be rejoicing that he is bringing this music to the next generation. Well done, I say.

Guys, what the hell, stop arguing about his equipment, and start looking at his talent. If you / your parents had a lot of money, would you still play a 300$ guitar? And also, perhaps he is not rich, but his parents have seen his talent, and they saved money to buy his gear.
Agreed , however as I commented on another of his vids. Its important for him to progress, and at his age live performance ,learning his rig is paramount.
He does not want to fall into polished production land too soon.
my guitars are an acoustic and an electric, 100 bucks and 150 respectively. i play on the Peavey Vyper VIP 1 with a peavey raptor electric, which runs at about 130 plus tax at guitar center. My acoustic is an Indiana Scout. My dream guitar is a Gibson Byrdland. AND I LOVE ALL THE SHIT I USE AND WILL NEVER GET RID OF IT, SO EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP. By the way, does anyone know how old this kid is?

Jordan I agree but Jarrod comes a fucking close second and Jacob is quite a lot older than him (at the time both the videos were shot, I think they're both somewhere between 17-19 now)
Jordan Jacob Deraps is quite a bit better than this guy, but Deraps gives seductive looks to the camera and it comes off creepy as hell, and makes me uncomfortable when i'm watching those videos. Most of his viewer are going to be other dudes so I'm not sure why he does it, lol. This guy does do a good job and doesn't give me googly eyes. Therefore, I give him a "like"

Practice 15 minutes a day on one song, and you'll be surprised by how good you'll end up in a short amount of time.

aleaallee If you want, but regardless, just start practicing a song you want to play or get better at. And when I meant practicing 15 minutes a day, don't take it literal. Have fun, get a groove and jam out.
+Mitchell Toulouse While 15 minutes does go a long way, I would recommend more than that. If you want to be good at guitar, devote as much time as possible to it. I have been playing for 7 years now, and I wish I could go back and practice the way I have been over the past 3 months. Instead of the 10 hour a week practices, I have been hitting over 35 hours a week with school in session (and somewhere in the vicinity of 50 hours a week now that schools out), and I can definitely see a huge difference. I just did a pretty good job on Paradise City by GNR live (end solo and all), a song I couldn't dream of playing a year ago. Practice, practice, practice!
Guitar Alex . But that's where you have a band all that fancy stuff. How would you recommend just playing alone? And I don't have an electric yet, only an acoustic. But I want to practice like how you would practice with an electric. Pretty sure it's the same thing, but I have a hard time tapping and all that stuff.

Wow what a coincidence, lots of guitarists can play this song. That doesn't make it unimpressive. Sure you can probably play it, but can you nail it like this kid did?
