The Z Flip 5 is out within a few weeks - only then can a fair comparison be made.
Which actually worries me coz I'm planning on buying this phone. I hate everything about the Samsung ecosystem and UI forcing you into that apple green wall. I'm hoping the "downgrade" is worth it.

@patrikdobo0719 What are you talking about? I've found it to be the most intuitive I've used. I ditched Samsung a lot time ago due to numerous issues, so maybe they've gotten a lot better, but so far I really like the Razr UI overall.

Love the new look for the Razr +! But, as a Flip-4 user, It's a MUST to wait to compare to the Flip-5 before getting too m intrigued by the new Razr. Can't wait for the comparison

I bought the Razr + I'm in love. I even broke up with my iphone I had for 10 years. This is my new life.
Just got a Razr+ last week and it is my new favorite phone. can't emphasize enough how great the fold + front screen combo is. I ended up getting paid 50cents a month to have it through AT&T when coupled with a rebate. I would still be quite happy with it had I had to pay $1000 like originally planned.
Motorola did well, the second screen made me like it.
Using the main screen less means less opening and closing the phone, meaning the crease will be less prominent in the long run.
What about ocd's compulsive habits of opening & closing

I have both phones and on my Moto razr 2023 I don't see the hinge at all on dark or light display on my Flip 4 you could see a shadow on the hinge while using the light dispkay and after 3 months the creese was more visible even in dark mode.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the Flip 4 to the bigger screen of the Moto Razr just yet. I love my Flip 4..gives me nostalgia feels… yes I still wish Samsung did more with the cover screen but this is why I will wait for the Flip 5 to get a better and fair comparison of the cover screens. I loved my Moto Razr back in the day(still have it) and I won’t have a issue going back but I have been using Samsung phones forever since then…I’m hoping the Flip 5 will allow you to do a lot more with it..
But I’m loving this…it’s been a long time since we had a company go head to head…I’m hyped to see what’s to come!
A square cover display will also prevent split screen. I tried it on my Razr 5G and nothing. Seems like a book-style can correct all that. Pixel Fold is the new Surface Duo.
A friend has the Z Flip 4 and even in the case it fits well in your pocket and the little screen is easily usable, definitely want to see how the Razr+ works in a case.
Just curious how well optimized the battery will be to make it a worthwhile purchase. I need all day battery life without the anxiety of looking for a charger during a busy day. Also, how good is the modem for call quality and download speed?
For half the price and more thickness would you consider an eink external display, the current external display on the inside top and a blackberry style keyboard inside below?

the moto's cover screen quite nice but i need the flip 4's durable,camera, water resistance..so ya i wait for flip 5..
I was going to take Razr+ seriously. However, the camera game is not there. If Flip 5 gets out with a better outside display, better battery, and an upgrade on the camera lens. It's game over for Moto. Oh yes, before I forget, SAMSUNG, we need FLIP OPENING AND CLOSING SOUNDS FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE. Thank you!
I got my Z Flip 4 last year (first foldable for me!), and the Razr+ looks amazing! I want to wait a year so I'm not just swapping phones on a whim, but what a huge upgrade in just a year's time on th cover screen
This will be my first flip phone, my only worry is the hinge. I know Samsung and Motorola are two different companies, but in the year you’ve had the Z flip did you have any problems with the hinge?
@Ninnjette- I'm using the first gen Z Flip 5G from 2020, going 3 years soon, I can say as long you don't flip open and close your phone like how tech reviewers do by just swinging/tugging it open or shut, it'll be fine... I've seen many Z Flip 3 and 4 users like to show-off by flexing their phones this way then make noise when their screen 'bleed'... Mine is still able to hold the different angles the hinge was designed to do... The screen has proven to be more reliable than what many were skeptical of; mine has several dead pixels now all over though its due to I've dropped the phone on many occassions and dropped things on the screen while leaving it open on a table, plus removed the screen protector for close to 2 years now as it gets too much scratches and starts peeling off; maintenance wise had to use those wet wipes or cloth specifically made for spectatcles and camera lenses to prevent scratches due to the absense of that screen protector layer to clean the display... There's no water and dust protection for my model, but it's had its fair share of rain exposure and dusty environment, turned out well... Battery life kind of expected since day one though not bad now despite being close to 3 years of use soon...
Waiting for the Z Flip 5 to then decide which model to upgrade to...
@@silcosilva Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to explain how to properly open it. So as long as I’m careful, opening it gently shouldn’t cause a problem. I did hear something about the Razr having a screen protector installed already on it. Of course my iPhones never came with that so I don’t remove that? It’s not like a candy bar phone. I can’t just take that screen protector off and put a new one right? I know I would have to get a TPU screen protector, I wasn’t sure though if it’s actually attached to the glass like if you peel it off, you’re going to mess up the screen. That’s what I’m worried about to dropping it. My iPhone is a fortress, I have a case, screen protector, lens protectors on the camera. I can’t do that with the flip phone. It sounds like you really liked yours though, so now I feel better about the hinge. I am very excited. I hope they ship it soon. I pre-ordered it four days ago.
@Ninnjette- Yup, both Motorola and Samsung will provide this screen protector as standard, for Samsung they provide a one time replacement for this screen protector during the warranty period... It can be taken off once it starts peeling, at least for my case, doesn't affect the screen in any way and its not part of the screen, just a plastic layer on top of the screen...
@@Ninnjette- Should watch JerryRigEverything's durability test on the Razr. You'd be surprised at how well it holds up. Anyway, I'm loving mine.

So, seems like foldable flip phones are too slim and or not long, maybe future foldable flip phones can be a little wider and a little longer, that should be ideal, but they do need make a mini foldable flip phone in the near future, as well! Excellent review as usual! 👏👏👏👌📱🥰⭐️💎
I'm not going to lie... When I first unboxed the phone I was taken by complete suprise with how skinny it was.
Roll forward to a year later and I prefer it this way.
It feels lighter than an iPhone. Scrolling is insanely good, though there are very few apps that aren't adapt to the screen ratio. Samsung also uses the fingerprint sensor as a way to pull down the notification bar and send it back up. And most of all, the slim shape gives it a square look when folded which is aesthetically pleasing
The external screen on the Razr + is a game changer in my opinion.
Wait till the Flip 5 this year.

Love the external screen. I'm a huge fan of compact phones. I still have my Xperia XZ2 Compact. The fact you can basically do anything on such a small screen is awesome, and when I need a bigger screen I can just open it. But so far I use it closed most of the time.
My wish is that Google makes a Pixel Flip, with a nice exterior display like moto, I prefer pixel devices .
What about the Flip 5?
I hate they got rid of the charger in the box. They always did up until now.

Her eyelash extensions bothers me as a MUA. It’s not the proper style, shape nor placement for her eye shape as it drags her eyes at the outer corners making her look dead ass tired, and bored to death.
FYI: An AT&T employee told me the Pixel Fold will be available by July 18. AT&T offers the best deal. $25 x 36 months is $900. Minimum plan needs to be at least $65 (Unlimited Starter Plan).
Sounds like a good deal if you know you're not leaving AT&T for the next 3 years. But if you're planning to resell it, value would be close to nil by the time Pixel Fold 4 comes out in 2026. And we all know the value drops on Pixels fast. Wait like 6 months or wait for great Black Friday deals.
It didn't take even a year for me to see Pixel 6 sell for half of that $600 on OfferUp. And they're practically new. Pixels are kinda worthless to me in the long run. People want Apple or Samsung.
I might just wait for the Pixel Fold 3 or 4. Whichever one gets the TSMC chip first. I don't trust Samsung foundries. Snap888 and 8 Gen 1 were inefficient thanks to Samsung. I'm also not a fan of the Pixel Fold's crease. That screen protector will eventually start to crack/peel/form a bubble and will need a replacement. Tensor G2 seems to have mediocre battery life.

Important to consider is the flip 4 screen fails after a few months of opening and closing, and samsung does not respect the warranty.
Seriously, who's buying the z flip 4 vs the Razr+ with the z flip 5 coming out so soon?
Is this Motorola Razr Plus a better smartphone than the Flip 4, probably yes.
But personally, if I were a Flip customer (I'm more Fold) I'd be waiting for the Flip 5 (actually, I'm sure all the leaks regarding the new, larger external display, ip 58 certification and others were orchestrated by Samsung).
And I'm convinced that the Flip 5 will undoubtedly be a better smartphone than this Motorola Razr Plus.
Ps: on the other hand, the 2nd Motorola Razr really has no chance, since the Flip 4 is currently quite regularly around $700.
Moto already lost in camera to Samsung last gen flip 4 ! Not to compare with the flip 5 . man Moto has so much chance with the razor+ , if they have just put a little more effort in this they would of kill it .

Great video but everybody is looking toward the flip 5 in a few weeks so the flip 4 comparison is of limited value. Can't wait to see how they stack up when the flip 5 does launch. Real competition is good.

7:45 Yes there is a crease, but you can literally only see it if you're deliberately looking for it by tilting the phone at weird angles. You can feel it too, but honestly it feels more like a resting point for your thumb rather than an annoyance

Half the video is praising the cover display by showing how obnoxious and limited it is to use. Why bother with a folding display at all if it takes up so much space? Might as well replace it with a normal smartphone with a practical display and no cameras cannibalizing the area. It can't decide what it wants to be and can't commit. This one part taking half the video also shows how little it has to offer outside of that bigger cover display. The cameras are either poor or the person taking them barely tried and just used the first blurry photo available. Nothing else is remarkable. No new breakthroughs in the glass substrate or durability. Most likely mediocre battery. Honestly should just buy an older z flip since they haven't really been improving on these in the last few years.
Difference is, I can buy one of many factory unlocked Samsung Z Flip phones for cheap... Motorola, not so much. Otherwise, I would have bought one.

They both don't even have a microSD slot. So I'm still waiting for phones to get usable again.

Z flip 5
Well, I just bought a Flip4 and I have no regrets; even though Samsung is about to release a newer version of its foldable, I have to say I can't swallow this urge for a bigger external screen in a foldable. The desire for bigger screens is what killed flip phone to begin with; and even though manufactures are adding "bigger" screens to their flip phones, in this case bigger means ~3" which is SMALL. To me, they are just about to remind costumers why they left flip phone behind, and this makes no sense. At last, a full front screen means half the phone has to lose identity, since all you can do is change cameras position in a black glass surface; that's ugly, and kills the desing. Flip4 might not have the latest hardware, but it remains as one of the most beautiful phones this year. Surprisingly, new Motorola's Razr (basic edt) looks great too -and that's just because it has a small external screen

Guys there is no decision to make. Wait until July and get the Samsung new Flip 5 which will have a full outer screen like the Razr. Don’t but the Samsung Flip 4 but wait on the Flip 5 which is the phone that really compares to the Razr.
No offense, but making this comparison is a waste of your viewer's time since the appropriate and logical one would be RAZR+ and Z Flip 5. OnePlus will be stirring up the pot soon as well.

Don't did it. I have had 2 Z flip 4 both due to the screen breaking after opening. I spoke to a rep at T mobile and it's a know issue th a t has been happening since the first flip series. Do yourself a favor don't buy a flip phone
Sounds like your message is don't buy the Samsung one. Not "don't buy flip phones"
Breakage isn't the norm. I had the flip3 and I have the flip4 now. No screen breakage. Rather the screen protector delamimates at the crease which becomes unsightly. That seems to be more common issue. Having said that, I'm now waiting on my razr+ to arrive. 😄

@@ericf91 it was originally believed that doing so would void the warranty, but I think that's been debunked. But I think the official recommendation is to let Samsung do it. I just left it because I always planned to upgrade anyway. But lots of ppl remove theirs.

Unfortunately Motorola picked a really bad time to launch this. The Z flip 5 will fix the two main issues and will have all the other advantages like better cameras, software support, hardware support and more. The Razr in my country will release on the 10th of July which is only 2-3 weeks from the Flip 5's announcement. They really should've released this last year.
Assuming leaks are correct. Issue with Samsung is they need to fix the hinge. The hinges on Samsung's phones always break after half a year. Every 12 months customers would come in to get a replacement and when they didn't buy insurance you walked them right out the door.
