Fernando Alonso vs Kimi Raikkonen on the Shell EcoMarathon Cars

Ahead of the 2014 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen drove the Louisiana Tech student designed and built concept vehicles of the future at a Shell station near the Circuit of the Americas.
Louisiana Tech student teams presented two of their record setting concept vehicles and brief both drivers before they took to the demonstration track.

We were there just by chance. It was surreal and very strange seeing them drive those little vehicles. Kimi couldn't even fit into the cockpit and they had to remove the canopy on his car. It was so amazing that we were able to get right up next to the drivers. Surreal but awesome event!

SuperItalia494 No, not tall, which is why it surprised me that Kimi could not fit into the cockpit. Amazing chance it happened to us. We were driving back from the track and this station is just outside of Austin near the Airport. We saw that banners and did a U-Turn and were amazed to see the drivers. I couldn't believe it!

I went to this college and helped build one of the earlier models in 2010. This must have been a truly rewarding experience for these students and definitely made a real impact on their lives.
