I feel like the choreography in the videos were over simplified so people who aren’t as good can learn the dance, and like you said, dance with her! She just draws us in and makes us want to join!

I think the reason her music videos look simple is cause sometimes her choreo can look sexualized so since her demographic is young girls, they probably don’t want a lot of the more advanced moves in it. Idk that’s just what I think

I wish Abby let her do more hip-hip dances on dance moms instead of Acro all the time because she’s actually good at hip-hop and I feel like she would’ve won more competitions if she did it and would’ve be recognized more
I think her music videos her choreography was over simplified because they would post videos teaching the choreo and I think they wanted people to be able to do it and post videos type of thing. Her video for “nothing on us” the dancing was more advanced a bit and had all those amazing dancers.
I wish that Abby had given Kenzie more than just acro solos. She could do more than that.

@@sandrarhodes192 I totally agree with you, and you can see from how close Maddie and Kenzie are now and how sweet Maddie is to everyone, that the show portrayed her in a very inaccurate light!

it annoys me when everybody calls this hip hop like its jazz funk
Ya that's a GIANT can of worms to break into, but essentially if it's choreographed, it AIN'T HIP HOP! I wouldn't lump all these dances under the umbrella of 'Jazz Funk' either, but I would say it's Urban. the confusing this for most is that HipHop is not just a style of Dance, but also a MOVEMENT that encompasses all of the art and culture of Urban styles of dance and music. In 2019 however, these dances would all fall under what we call 'Studio Hip Hop' which is widely accepted amongst dancers and professionals today as just an amalgamation of all Urban styles, including, but not limited to, Popping, Locking, Breaking, etc. Heck, you could even dance Hip Hop to Rock Music if you want to, as the movement is about being open to all forms of dance and just doing what feels cool. TO conclude, if I was teaching a 'Jazz Funk Class' I would not use bouncy, low centered, hopping movements as the foundation of my choreography. If I were teaching a 'Hip Hop' class, although a choreographed dance is not signature to the style of Hip Hop exclusively, I would provide the dancers with steps to work on that are very low and grounded and with a bounce to the beat of the music. But overall, I would call this 'Urban Dance', not Jazz Funk. At the end of the day, all of these styles are being fused together now as Dance continues to evolve, so I don't find it necessary to try and fit a dance into a specific genre. I think it's only necessary to understand the background and history of these genres and what makes them unique from eachother if Danced exclusively to that style.

Yvette Kalinda of course! It’s not my area of expertise by any means so I’ve doing a lot of research into where these dance forms originated and how they differentiate from eachother.
