I'm 43, and it's been my experience that many people who have kids simply shouldn't because they have no idea how to be parents and people who would be great parents are single (like me).
No such thing as "perfect parents", but I've certainly met enough parents to know the good from the bad.

    'spanking didn't work'
Well in my family it works. Parent with 7 children, me got beaten with belt and my Lil bro with garden hose. But then all 7 has degree, 2 of them got Masters, 1 Doctor, 1 architect and 1 engineer (me). Things works for western people might not be the same for eastern like us.
That being said, I don't think I'll beat up my children when I have them.

If that was the case, than people would just spank thier kids and they would be billionaires. It doesn't work, they might a show of loving you on the outside, but inside they will always have that lava waiting to explode.

It worked for me as well. I agree as well it all depends on the child as well as the environment that you are raising the child in. I do feel that you should never get your kids out of anger, their punishment should already be well-established way before they commit the mistake.

Several decades ago we read one of the best books written by the late John Bradshaw, on the family. He mentioned that one of the most destructive ways to destroy a child's self-esteem is shaming. Dysfunctional families tend to shame their kids and practice extreme discipline measures: irrational approaches or too much freedom or a lack of structure. Great advice on these issues.

    Hi,
I think parents should fight in front of their kids, but fight smarter.
Meaning, the kids should also see the getting back together of their parents, where every part recognises his/hers mistake, what they've learned and what they will be doing better next time.
Why am I writting this? Because I knew somebody who's parents never fighted in front of them, and when they had their first fight in the couple life, it felt like the end of the world, depressed and took it as a tragedy.
Aletha Solter wrote beautiful parenting books, and I took this idea from her.
As a result, my son is looking for peaceful solutions in a fight with other kids or between other kids and he is also looking to preserve a relationship, and he is only 9 years old.

Parenting is a touchy subject, and probably the toughest job anyone will ever do.
If you have 3 children, you will probably need to parent them each in a different way, to be the most effective. It's like managing a team. And their genetics, along with the environment you provide them are probably the biggest factor in how they turn out. Some kids need to get spanked to improve. Some kids need to get shamed to improve. Some kids just need leadership. Parents need to run a lot of tests, on each child, to see what works best.

  • @SeeingSebastian
    @SeeingSebastian 2 года назад +17

Hmm? I'm curious, are these things scientifically proven, or mostly opinions?
That's a very matter of fact tone she's taking. I can't say I believe there's a perfect way to raise children. For instance I've never popped my child, she's just generally well behaved. I'm now 100% against it either.
I know kids raised with all the love in the world who are devils now anyway. Also, kids that got popped, but wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight as the saying goes.
Do what you feel is best for your particular child. No one can say you're stupid for the choices you make. They're not dealing with them directly.
I'm not saying beat your kids into the Jackson 5 btw 😂🤣

Thank you some one who gets it. People who speak in this way all kids need is love to correct there behavior, I am in my twenties when I was younger I somewhat believed that all children just needed stern talking to but seeing my nephews changed my mind. You can provide kids with a loving home two parents , show them love , take away there phones lol. With my nephews parents it got to a point where they were tired of talking them , showing understanding, taking away things. Some one I know in a two parent household a fourteen year old snuck out at 2 am , sleep with a girl and took photos of it, If they can afford it I think every young boy by the time off twelve should go to boot camp training. I know how I was at times parents showing love and taking things away was laughable for also my peers as well. Growing up I have seen kids grow up in the suburbs in loving home but because they felt like they were too privileged they wanted to fit in with there peers

List could be longer - not encouraging reading & acquiring knowledge in kids, not supporting them to familiarise key skills needed in life like communication & how to act in social settings, not teaching them how to eat right, instead of stuffing them with sugar & justifying that you’ve loved sweets for generations. And much more… Things those kids learn on their own, in 20s, 30s or even much later.

spanking? man I used to be beaten till was a purple smudge of bruises and blood for pretty much anything humilliated when tried to express emotions and had destroyed any sense of value and self worth, and as my mother would say it's like I needed more I'm a total failure in life had never committed a crime but never done anything right and unable to do anything now :/ I believe some people as I are born with no value and some parents see this on their children so as birds who let the weaker die they put their best on the ones that are worth something, my sister was raised with love compassion patience no hard words no physical correction a lot of time resources and dedication to whatever she may wanted to try she turned out to be a respectable professional. I don't blame my mother for the way she raised me I believe was my fault but also I can't ignore the fact she has a serious misandry unattended issue.

    • @PastelAfroMetalhead

Yes in the term "spanking" can lead the parent to be very violent. You didn't get spanked...you gone through abuse. Which spanking does lead to abuse and that's why it should never exist because some parents do not know how to control their anger and communicate with children.

I was disciplined by my parents and teachers as a child, spanking, belting, grounding etc all done moderately and in love. I was made to see why my ill actions had to be punished. It taught me that my choices have consequences. This improved my life dramatically. I was always considered a well-mannered and a disciplined person wherever I went. I was always chosen for leadership roles, because of that instilled disciplined, done the right way. I believe that children are inherently given to some forms of mischief, which need firm correction. It should be the duty of the parents to discover what works on their kids. Spanking worked for me more than grounding, but my younger siblings were rarely ever spanked. Grounding seemed to work better for them with spanking only done on extreme misdemeanors such as pilfering. We all turned out okay.

Something a kid doesn't understand until years later. Many of the attributes defined here I dealt with. A keen observation noted was the fact that the home is actually the first school. Attitudes and perceptions are molded here. Since i believe that I "chose" my parents my workload was substantial from the beginning. But.... I persevered and am happy with the end result. There are also some really good parents who are dealing with mentally disturbed children. I offer no clear cut solution but a greater awareness towards mental/emotional health would be a positive step. Required teaching of it in school could help children identify unhealthy behaviors and offer ways to deal with it.

Fighting(arguing) in front of your kids can be beneficial. When parents argue, this is an opportunity to argue constructively and educate your kids what common issues can arise between two people in the same household, also if the parents resolve issues, that is even more beneficial for the child's education.

I wish the judge mental people would mind their own business and take care of their own kids. Kids are not all the same and they have very different needs. As a parent of a child on the autism spectrum who also has ADHD I can’t tell you how sick I am appearing parenting advice from people who don’t have any idea what I have to deal with.

Let me add to #4 that when you beat your kids you make it really easy for them to be preyed upon by other adults. You break their spirit and their self confidence, thus making them a target and you cause them to view you as an aggressor making it unlikely that they will come to you for comfort and support after a situation with an adult that they're struggling to make sense of.

#1 Quite the proportion of adults don’t listen to other adults either (in the U.S., dunno other places) to such a point that if you do, people are relieved and open up over all sorts of things as though happening upon a diamond.
This be in personal life or in Business, some legit paying someone to listen to you in psychotherapy or to become a better listener via seminars/coaching. (Jordan B. Peterson, Simon Sinek or Chris do from the futur)
One of those things where we know better but refrain from doing it, be it out of neglect, frustration, taking listening for granted or what have you.

    Good Parenting :-
    Listen
Don't use shame as a Tactic
    Less or no physical punishment
Give them time to be social
Never project your anger and frustration towards your kids
    Consistent
    Realistic Expectations
Interfere only when there is no other option
    Respect your children
    Yelling is not a solution
Don't say Yes All the time
    Value your Partner
    Do not compare with others
Never fight or argue infront of children

When spanking is done the Biblical way, it is done the right way. Its purpose is to correct inappropriate action just like how you should yank an extremely uncontrollable dog sometimes to teach discipline. It’s to teach that in life, we’d experience hardships when we did something wrong, we should also learn that there are consequences to wrong doing at a very young age. But spank only when:
    1. You have set rules beforehand that they have naturally foolishly as kids disobeyed.
    2. You have explained to your child and assessed what the consequence is for.
    3. Done at a right time AND at the right body part (fleshy part aka the buttom) with a rod.
    4. Be calm. We do not teach violence but discipline with love.
    5. Spank only in your designated room or anywhere private.
"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will notdepart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Some good and some I would take a different angle. Here is another one! They use exercise as punishment! When you use exercise as punishment the parent is saying exercise is something you do when you do something wrong. Exercise is a celebration not a punishment.

Nice video but the title stupid parents or calling a parent stupid in general is a little excessive parenting way to hard to call someone stupid at it. Clearly if we watching your videos we’re trying to be smarter people ourselves. It’s just a strong term for a job that has no blueprint. Thanks 🙏🏿
