Never heard of this technique before today. I just watched a couple of different videos. So fascinating. Wish I had the space to try it. I love your interpretation of the ocean. Lovely. And the cells are fabulous.
our 6 year old granddaughter loves to paint and is good with inks and resin. She can't wait to try this. Thanks so much. We use to live close to the beach so this is quite impressive.
I've seen titles of tutorial on the pour method, but never watched one -- this is gorgeous -- it absolutely took me way back in time to my 25th birthday, spent in Jamaica, and the beautiful crystal clear water of the Caribbean -- your "cells" remind me of bubbles -- that you did this so quickly -- it's gorgeous and your tutorial was very good -- Cheers, Patricia
I'm a quilter and crocheter who is supposed to be making dinner but got caught up in ... wow! Some beautiful otherworld crafting videos! I had NO idea this existed! I had been looking for marbling rocks with nail polish, after I had been looking for mod podging pictures onto rocks....and got sucked in to all this wonderful paint crafting! Beautiful!
Thank you, thank you, thank you..... when I checked on pinterest fluid acrylic paintings, I felt so overwhelmed by the beauty of the colour mixing together in such magic ways, I just cried... Your beautiful painting, the way you simply play with them and let them tell their own story,... its so beautiful. I will surely give a try! It reminds me of the feeling of freedom I get in painting colourful skies. Thanks once again!

I agree. I went one time to try to find one of her photos of a finished painting and after searching for several minutes I gave up. I run out of time every day for everything I need to do so this just didn't work for me, which was disappointing. I'll still watch her videos but I won't attempt to find the finished paintings, which is a bit of a let down to not be able to see. I personally prefer the artists that show the finished work in the same video in which they showed making it.
i can't get cells no matter what i do . i watch and do, but no luck. not sure if the paint up in canada is different but im frustrated lol. love your videos and thank you caren!
Shes now using a totally premixed paint on new vids try using some coconut oil serum from OGX from shoppers. Gives great smaller pools. I hate holes myself i mean.... yuck! so i prefer the look that gives. Her other videos you WILL see she uses a premixed all in one no recipe required paint. If you wanna make her rich you can buy it. No harm in that. But try using cool TECHNIQUES over additives or premixed stuff. Its more individual that way, i like her stuff but as we see in her latest the cells are all the SAME size & ALWAYS show up after swiping & changing the levels of colours. Which means she CAN'T lose. That's not really a talent if the results are a given. It may be a skill though..marketing; but hey the WORK is its OWN reward. (😉 esp. If youre pulling in thousands$$$)...Abstract always has the chaos beauty factor, as shes says here: HAVE FUN. People may buy her stuff BECAUSE SHE'S ON youtube. Self fulfilling fame.based on more veiwers. Just try a hairdryer on some thinned cool colours. You will be amazed at how MUCH you love your OWN work. keep painting for the JOY it gives you. What good is it to make the same thing ANYWAY art is the opposite of mass produced. Unless you wanna talk Warhol...LOL
The blow torch that you use for soufflé s..I've seen that done to get rid of bubbles, and use it more to create cells!..just saying...and also window/ glass cleaning solutions...it seperates! Practice first and have fun.
Hi Caren. I do some oil painting ,and pour painting is something I like to tray , but I have no idea about what mixing. what I should add to acrylic ,or what is recipes for good pouring? Thanks
Tell me please, can I not add pouring, if I use ordinary acrylic paint for walls? If I add silicone to it, then do I have circles? thank you for your responses!!!
you can use house paint instead of artist acrylic paint. House paint is not as good a quality and doesn't have the range of colors that artist acrylic paint does, but you can sure use it and yes it will create cells using silicone.
Thank you very much for the answer! Tell me please ,I used the paint with silicone, but when it dried the image cracked. Because of what could this happen?
Possibly too thick of a pour. House paint tends to crack, though I know people who use it successfully. Also if it dries too quickly, such as in warm weather, it can crack. Pouring paint has it's perils but keep trying, adjust the thickness of your paint as well as the depth of the pour onto the canvas or board. Tilt and let more paint pour off so your pour is a little more shallow. Hope this makes sense.
You helped me a lot ! Indeed, I did not dissolve the paint and dried it on the window where the sun was. Thank you very much for giving such useful advice! If it is possible, I will ask one more question)))))) Tell me please, I get small bubbles, but I want big ones. What is the difference in technology? How to make big bubbles?
You are an inspiration! I am a crafter that wants to do everything I see. For some reason this pour painting is challenging my head! But I have watched your videos a hundred times so here goes I’m doing it!!!!!!
I came across this by change &boy is it my lucky day!! I'm a scrapbooker but would love to try this technique. It's so pleasing to the eye! TY for taking the time to share!!
I love this video. Finally a tutorial that keeps it to the point! You share all the needed info, stay concise, and demonstrate beautifully. I wish all RUclips tutorials were this good.
Thank you Caren for a very short, simple video to follow. I'm just starting to learn acrylic pour and this was such a simple technique for a beginner to follow and understand. Sometimes longer videos have a lot of dead space and/or too much information for a beginner to follow and try to retain after 30 minutes! I'm always taking notes, but this was great! I appreciate this!
Loved the Warhol quote, Caren! Made me laugh loudly, causing co-workers to turn around in their chairs. Thank you for demonstrating the diagonal swipe across the horizontal bands of color. I finished setting up my "studio" (ha! - a corner in the basement laundry area) and am ready to go. Enjoyed watching you create this lovely piece. Thank you!
Those co-workers don't know what fun they are missing! Glad you like the diagonal, it makes for a great composition. Thanks for mentioning it before. You can pour the color any way you like, it's the swiping direction that creates the composition, unlike other pour techniques which are more random.
Absolutely stunning painting!! I’m an artist in oil medium, landscapes n such. I’ve just started pouring, as another expression of love of nature and what I see in my whirld. I’m following your painting projects for advice and visual examples of your creativity. Ty so much!!
Hello Caren, i tried to use the colours you've mentioned here in this video to make my own pour painting, and it turned out very well, iam trying to survive cancer and searching for something to keep my mind busy brought me to your video tutorials and then this video, its amazing to learn from you, my friend loved my painting and she bought it from me, my first earning in last two years after being diagnosed and under treatment, i just sent it to her through courier and first thing wanted to let you know, all because of your tutorial, thank you so much
Beyond Beautiful! Your tutorial is fantastic my daughter has Autism and struggles to paint as she can’t control her brush due to her fine motor difficulties but she can do a similar version of this with stunning results which Inturn makes her feel good about her self! Thanks for your Amazing videos and very clear and to the point. Hugs from England 🤗💖
LOVE this!!! I am obsessed with the ocean and beach so I have got to try this! Using the spatula really allows you better control where you want to create movement!!! LOVE,LOVE,LOVE!!
Caren, this is absolutely gorgeous. I love the control that you have over the spatula when you are swiping, now if only I can get that, it will change things for the better I'm sure. Thanks for another great inspiration.
The more I watch this the braver I become to try this. Will do exactly that in a few days. Caren, this painting is so beautiful, so inviting. Thank you. Anna K.
It’s amazing to see the transformation, when you did the first spatula swipe, you would think there is nothing going to happen, amazing.Really nice swipe by the way.
Thank you Caren for taking the time to make this video, and your other videos. It can be time consuming to make these, and sharing your knowledge of art is very appreciated.:)
Omg I love all the big words you use so awesome. Great job on the painting. You're one of my favs. I can't normally sit through a whole video but with you I can. Thanks.
I’ve been watching these videos trying to learn how to do this for a week now. I’m so happy I found your channel. I actually learned something and you get straight to the point which I love! Keep up the great work
I have watched a couple of your videos and got the courage to do my first pour. I love this technique. My idea was to do a "ocean" creation. I had no idea where to begin. and today your video is just that. I am excited and a little more confident to pour my ocean. Thank you Caren, I love your tutorials.
I think this is wonderfully done!!! You have a great eye for knowing just what it needs or doesnt need!! Awesome colors, yes it instantly reminds me of the ocean !!!
I love the movement and colors and the effect of the cells.I live in the island so I love recreate in my surroundings those relaxing blues... and this a way to make it .I'll definitely will try this technique and add it to my home decor. Thanks for sharing you way of expression . Wish you the best
I love this! You make it look so easy, though, of course, and all I can see is myself making a big drab looking mess - but no worries! i am going to try it anyway - you give me confidence! Thanks for the video!

Thank you, Patricia! Glad the painting gave you back some good memories!
I loved this. The colors are great and the cells remind me of the bubbles in the ocean.
You seem to have more control and understanding of what is expected with a swipe. Beautiful and so enjoyable to watch.
BEAUTIFUL THANKS SO MUCH 🔵 I'm always so glad to get a notification from you !

I really like that art as it really does shows the ocean and its movements
I love that you aren't wasting so much paint. I cringe when I see tutorials of fluid art and you seen large amounts of paint dripping over. ❤❤❤❤
I love how this turned out. Your videos are my favorite.
Wow! This expressive painting is amazing! You master the technique and you did a great job! Bravo! 👏👏
Thank you so much!
Looks like the ocean to me!!
I am so surprised to learn the different ways of doing art and each and every one looks unique and beautiful. Thank for sharing.
This is amazing! I am blown away. The cells just happen?
I'm going to do this to a DIY table, and surprise someone special. Thank you for your tips! Have a good Tuesday!

I don't have the "technology" between large and small cells. Please try to enjoy what happens because you can't totally control it.
You are an inspiration! I am a crafter that wants to do everything I see. For some reason this pour painting is challenging my head! But I have watched your videos a hundred times so here goes I’m doing it!!!!!!
