- Here is my detailed tutorial on how to create an ocean pour painting using the swipe method!
So if you're a beginner, enjoy the start to finish of the process!
If you're an experienced pourer and just want to know my mix ratios or technique, I'll list time stamps below!
I'll also link to the plastic sheet I use for swiping and my stir sticks!
Edit to paint ratios for the “lighter tan” color! In the video I say .35oz Antique Gold, .15oz of Warm Grey, and .6oz of White for a total of 1oz…that makes 1.1oz. 😆 🤦♀️ It’ll still work since it’s so close to the ratio. But i meant to say .35AG, .15WG, and .5 White. Sorry about that! :)
I hope y'all enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments!
Time Stamps:
0:57 - Taping off canvas and sealing the edges
2:57 - Supplies (Silicone, Pouring Medium, Paints, etc.)
4:22 - Palette selection for getting interesting cells with this method
4:49 - Custom sand colors for subtle cells
5:24 - Mix Ratios for paint and pouring medium (Make sure to check out consistency check!)
6:51 - Prepping the canvas on table (raising & leveling)
7:36 - Adding the silicone (Silicone Experiment Video: • Silicone Experiment Ro... )
8:06 - First round of swipe (Epic fail - Skip to the successful swipe at 13:22)
10:30 - Explanation of consistency checks - VERY IMPORTANT: Key to Success!
12:30 - Visual of correct consistency
13:22 - Successful swipe of ocean colors!
14:45 - Beach and wave swipe method
18:57 - Cleaning up drips
19:16 - Final view and an up close look at the finished painting!

Your instructions and reasoning is very helpful.
Omg. We are kindred souls with those PERFECT painters tape corners!!
lol, those corners…I’m a bit OCD about them. 😜 love crisp corners!!
I’ve never commented on a video before- but this video was PERFECT! You explained everything in detail and showed a mistake and how to learn from it! THANK YOU!!)
Wow!! This means so much to me! Thank you so much!!!! I have been told I’m long winded and kinda go overboard with details, but I knew there had to be people that might appreciate something super thorough. So thank you very much!! And I learn best from mistakes. ;)
Not only is your painting beautiful, but l love the way you explained everything and shared your mistakes with us. Absolutely stunning.
I watched this video while my 9 month old son is taking nap by me (means without audio) but wow its amazing and therapeutic . I save this to watch this again when my son and husband will be up. Cant resist myself to comment and appreciate ❤
Thanks for the tips about masking off.
Beautiful ❤ Amazing, Beautiful really love this one!!!😊
BEAUTIFUL & thankU for the detail
Brilliant work 😊
Thank you so much!! I have searched for a video that walks me through the whole process for so long! I’m great at pour painting at the Sip & Paint places but can never seem to get my paint right at home. I hope you will continue to produce content!!!
Thank you!! 🙏🙏🙏
Gorgeous pattern. The water bubbles look super realistic. Thanks for sharing 😊
I appreciate that you showed us how you mix your paint in the cups. You'd be surprised that for something that is so simple and routine to you just isn't clear to someone like me who's never done it. Most people just rattle off their ratios and I'm not always clear what 50 percent this to 30 percent that to half water to 50 percent glue and the percentages don't add up to a hundred and then I'm all confused. You were very precise with your measurements and there was no confusion or muddled ratios. I think with your specific instructions I can probably do this too. And your sand was gorgeous.
Stunning! Love your great tutorial!Thank you!
It’s beautiful thanks for explaining so nicely ☺️

How timely! I've only just today realised my swipes weren't working because of my consistency! Thank you, this tute was brilliant!
Awesome!! I’m glad it helped!! Once I got the consistency down, swipes are definitely my favorite. 🤗
Great explanations! Thanks 🙏
I’m glad you liked it! Thank you!! 🤗
You are delightful and very talented.

Oo very cool, I never thought of doing that with the mod-podge! Definitely adopting this technique!
Thank you!! Yeah! Gotta love Mod Podge!
Amazing.
Great video🙂 lot of new tips and I love the way you teach, sharing all the tips and things like mod podge around the tape. Thank you, I am going to give the beach pour a try😁
Thank you!! I hope your beach swipe turns out amazing!! They’re kinda of addictive once you start! :)
Thank you for detailed information
Thank you! I hope the details can make it a bit easier to recreate!!
I appreciated this video and I LOVE your instruction, your personality shines through! I am now a subscriber and will be watching more of your vids. Thank you!
Thank you so much!! I just wasted a bunch of small canvas and supplies. I thought my paint was bad. It was the consistency. I appreciate it. Your process and painting is beautiful. I love how you made the sea foam.
Thank you so much!! Yes, consistency is so important! I always get anxious that people will stop at the ratio part of the video and not watch the consistency part, which is key to everything! I’m so glad the video helped!
New Subsciber! Thank you for a very well done teaching video. Beautiful Ocean swipe! Looking forward to following along!
Thank you so much for subscribing and for your kind words!! I’m looking forward to making new content too!! ❤️
Best tutorial ever!
Aww, thank you!!

This was really cool and helpful! I’m pretty new at acrylic pour painting and love making ocean scenes and this is my new favorite way of doing it! Just the foam effect alone is incredible! Thank you for sharing this! 🖼 🎨 🤩 💜
Awesome, thank you!! And welcome to pour painting! It’s really a great art form! And I call my ocean series “Staycation” cuz it’s the closest I’m going to get to the ocean for a long time living in the Midwest. lol.
@@artbystudioten thank you! And aww lol well you’re always welcome to come to SC! Literally surrounded by gorgeous beaches for inspiration! 🏝
Bravo bravo 👏👏👏
Excelente desde Venezuela te felicito
LOVED THE DETAILS IN THE VIDEO ❤,
Thank you!! ☺️
Haven’t done my 1st pour yet!! This video was great info.
Just subscribed to you. Found Sara Taylor first but then found you! I’ve learned so much from the video you made. Now, I feel more confident because you explained every process in detail but then broke it all down so simply to where I’m not so scared to try this. Yay! Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!! I love hearing that my detailed explanation helped someone! I’ve heard so many time that I “get lost in the weeds of details”. 😜 so I decided to put them to good use with this video!
Beautiful!! Thanks for explaining.. First time watching you. Really enjoyed. I also use alot of Masters Touch Paints. Looking forward to seeing more of your creations.
I’m a huge fan of Hobby Lobby’s 50% off sale! lol. I always experiment with masters touch too cuz they’re so cheap when on sale!!
first time watching you. great. thank you so much
Thank you so much!!

Thank you 😊 . Good job. I’ve been contemplating beach 🏖! I’ve been pouring about a year now . And I’m so enjoying . No utube channel for me ONLY SPIRT FILLED POURS 🔥🕊💗🙏
Великолепно 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great idea with the mod podge!
Thank you! I was just getting frustrated with leaky spots. Mod Podge to the rescue!
What a great tutorial! This is just what I was hoping for to help me with this technique and swipes in general. My other two ocean swipes that I attempted did NOT come out like this at all, and while they have their own charm, I'd really like to nail this down a little better. My paint consistencies were too thin I can tell now, and my white might be too thick in comparison, and my swipe plastic sheet was too thick, sturdy and it was uneven as I swiped. Thanks for putting this together, I appreciate what you put into this!
Hey!! I thought I had responded to your super sweet comment a long time ago!
Thank you so much for commenting! ☺️
I was hoping this tutorial would be helpful! I’m currently working on trouble shooting a Dutch pour version. I’m definitely partial to the swipe method for an ocean pour. The Dutch is a lot of variables, like technique of how you angle the blow dryer. So I’m worried about repeatability as a tutorial. But maybe I’ll get it locked down and able to do a tutorial! Anyways, thank you for all your support!!
I wish there was a love button. Yes, I love ❤️ it!
Aww, thank you!! :)
Thanks so much❤
شكرا لمشاركتنا هذه الخبره وهذه التقنية الرائعه ...محتوى جميل ومدهش
Genial. Thank you
Sehr hilfreich. Vor allem, weil Du den Fehler gezeigt hast, danke dafür!
Sehr, sehr schönes Ergebnis. 👍🍀
Thank you!! 😊🤗
Good stuff. I learned much. Don’t forget to remind folks to clean off the small squares when swiping the foam. It’s very difficult to recover when I got beach color mixed into the white. Better yet I need a whole stack of them and only use each once.
Ah! That’s great feedback, thank you! I actually wipe it off each time on a baby wipe. I plan on redoing this video and incorporating this update and also what to do if part of the sand portion gets ruined. Thank you so much for the feedback!!
Beautiful I actually thought how did my swipe get on RUclips we have almost exactly the same type of methods,For a lovely ocean swipe..
Me encantó tu trabajo 😍 te escribo de Uruguay mi nombre es Mirna 😂gracias
I thought your first one was nice! I just love the sand colors. It looks like where I grew up in SoCA
The sand is one of my fav parts too! I live no where near a beach so I love painting these ocean pour to try to get some relaxing beach simulation. :)
