Thank you so much Matt!!!
My pleasure!
I've got a 39 trans for my 29 and I bought pickup truck parts to convert it to open drive line if I ever want to swap out the rear axle to a more modern axle.
Quick change is on the bucket list and early closed drives are hard to find.
I have a 32 gearbox in my coupe with 39 internals-a much better drive than an A ,I also have a quick change rear axle with closed drive .I live in Scotland and have to buy almost everything from USA or Australia for mine! I bought the centre section from New Zealand and built my axle in my garage using RUclips for guidance-it can be done.
80s F150 OD trans? Top loader 4 speed with 4 being OD? I think those are known as the Orion trans. Paid $1200 for 'rebuilt' one to put in my essex behind the 300 6 then found out it needed a few parts.. no parts available and too honest to sell it again so scrapped it.
I really like ODs but T5s have too many gears for this engine and wanted all synchro so did Mustang 3 speed w/3:10 rear which is no problem for the 300 stump puller.
Like you the way you are, Iron Trap Matt also does straight up presentation, gotta admit that recent bunch of mice popping out of that tail housing was a good chuckle. Perhaps mix in occasional visits to other interesting shops/collections. Our favorite club events are snooping through those around here.
That's a shame about those trans. I know the A guys love them.
Your contents genuine man, hang in there. If you end up making it down to buy that subframe I have Im happy to show you anything you want as far as how I shoot and edit my content if youre interested.
Thanks dude! Appreciate all the support!
I love this channel and especially this topic/content. Some additional info will be helpful. Like, does this setup use the V8 pressure plate and clutch? Model A flywheel? Does it need drilled for the V8 PP? Tell us how this thing bolts up and works *on the inside*. Thanks man.
I thought I mentioned it in the video. But it was brief. It uses the stock clutch/flywheel from the A. No v8 clutch needed.
Top instructions for a job thet seems complicated but really is not once you know .Clear and easy to follow . For an idea of master cylinder mount check out my Sacramento Coupe videos . Have a great day.
Thanks 👍I'll check out your vids!
Loving your channel, the content for me is just right, wish id stumbled on it earlier. Happy New Year, and keep up these great vids 👍😍
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy it!
Is Cling's still in business? I bought the trans adapter a few years ago and about a year ago, I wanted to buy their serpentine belt and pulley system.
I was told they weren't offering them anymore and got the impression they were going out of business.
They're winding down operations. Retirement. I'd love to purchase his fixtures to keep it going. Lots of good parts.
Thats on my list to do too
good stuff, do you have the contact for parts handy, will check Snyder's , thanks Matt.
just took a look Clings has a kit for around 700, could not find it at Snyder's yet
looked again Snyder's has all kinds of ways to buy parts for around 800 then they sell the parts as a separate deal, just trying to help out
Hey thanks! Should have been better about linking that stuff for you guys. I'll work on that in the future.
Joe - not wanting to hijack Matt`s channel it is not to difficult to make the bits,I made my conversion (similar job to what Matt described) from scrap bits of steel in the garage using a grinder and a drill-ok I have a lathe but it cost $1000 and worth every cent. Have a look at my method.
Happy new year
You too!!
Great information!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Matt ------ do you want to know what really matters to me ------- It's you -------- giving us the info on where we can go to get the parts needed on whatever topic you be on at the time ------- if there is more than one place to go great ------- and it really helps if it were listed in the content area ------ I like when you are ------ working ------ on something verses just talking about it ----- enjoy the hands on while you talk ------ We all know how you have said several times ----- I want to do better ------ in doing / making your videos ------ You have the ---- DESIRE ---- to do better -------- with that ------ it will come ----- you don't have to worry ---- we know and we are behind you ------- Hope you have a Great New Year ------- Just do what you like to do ----- Rodney
Thanks for watching!
I like how everything is explained in decent details that folk(well me!) can understand-when I was thinking about my modifications I luckily stumbled on Matt`s channel from Iron Trap.
Thoughts on Mercury 2 speed rear?
What is the thickness of that adapter from the flywheel housing side to the trans side? Clings are not currently available. I want to make my own out of steel. Thanks Rick
Check with Bert's model A in Colorado. They're taking over production. Send me an email reminder(matt@seattle-speed-shop.com) and I'll be happy to measure when I am back from the Portland swap meet.
Just Picked up a 39 trans for my model a. I want to put it behind my banger. I was under the impression you could still find a kit. Looks like they went out of buisness and out of stock online. Any idea where I could find something?
Berts model A parts in Denver is taking over production. I don't know how long till that is in full swing!
I’d like less talk and more visual work, like you said.
Agreed and try to get better at showing that stuff. Filming is a lot harder than it looks! Thanks for the feedback!
Get a wife or girl friend to help you film.
Easier said than done! Been trying to train Charlie, but he doesn't have thumbs which makes it hard. Haha. Thanks for watching!
