Very cool! Few different 5e interpretations: Knights loyal to Sergei attacked and killed Strahd. He did indeed die, but was brought back by the dark powers and awakened into his vampire lord and became the dread lord of the realm. It is indeed his prison, as well as all the inhabitants. Not only are they trapped, but their souls are not allowed to leave, simply being recycled into new bodies. This is what’s happening to Strahd’s love interest Tatiana, and he’s constantly looking for her new reincarnation. It was his mother Queen Ravonia that died on the way to Ravenloft, not King Barov. It’s important to also note what part the Vistani play in his conquest. Many have fashioned a homebrew that Sergei is in fact inside the sunsword once reforged and taken to the pond in Krezk.
Strahd has one of Mordenkainen's old spellbooks. It has plane walking spells in it. Must suck to have magic like that right in front of you and know it is useless to you.
I’ve watched a dozen plus of your videos and enjoyed all of them, but this was the first one I clicked out of. The music was too loud for me to follow along with the story.
Their are multiple references to Strahd being the First Vampire canonically in DnD lore including 5e's DMG. Not the first vampire created for use in DnD as a stat block

The sad tale of a man going through a mid-life crisis and then decided that being a creepy vampire would be a great option. Bummer.
Bravo! Excellent Backstory Retelling!
Thank you! Strahd has always been an interesting character to me
Absolutely wonderful narration! I hope you make more videos like this!
Thank you!
Nicely done
Thank you!
I thought StraSD was first
😂nice one 😂
wasnt it his mother that died on the way to the castle not his father?

Fair enough, I definitely had some audio issues earlier on with that balance. Hope it’s been fixed in more recent ones. Thanks for the feedback!
@@The_NaturalOnes Yeah it has been fine otherwise 🙂 You have a great storytelling ability, I don’t even play D&D but I love how you explain the lore!
Why did the thumbnail say he was the first Vampire, when that's not true? The MM always had Vampire stats, long before there was a Strahd.

He is not tragic. He's evil through and through
Dipe
These are such fun stories to listen to 🥹🥰☺️
