I think we need to make a distinction between wigs that are supposed to be wigs in the plot (because the characters are in disguise or whatever) and wigs that they actually want us to think is actual human hair growing out of someone's head. Like, at least the PLL wigs are supposed to be cheap wigs these teens bought in a costume shop. BUT THEY WANTED US TO BELIEVE THAT CLOWN WIG WAS REAL HAIR.
I agree. Alison’s Lady Gaga wig doesn’t even register as that bad to me since we know, in-universe, Alison is a freshman going to a Halloween party. So it’s honestly not a big deal. The Vivian Darkbloom wig is worse due to the fact Alison is meant to seriously be incognito when she wears it.

I will never forget the wig they put Jessica Chastain in for Mama. The only thing in that movie that impacted me emotionally or made me fear for my life and sanity was that horrible shiny crime against humanity, genuinely ruined the whole experience for me. It looks exactly like one of the monstrosities my small town hairdresser gave me as a closeted kid, I was genuinely unsettled just watching her turn up with that mop throughout the film again and again.

I actually really love Scarlett’s wig in Infinity War and the volume and the way it moves is great but I think the Black Widow one was less amazing but she kinda just walked in that wig so that could be the reason that it was either lower quality or if it was the same wig it seemed much more solid.

I am currently watching OTH for the first time(just finished s3) and oh boy I can't wait to see that from these comments 😂 I already thought the s3e1 wig was horrible when they were trying to cover that she cut her hair into a bob between the filming of s2 and 3 but scenes had to be shot that took place moments after the ones in season 2.

ok, but i feel like there are two different categories; when a character is wearing a wig and the audience is supposed to know it.. . vs; when an actor is wearing a wig and the audience is supposed to believe it (am i making sense?).. . like, when a character is wearing a wig/disguise within the text of the storyline i feel like they often don't want to make a wig TOO believable, so the general audience who maybe isn't the most sophisticated can easily follow along with what's happening.. . call it the 'hannah montana' effect, but yea, two completely different categories in my book.
