I once heard a doctor say that having depression and telling someone it's not that bad, is like telling someone to walk on a broken leg. Mental illness should be a priority at every yearly physical.
Good comment Michelle. Knowledge about mental issues like depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder is more common than it use to be. However, trying to explain it to someone who has not experienced it, is like trying to explain the color blue to a blind person. Well meaning people may suggest a healthier diet or exercising more often. While it is true that these things do help, but they do not resolve the illness. Medication, counseling and having a good support system is necessary. Sadly, there is so much misinformation surrounding mental issues, that the public has no idea what it takes to act, speak and think as if nothing is wrong, when nothing could be farther from the truth. I apologize for rambling on, but it is therapeutic to communicate with someone who understands. 😊
💯% FACTS ... but health insurance companies (especially Medicare) in the U.S. don't really give a flying f*** about someone's mental health because of monetary reasons and for that I think there REALLY needs to be new legislation passed to stop the GREED. It really is true what they say about the love of money.
I’ve had my knees replaced and surgery on my foot, with screws inserted, trying to fix flat feet. I’d rather go through all that surgery than have “treatment-resistant” Depression and an Anxiety Disorder!!!
While agree....why is mental health or lack thereof such a huge problem? Why is everyone, especially under the age of 30 suffering from anxiety, stress and unbelievable depression? Shouldn't we look into that? Maybe...the pill popping needs to stop.Major surgeries that are strictly optional...aka not necessary...just desired.Get off the internet, put down the phones, interact with living breathing human beings, take a walk, stop worrying what everyone thinks if....find religion whoever that entails.
She was 76 years old and fought hepatitis c and liver disease since 1990 not to mention depression for most of her difficult life.........may she rest in peace.
Thank you, Scott. The detail I think is the most shocking is that she left a suicide note that was meant to make her daughter feel guilty. Depression can make a monster out of the nicest people. That's the nature of the beast.
Depression or not, no loving Mother should leave a nasty note to make her daughter, or son for that matter, feel guilty. She will bear that pain the note caused for the rest of her life. She doesn’t deserve that, no one does. What Naomi did was selfish. She knew Ashley would find her and she will also be traumatized the rest of her life. Naomi not only took her life, she destroyed any chance at happiness her daughters had. They have my deepest sympathy.
I watched a documentary about a reunion tour, Wy and Naomi had. Naomi admitted to having some selfish behavior, that caused a lot of their problems. I got the impression that Naomi craved the spotlight but she didn’t have the talent, on her own and this caused problems with Wy.

We don't know anything about the things said between her and her kids. There may have been a last fuss that made her finally give up and her words may have been the truth.
A blessing in certain ways, yes; but if ever there was a glaring proof of narcissism, it was the act of leaving that suicide note intended to deliver extra pain beyond the obvious. Too bad.
I met Naomi when I was 15 back in ‘97 during her book tour. I will always remember her as an absolutely kind and stunning lady. She really did have an aura about her. Such a tragic loss and I am so sorry she suffered so badly. Rest in Peace Naomi🙏🏻💗
I worked as a medic for many years. I can tell you more about the families and friends of people that find their loved ones by suicide than the person that died. The people that find their loved ones are so deeply wounded for life.
Ashley was part of the reason she killed herself. Ashley has always blamed everyone else for her short comings. She thought abortion and plastic surgery were her answers to life problems.She is a bitter, it's all about me person. She needs help
About 15 years ago I met a gal that had some mental health issues. She had OCD and was Bi polar. Every day she was a different person. The drugs she was given to keep her steady didn't seem to always work. Her choices she made on a daily basis was very hard to deal with. She would threaten suicide and drink with her medications. After 5 years I had to leave, I began to suffer physically myself from her actions.
I had 2 really good friends that was the same it was hard but I had to do the same it was just bringing me down like I had a mental illness too but I didn't! I feel for you but you just can't let them bring you down too!
Beauty, talent and money. She worked so hard all of her life and so many loved her but I guess she never learned to love herself. It's heartbreaking. I hope Wynonna and Ashley can take care of each other.

That story line is so common with pop/rock stars. Poverty stricken for years trying to get up to the next level. Then suddenly they have a breakout hit and more which rockets them up to fame and money. Then they've got fans mobbing them, record label execs, scammers/managers, issues within the band and so on. It just overwhelms them. Then try to escape mentally from the new chaos in their life with drugs which too often ends badly. Its like they got to the level of fame they wanted, but when got there it was nothing like they hoped it would be. But everyone is different in how they handle fame. Seems like the faster the rise, the faster the fall.
My husbands sister found her 28 yr old daughter hanging in her livingroom. She got her down hoping she might still be alive, but she was already deceased. It was so aweful. Im sure his sister never got that image out of her mind. Its been at least 20 yr ago.😢
My husband’s friend’s ex wife found her son hanging as well. I don’t know how true this is, but I heard he blamed her for things wrong in his life. He had been on drugs and his veins were really bad as well. Anyway she left the house and found him hanging in the basement. It was too late. He had turned a black color in his face. I couldn’t imagine the ptsd someone would have finding a loved one after suicide.
Met her and her daughter when they had just started in the business at Radio and Records conference. They had just put out a number one hit and were starting to explode plus they were the nicest two people you will ever meet. She, Naomi, particularly was wonderful to talk with. I was no one from a small station with an out of date recorder when I was behind a bunch of people waiting to get to interview them and maybe get a couple of cuts announcing our station. Short promo stuff you did back in the day. Anyway, when I had got up to them she asked how long I'd been waiting and I told her so she had me sit down on a chair behind their table. How cool. I'm sure everyone was wondering who the heck I was. Ha. So there I was. I was instantly in love with Naomi. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Perfect skin and smile. It was almost impossible for me to even do the interview so she said to just relax and write down the name of my station and the jocks. She did a bunch of station ID's and intros for the jocks and then we started the interview. I think she could have talked about baking and living in the country or music and it would have been great. Gave me all my tape recorder would take without changing. I'm 68 now and it broke my heart when she left us. But that's ok. She and I are both buddies with God so I'll see her and that smile again if I'm lucky
How the fck is it dignified to be reading out the indicia of historical cosmetic surgery, nailpolish etc??? The woman shouldn’t have to have her entire medical history as depicted on her body canvassed in public in this way.
So sorry for your loss, peace to you & your family. My daughter also committed suicide via handgun in 2018, just one month before her 31st birthday. Even though questions plague my mind, I still can't bring myself to read the coroner's report on her autopsy. Thanksgiving was always her favorite holiday, even as a young child. This will be my 6th Thanksgiving without her...
Naomi came in to the retail store where I worked in the late 80s. She was engaged to her husband Larry Strickland at the time. She was pleasant enough. It was a good time in her life. Sad she couldn't overcome her demons despite all of the treatment she received, and the autopsy reports she was facing additional struggles ( dementia 🥺) God bless her. Oh wow I had no idea she had dementia. She passed around me and my moms birthday, and just recently he had a video about Rita Haworth’s death that was really interesting and she died from that too

I know one of the meds can be prescribed for that but didn't it treat other disorders as well? I take some meds that are given for a variety of things but I am not diagnosed with all of the disorders.

Her death really upset me. I know alot of people who have mental illness, and it's not easy to deal with. The entertainment industry is brutal beyond belief, and this would take a huge toll on someone with this affliction. I pray she is at peace 🙏
I've been a fan since the start. Her suicide made me angry. It felt like a betrayal. Recently found a lot of half truths n lies she wrote in her 1rst book. The title of her last, basically saying she beat depression too. My anger subsided,n I understand more. So I hope this gentleman knows the girls have fought tooth n nail to keep that report sealed up. He mentioned a note & it's tone...if that parts real, u can bet ur ass those girls r coming for him.
You never truly defeat depression!! I fight every day but only survive by Christ s love. I tried medicine n it helps at first, but eventually it's as bad as the depression. I've just recently "detoxed" off my antidepressants n it was pure hell. If you know someone with depression, never give up on being aware of them!!! You can survive n such.

I live with depression and I have watched my sister live with depression. My depression is almost always under control. It has been hard, however it is getting easier aside get older because I take medicine exactly as prescribed and stay in theraphy. My sister doesn't....so it is hard on me. Take care everyone

Being hypothyroid all my life I now understand " why" she did it. They had me on all those kinds of meds some extremely strong I'm surprised I didn't do the same as her! They almost took me out! Finally, I realized ALL the meds were the problem and I started weaning myself off them all. Dr's were pissed and I didn't care because that's when I started getting better. God Bless her soul.
Same. Thyroid disease is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy if I had one. Doctors don't know how to test for it properly (meaning they almost never run a FULL thyroid panel or antibody test which is even more important) much less treat it. (Throw the patient a bottle of synthroid and send them on their way) Usually there is a cocktail of antidepressants thrown in to boot and a LOT of mental health diagnosis umbrella, but the root causes of these issues is never addressed or tested for. Thyroid disease can cause a litany of issues most doctors equate to mental illness because it affects all of your bodily hormones including adrenal hormones, serotonin and dopamine, and vitamin D, B12, Iron & Folate deficiency. (Low D in itself causes serious depression, anxiety and panic attacks) yet many doctors dont even test it. They would rather get a kickback from big pharma and prescribe an antidepressant than run a simple vitamin D panel) it is very complex and includes alot of moving parts. I hate for anyone to have to suffer with it. It is a tragedy that she was on such a cocktail of prescription medications (treat the symptoms not the cause once again)...such a shame.
I’ve had hypothyroidism since I was 27. I’m 50 now. I’ve stopped taking thyroid meds twice. I’ve gone into a coma from it both times. I’m fine as long as I take it. I still have t some of the symptoms from my thyroid being crap but I’m fine mostly.

However, being hypothyroid a lot of my symptoms were hyper for instance I lose weight instead of gain, I suffer severe insomnia won't sleep for days and have severe arrythemias. They finally diagnosed my anemia in 06 Megablastic. I was thrown into Thyroid Storm in 2013 and they refused to listen to me and put me in a Mental/Drug/Alcohol facility. I was 84 lbs, went blind, full blown hallucinations and delusions, hypokalemia, every vitamin and mineral bottomed out, didn't sleep for 21 days except for them knocking me out with 2 shots at a time anywhere they could stick me. They put me there twice. Thyroid Storm has a 90% fatality rate with treatment and I had none. State Psychiatrist I was ordered to see as outpatient told me on my second visit, there was never anything wrong with you except your Thyroid. I said. I know I kept telling them that. He wanted me to sue them all but I got PTSD from the medical staff abuse, I was beaten to the ground three times by staff, I had to focus on my sanity and healing and said God will get them. I removed all their medications from my body and since then only allow my Blood pressure meds, female hormones and Synthroid. And I had to figure out that thyroid and female hormones play off each other no male Dr ever told me that until I brought it to their attention. We have to advocate for ourselves! I want quality of life over quantity if I have to choose.
Same here!! I was driven insane by anti depressants. I couldn’t even function for four months after I had an allergic reaction to one being prescribed off label to me, and I was on it long enough to have a simultaneous withdrawal. I did thankfully figure out the meds were killing me, not to mention my toxic beliefs, so I weaned myself off the drugs, and had finally gotten a decent therapist who taught me life skills and how to master my thoughts(unlike 20+ years of horse pucky other therapists had shoveled at me). Took me 2 years to be 95% functional but I’m doing better than ever in life before. I won’t ever take meds to ignore my feelings and fears. I can’t imagine what Naomi went through. Just the anti depressants alone were enough to drive anyone out of their minds, not to mention her existing issues and trauma. Poor thing.
So sad! I grew up playing the Judd's music over and over! I also know what it's like to lose someone to suicide as my dad did the same in January! We dont have any answers or resolve! I am praying for the Judd family!
She was so many medications with psychological side effects. No wonder she had problems. A few days after her death I was doing a show live on Facebook. I saw that her husband Larry {a FB friend} came into my live. I said hello to him but he didn't answer back. At first I was honored but then felt sorrow. 💜
I really feel like they got it wrong with the meds they use for mental health issues. I had a medical professional once tell me that they actually only work short term, that’s why there’s always a need to increase the dosage and/or add more. I have heard so many stories of people who try to get off of them (safely, supervised by a doctor) and it’s impossible to do so. One case the patient suffered well over a year on a reduced dose and finally had to go back on the full dose because he was so sick. Doctor told him he’d never make serotonin on his own again. There’s something wrong with that picture. Another patient, it took her 3 full years before she felt normal again after stopping those meds. I think we need to investigate that class of medications (and the pharmaceutical companies that create them) and find a better way to treat mental health issues than what they’re doing now, as it’s clearly not working. My heart goes out to anyone who is struggling with their mental health. They deserve better than what the medical industry is doing for them. Truly.
I accidentally forgot my "mood stability" medication when I was on a 21 day vacation. Going cold turkey was horrible! My mental state was bad by the time I got back to the states.

@@lam7402 it is absolutely inhumane torture. And the people that create those meds need to be investigated. The state of medicine today, both physical and mental healthcare, is terrible. At this point we should have all kinds of cures for so many diseases. I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but seriously, if meds actually worked we’d never need to refill them. Cancer is a multi billion dollar industry. They aren’t trying to cure it. They make too much money if they don’t. SSRIs and depression meds are the leading class of prescribed meds in the US today. And they use those drugs for so many off label diseases: migraines, insomnia, pain, hot flashes ffs. I know because they’ve tried to give them to me for all of those illnesses. I had a doctor try to convince me to go on them because I have chronic illness (for a pharmaceutical injury, oh the irony. 🤦♀️), saying, “You have chronic illness, you HAVE to be depressed!” But I’m not. But how many people are now suffering because a doctor pushed those meds onto them for every illness imaginable? And the commercials for those meds, there’s one for every ad break per show damn near. Now we have one in a nasal spray. 😳 Sorry. On my soapbox again. It just infuriates me. 🤬
To (hopefully) help you out Scott, let me put this in layman's terms. As well as bipolar disorder and anxiety, Naomi also had depression that was treatment resistant. Her medical team threw everything but the kitchen sink at it, Some of the meds caused horrible side effects, so she was given other things to try and counteract them. I personally feel that she fought her mental illness until she decided she was tired of being a walking medicine cabinet with no sign of getting better.

Likely her depression was caused by the liver disease releasing toxins into her brain adding to the difficulty treating her depression. Depression is a horrible condition that never seems to resolve.
As a mental health clinician I know that some forms of mental illness cannot be cured, only treated and depending on the person the results can be from great to poor. Her depression was chemical and social and she had a chronic disease. My guess is that at nearly 80 she had had enough. Suicide is devastating to those who are still alive. I am sorry that her last words were perhaps truthful n her eyes, but unkind to her daughter.
I was shocked to hear of the note, I personally feel that her illness was really bad, but to do what she did for her daughter to find. I would be devastating for me and I can only imagine the pain she left behind to her girls.
I didn't know that either... She knew that Ashley was gonna find her like that but she did it anyway...and then leaving Wy a horrible note??.. Wow she was being very selfish doing all of this to her 2 daughters...And she also left them out of her will too...She gave everything to her husband and his family only...what did she have against her 2 daughters to do this to them?? I know all too well about suicides cuz I had a couple in my family including my sister but I still don't understand it for I have bipolar depression severe anxiety and I have had a couple of attempts of suicide.. it's the people that we leave behind that we don't think about while we're doing it... My sister in law has bipolar she has had a rough time through out life 3 of 4 of her children are estranged from her & I think my brother is her 4th or 5 husband . So when everyone says Naomi & her daughter had a rocky relationship their whole life , I know it hard for people with bipolar to stay on their meds & then it’s not possible for others to be in happy relationships with them. She had liver disease for years. Liver disease releases toxins into the blood which enter the brain causing depression. Could be her bipolar came from those toxins or made her bipolar worse.
The military used an air injector for years to administer the battery of vaccinations that every recruit gets upon accession. They used a high-pressure jet of air to carry the vaccine through the skin. That causes a certain amount of blood spatter, which contaminates the injector tip. As the vaccinations proceed, the blood is washed off by subsequent blood spatter and enters the vaccination site. If a recruit that precedes one in the line has hepatitis C, their blood carries the virus. And it is infectious enough that the minuscule amount of contaminated blood that gets washed into the injection site is enough to pass the disease on. The VA pays disability compensation to veterans who suffered an injury or illness related to their military service, such as hepatitis C contracted during the troop's initial vaccinations. They are also on the hook, so to speak, for treatment of those service-connected injuries and illnesses. The VA set out to reduce the number of vets who were suffering from hepatitis C, and found a solution that reduced the number of virus particles in the patient's blood to undetectable levels. I cannot help but wonder if Naomi's hepatitis C could have been treated with the VA's protocol.
I have severe depression. I have no suicidal thoughts even at my darkest. Anyone can commit suicide . You don't know what they are going thru. They did a study and people who were suicidal had a certain part of their brain light up
I met her and Wy in San Antonio, around 1990'ish. She was incredibly sweet. Depression is so cruel. People who have not experienced depression cannot comprehend the agony. It's not something you just SNAP out of.
Yes, people just get tired of the same thoughts over and over. I'm Condoning Suicide but you just get tired of it. Pills don't always work having depression myself, I understand why they end their life's. Robin Williams I was so shocked and still shocked. Funny man getting older Robin didn't like it and ended his life. Women usually don't use a Firearm she wanted it to end ASAP. Mental Health needs to be brought to the front it's horrible to live with.
Just the thought of what this precious lady went through, tears at my heart. Molested when she was three years old, with no one to protect her. Raped and beaten twice I think she almost died. Raised two babies on her own and managed to get through nursing school. She said her mother never told her she loved her, and never hugged her. I can relate to that. She felt like she was never good enough for anyone or anything. I wish she could have seen herself as I saw her -- bright, beautiful, talented, funny, spunky, and a whole lot of other good things. It just ripped me apart the day she died. When I hear all the medicines she was on, I wouldn't be surprised if she was totally unaware of what she was doing. I think one anti depressant at a time should be fine, if that doesn't work try another, don't throw so many together. That was enough to make people think she had dementia even if she didn't She was such a beautiful soul, and I will miss her to the end of my time. I love you Naomi Ellen. 🥰
She did have a relatively rare form of depression- that requires a complicated regime of medications. It just goes to shows, depression is a complicated and disgusting disease that deserves as much attention as any other illness or disease. Just heartbreaking.
How could one person be prescribed so many similar drugs? If she suffered even a fraction of the cumulative side effect list, she was doomed from that alone. Like you, I was on-air at a country fm at some point after they came out and were still huge. She certainly was the looker in that act. What a loss.
It's very sad. It all depends on her diagnosis. Some mental health meds can be used in tandem to others. I realize this sounds like a ton of meds, but if someone who deals with horrible mental health problems that have different treatments. It isn't uncommon to be on more than one or even two.
@@manuellubian5709 Also sometimes they go to different doctors and get meds from all of them - if there's no central register so that they can check what you're already taking, then they prescribe and if there's no way for the pharmacy supplying to know that you've already got other things you shouldn't be taking with this one, then there's not much they can do about it.
Lost my mom 20 years ago to suicide when I was only 13 and i didn't understand why. I was also suicidal before and it's a very powerful negative feeling that you just want to end. I really felt like my existence was a burden to people and the anxiety attacks just wouldn't stop. I couldn't enjoy anything. I didn't want to die I just wanted to stop suffering. It's important to do whatever it takes to get help. RIP to Naomi, and thank you for such a respectful video Scott. I’m sorry about your mum and I’m sorry you have also struggled with your mental health. It’s such a horrible condition to live with as I’ve been there myself. Your right you do not want to die but when your life feels so empty and you can not enjoy anything in your life, life seems pointless and you truly feel you are of no use to anyone or the world and that you are brining everyone else down around you. It feels like everyday is ground hog day, you wake up to yet another grey day with that horrible feeling in the pit of your gut, it’s relentless and unbearable. I hear you and it makes me really sad to hear about others going through this. It’s indescribable and people do not truly understand unless you have been in that place, which makes it a very lonely place to be in. I wish you wellness, peace, and happiness x stay well dear

She had beauty, wealth, and fame. She seemed able to conduct business in a business that is known to be one of the toughest rackets going, so she was smart and tough too. But she still had to take all of those medications, anti-depressants and mood drugs. Bi-Polar runs in families, having that and the pressures of the business must have been difficult. It sounds like she was miserable. She had so many surgeries to hang on to youthful beauty. In show business, well looking "good" is part of the trade. But one cannot defeat Father Time, he is coming to get you no matter what. One might cheat him for a while, but he will get you sooner or later. She could have enjoyed a comfortable retirement, but some people just cannot take "retirement". Very Sad.
Very respectful and informative video. It makes me wonder if the pharmaceuticals affected her thinking. Sometimes being on a combination of pharmaceuticals can impact your moods, thinking. It can cause depression and suicidal thoughts.. I become suicidal and major depression as a side affect to interactions with my pharmaceuticals. She looked beautiful. May Naomi rest in peace.
It never ceases to amaze me that our church will pray for someone having an appendectomy, rush chicken soup to someone who has a cold or help a neighbor pave his driveway. Yet, when I’m able to go to church (agoraphobia), I get chastised for not being there more often. I’m not saying that I need help ALL of the time, but if someone could check in once in a while, that would be nice. Mental illness is overlooked in so many ways. I resonate with your church story as I love my church and travel, going and staying busy but I suffer from ocd, ptsd, anxiety, and agoraphobia too. It has kept me very close to home since 2021. I pick up my groceries and that’s about it. I do and am still trying to heal/cope. But no one checks on me really and the only one fam member that does makes me feel guilty for staying home
Well, first of all, take my advice, leave religion it’s part of your problem. It’s a con job it’s gaslighting you every day. Leave God and religion behind and you will find it. Alleviates a lot of your emotional pain when she realize you are alone in the world and everything is up to you you’ll be better off.
I'm still hurting for the hurt that their family is going through. I especially hurt for Wy and Ashley. And I hurt because naomi was in such pain. 8 hurt for mental illness. It's just a very painful loss, and i sincerely hold them all in my heart.💔
Thats sad that she left a note to her beautiful daughter. U have to live with those last words to her , the rest of her life. What people seek to forget is if someone is suffering, there is nothing anyone can do to stop them from ending their suffering. Our life is the only thing we can control and people will call you selfish if you want to go on your own terms. It’s BS!
One of the interviews Naomi did she talked extensively about how her type of depression was severe and untreatable. She was working with specialist and had been doing medical trials and studies about her type of depression.

People seem to think money and fame can buy happiness, but it can’t. Changing your exterior doesn’t change the interior. The thing that bothers me about this, is that her family knew she was in this frame of mind. Made it a point to have at least one of them there while she did it. Not to stop her or get her help, but to let her go through with it. I guess she didn’t want to be found after a little time passed because of the condition her body would be in postmortem. Vanity followed her to the end. I remember when this first happened and her daughters gave an interview about it, and what they had to say makes me come to this conclusion. You can be surrounded by people and/or things, but your always alone in your own mind. And we never truly know what someone is dealing with internally. I say this with experience.
My husband took his life the same way in 2012. He did this in front of me. I had thoughts of suicide since a young girl. I'd pray every night that God would take me. I took pills a few times. After what happen to my husband and seeing first hand how this affects family. It opened my eyes. I could never put my children or grandchildren though that. I've been diagnosed with early stages of dementia. When it gets alot worse I will have to think about things. My blessings are for the Judd family. It's hard. Very hard.

He mentioned scarring on one arm …….. it’s a release..people with a depression can get so anxious the cut their arms often to get a release. Poor woman. Depression is absolutely horrible. It makes you feeling empty inside. Hallow, like there is nothing left inside. Being retired makes it so much worse. I’m tied down caring for my very elderly mom, and my wonderful family as far from me. I don’t wish this on anyone. I do have a lot of faith, but so often it feels like a vapor that just disappears.
I’m surprised they didn’t bag her hands to confirm gun powder deposit on her right hand. They test for many drugs, including caffeine. I hope she’s doing much better on the other side.

Wow! she had ALOT of medicines with sedatives. Your right and various drugs for Depression. I sometimes think over prescribed psych drugs can create more of a problem. I've known a few people who were just depressed that ended up seriously suicidal because of the combination. I hope she FINALLY can be at peace.
My fathers side of the family had a history of mental illness and in 1989 at 58 years old my father took his own life. I was 31 years old when that happened and since then there has been 2 more suicides in our family!! I have also been diagnosed with chronic depression and bipolar 1 since my father died. I have no doubt my father also had bipolar but up until the 1980s very little was still known about mental health.The medical field has progressed some since 1989 but not nearly enough!!! They need to make it a top priority. It's a medical crisis in this country and since covid19 suicide rates have skyrocketed!!! It's time our medical field recognize it's a huge problem and do something about it!!! Its been ignored way too long!!!!!!
Please I urge you....demand your doctor run a full thyroid panel with the antibodies (not a partial test but the FULL panel) and make sure they run the antibodies. Also run the two vitamin D tests (super important) as well as b12 and folate. Demand it! Get a copy of your labs to see that they've run them too.
Sadly she didn’t have her mental health…and most things that should make a person happy seem meaningless if your mental and or physical health is seriously compromised. Not an excuse but maybe an explanation…I hope more medical research is geared toward the treatment of mental health. RIP NJ!
Mental illness is just terrible for the person who has it. My mother is 81 and has been fighting with depression and anxiety for more than 50 years. She attempted suicide a few times but thankfully someone always showed up right on time! I have 4 sisters and 3 daughters. Out of my sisters 3 also have mental illness 2 refuse treatment other than self medicating 😢 my oldest daughter (32) and my youngest daughter (16) both have bipolar disease along with anxiety and ocd (which is severe with my 16 yr old. It's very hard on loved ones. Thankfully I am able to stay on top of it with my mom and both daughters. It's very stressful but I will keep doing everything I can to help them. My thoughts and prayers for all who have lost a loved one due to this terrible disease RIP 🤗
Leaving a nasty note about Wynona is a terrible thing to do to her own child no matter what their relationship was. Sounds like she was jealous & vindictave, most likely a narcissist.
I think that was a terrible thing to do as well and I hope her daughter can recover from that and it sound like that daughter was the scapegoat. So sad. 😢
She wasn't in a fair state of mind....clearly. Mental Health will make you do things you would never do in a healthy state. I wouldn't call her a narcissist because I didn't know her. She was very ill.

I get that she struggled with mental illness. She spoke of it. However, it upsetting to me, as a mother of six, that she would blow her brains out, knowing her daughter Ashley was in the house & would come running to find her. That’s narcissistic & passive aggressive behavior. She could of went to a hotel or woods, or anywhere else.
The woman had an extensive history of struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts and you’re accusing her of narcissistic and passive aggressive behavior? The woman was suffering from mental illness to the point she chose to put a bullet in her head. With the disorders she suffered from and the numerous medications she was prescribed, you truly believe she was in her right mind? What the hell is wrong with you? I know the latest trend is to label everyone as narcissistic, but this descriptive term being hurled at a deceased woman who was mentally unstable is repugnant.
I was surprised to hear she was taking so many antidepressants. She stated in an interview that she had medicine resistant depression and cannot take anything because they do no good at all. She must have been really desperate to get relief from the pain of depression. So incredibly sad.
Chronic illness is hard to handle. At 76 years old with so many health issues she just couldn't take it anymore. I am surprised that she chose a gun to put an end to herself. RIP.
The one you didn't try to pronounce is a metabolite of Trazadone so it was probably not a separate antidepressant. I can personally attest to the hallucinagenic qualities of Trazadone ... some generics seem to produce more of that metabolite than others. I noticed sometimes with my prescription I would hallucinate ... which was terrifying when you don't know the cause. You reading that description suddenly made the hallucinations I had at one point make actual sense. THANK YOU.
She was on a lot of meds that are used for mood disorders but are used for other conditions also. It's sad that a lot of them can make the very things it's supposed to be helping, worse.
Hearing about all these cosmetic surgeries is just depressing to me…So many people unhappy with the way they age. It’s natural…we all get old (if we are lucky) and then die.
The last drug you read about, one side effect was delusion. That may be why her note said something derogatory about Wynonna. I wish she could have hung on. Our family enjoyed the Judds music so much. Rest in peace, dear one. Much love to you.
One thing I always liked abt the Judds- all 3 of them, was that they lived on the same land; no doubt they had large homes w/ plenty of space between them… but even when they weren’t getting along, they were always close by to help each other & support the kids. I remember seeing she died- but not that it was self inflicted. Very sad to hear Naomi left a grudge filled letter to Winona when she departed… those two has an inordinately complicated and tension filled relationship, but also a loving, caring one too…How upsetting to know the last things you fought abt were the last things that will ever be said again, (in this life, anyways) and it was likely just another one of their typical miscommunications or misunderstandings… however, this time, there was to be no more opportunities to forgive, forget, &/or just move on… w/ understanding; love, & Grace. I had TMSI trans cranial magnetic stimulation for my depression. It helped a little. Got the edge off. It's was 1000 out if pocket with my insurance. It was 5 days a week for 7 weeks for 15 min.

That note that she left...she wasn't in her right mind when she wrote that note. I think that was in her head at the time. PPl suffering from depression and anxiety "live in their own heads", and are often suspicious and or paranoid and distrustful of others even when there's nothing going on.
Manic Depression is very difficult, especially as a person ages and is moving toward dementia. Of course Doctors typically over prescribe meds, especially to those with money.
For some reason the manner in the way you explain and read this is comforting. My son died by suicide in our home and I can tell you it doesn’t matter how much money or love or materials someone has in their life. When they are done fighting their depression they will chose to go home
My brother has been battling hep c stage 4 way b4 this lady has. A disease would put ANYONE into a " depression ". Needing help from others after helping others fir years, needing to move out of his house into a assisted living facility, losing his job because of treatment, I'm sure was an extra add on to his "depression". We all have some level of depression. It's who will be the strongest survivor & strongest to battle demons. His "CHOICE" is to keep going. Myself I've been diagnosed with metastatic renal clear carcinoma stage 4 Cancer. Chemo every 4 weeks for the rest of my life. My " CHOICE ", is, either the meds STOP WORKING or my body gives out. I've got grandchildren to see graduate. So I'll choose to go as long as i can. Talk about " depression " ! We all have a choice !!! Its the consequences that are ignored by many. OK let me help as a medic I see this all the time. Basically she had the gun to her head in the right side about the middle of the skull. The dark patches are from the gun powder it will usually burn the skin at a close contact (which is one of the first things we have to check, because if there is gun powder it could have been self inflicted. But if there in only slight "tanning or blackening" of the wound it often means that she was murdered) at which time we can no longer touch the body and the hands are placed as well as the shoes and feet are placed in plastic bag to preserve anything that might have value to the police. Otherwise it sound like she died in a way she wanted to, sadly

I know you don't cause any harm but this lovely lady had Parkinson's and onset dementia. Unless you've seen this in person, as I have twice, I don't think you understand she knew her time to make a decision on how her body would be until it gives out several years down the road, had to be soon and she did it. She was a nurse, I think, before so she knew what was ahead of her. I would have done the same thing. Most people would but wait too long and that ability to act is gone. Dementia is not a down hill slope. It's a sheer cliff drop off. God bless her and her family. You too for reminding us we lost her and remove any false reports of her chosen way to pass.
I listened to her reading the audio version of her book... Holy Crap! That family took dysfunction to a whole new level, it's amazing that she survived as long as she did. The only two celebrity deaths that really affected me were Robin Williams, then Naomi Judd... WHEN will we ever get rid of the stereotype & stigma around mental health so that people don't feel ashamed to get help? And how about the insurance companies treat 'mental' health the same as 'physical' health because hey, your brain is just as much a part of your body as your heart, lungs, kidneys & everything else... How many more have to come to this point before things finally change for the better?
Doctors must be held accountable for the drugs they prescribe to others . Why does this seem to be the only profession ( besides politicians ) that aren’t held accountable for their actions ? There have been many that became even more depressed when taking antidepressants . The laws must change !
Oh the things I could speak to this subject, my mom suicide as well as others that I know who were basically bummed out prior to getting on meds which ultimately led to their suicide. look into a 2005 study of death by Medicine that leads to the death of basically a million Americans a year.
I once heard a doctor say that having depression and telling someone it's not that bad, is like telling someone to walk on a broken leg. Mental illness should be a priority at every yearly physical.
Good comment Michelle. Knowledge about mental issues like depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder is more common than it use to be. However, trying to explain it to someone who has not experienced it, is like trying to explain the color blue to a blind person. Well meaning people may suggest a healthier diet or exercising more often. While it is true that these things do help, but they do not resolve the illness. Medication, counseling and having a good support system is necessary. Sadly, there is so much misinformation surrounding mental issues, that the public has no idea what it takes to act, speak and think as if nothing is wrong, when nothing could be farther from the truth. I apologize for rambling on, but it is therapeutic to communicate with someone who understands. 😊
💯% FACTS ... but health insurance companies (especially Medicare) in the U.S. don't really give a flying f*** about someone's mental health because of monetary reasons and for that I think there REALLY needs to be new legislation passed to stop the GREED. I’ve had my knees replaced and surgery on my foot, with screws inserted, trying to fix flat feet. I’d rather go through all that surgery than have “treatment-resistant” Depression and an Anxiety Disorder!!!

Depression or not, no loving Mother should leave a nasty note to make her daughter, or son for that matter, feel guilty. She will bear that pain the note caused for the rest of her life. She doesn’t deserve that, no one does. What Naomi did was selfish. She knew Ashley would find her and she will also be traumatized the rest of her life. Naomi not only took her life, she destroyed any chance at happiness her daughters had. They have my deepest sympathy.
I watched a documentary about a reunion tour, Wy and Naomi had. Naomi admitted to having some selfish behavior, that caused a lot of their problems. I got the impression that Naomi craved the spotlight but she didn’t have the talent, on her own and this caused problems with Wy.

We don't know anything about the things said between her and her kids. There may have been a last fuss that made her finally give up and her words may have been the truth.

I worked as a medic for many years. I can tell you more about the families and friends of people that find their loved ones by suicide than the person that died. The people that find their loved ones are so deeply wounded for life.
Ashley was part of the reason she killed herself. Ashley has always blamed everyone else for her short comings. She thought abortion and plastic surgery were her answers to life problems.She is a bitter, it's all about me person. She needs help

About 15 years ago I met a gal that had some mental health issues. She had OCD and was Bi polar. Every day she was a different person. The drugs she was given to keep her steady didn't seem to always work. Her choices she made on a daily basis was very hard to deal with. She would threaten suicide and drink with her medications. After 5 years I had to leave, I began to suffer physically myself from her actions.

That story line is so common with pop/rock stars. Poverty stricken for years trying to get up to the next level. Then suddenly they have a breakout hit and more which rockets them up to fame and money. Then they've got fans mobbing them, record label execs, scammers/managers, issues within the band and so on. It just overwhelms them. Then try to escape mentally from the new chaos in their life with drugs which too often ends badly.
Its like they got to the level of fame they wanted, but when got there it was nothing like they hoped it would be. But everyone is different in how they handle fame. Seems like the faster the rise, the faster the fall.

My husbands sister found her 28 yr old daughter hanging in her livingroom. She got her down hoping she might still be alive, but she was already deceased. It was so aweful. Im sure his sister never got that image out of her mind. Its been at least 20 yr ago.😢
My husband’s friend’s ex wife found her son hanging as well. I don’t know how true this is, but I heard he blamed her for things wrong in his life. He had been on drugs and his veins were really bad as well. Anyway she left the house and found him hanging in the basement. It was too late. He had turned a black color in his face. I couldn’t imagine the ptsd someone would have finding a loved one after suicide.
Met her and her daughter when they had just started in the business at Radio and Records conference. They had just put out a number one hit and were starting to explode plus they were the nicest two people you will ever meet. She, Naomi, particularly was wonderful to talk with. I was no one from a small station with an out of date recorder when I was behind a bunch of people waiting to get to interview them and maybe get a couple of cuts announcing our station. Short promo stuff you did back in the day.
Anyway, when I had got up to them she asked how long I'd been waiting and I told her so she had me sit down on a chair behind their table. How cool. I'm sure everyone was wondering who the heck I was. Ha. So there I was. I was instantly in love with Naomi. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Perfect skin and smile. It was almost impossible for me to even do the interview so she said to just relax and write down the name of my station and the jocks. She did a bunch of station ID's and intros for the jocks and then we started the interview. I think she could have talked about baking and living in the country or music and it would have been great. Gave me all my tape recorder would take without changing.
I'm 68 now and it broke my heart when she left us. But that's ok. She and I are both buddies with God so I'll see her and that smile again if I'm lucky

Naomi came in to the retail store where I worked in the late 80s. She was engaged to her husband Larry Strickland at the time. She was pleasant enough. It was a good time in her life. Sad she couldn't overcome her demons despite all of the treatment she received, and the autopsy reports she was facing additional struggles ( dementia 🥺) God bless her. Oh wow I had no idea she had dementia. She passed around me and my moms birthday, and just recently he had a video about Rita Haworth’s death that was really interesting and she died from that too

Her death really upset me. I know alot of people who have mental illness, and it's not easy to deal with. The entertainment industry is brutal beyond belief, and this would take a huge toll on someone with this affliction. I pray she is at peace 🙏
I've been a fan since the start. Her suicide made me angry. It felt like a betrayal. Recently found a lot of half truths n lies she wrote in her 1rst book. The title of her last, basically saying she beat depression too. My anger subsided,n I understand more. So I hope this gentleman knows the girls have fought tooth n nail to keep that report sealed up. He mentioned a note & it's tone...if that parts real, u can bet ur ass those girls r coming for him.

You never truly defeat depression!! I fight every day but only survive by Christ s love. I tried medicine n it helps at first, but eventually it's as bad as the depression. I've just recently "detoxed" off my antidepressants n it was pure hell. If you know someone with depression, never give up on being aware of them!!! You can survive n such.

I live with depression and I have watched my sister live with depression. My depression is almost always under control. It has been hard, however it is getting easier aside get older because I take medicine exactly as prescribed and stay in theraphy. My sister doesn't....so it is hard on me. Take care everyone

Being hypothyroid all my life I now understand " why" she did it. They had me on all those kinds of meds some extremely strong I'm surprised I didn't do the same as her! They almost took me out! Same. Thyroid disease is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy if I had one. Doctors don't know how to test for it properly (meaning they almost never run a FULL thyroid panel or antibody test which is even more important) much less treat it. (Throw the patient a bottle of synthroid and send them on their way) Usually there is a cocktail of antidepressants thrown in to boot and a LOT of mental health diagnosis umbrella, but the root causes of these issues is never addressed or tested for. Thyroid disease can cause a litany of issues most doctors equate to mental illness because it affects all of your bodily hormones including adrenal hormones, serotonin and dopamine, and vitamin D, B12, Iron & Folate deficiency. (Low D in itself causes serious depression, anxiety and panic attacks) yet many doctors dont even test it. They would rather get a kickback from big pharma and prescribe an antidepressant than run a simple vitamin D panel) it is very complex and includes alot of moving parts. I hate for anyone to have to suffer with it. It is a tragedy that she was on such a cocktail of prescription medications (treat the symptoms not the cause once again)...such a shame.
I’ve had hypothyroidism since I was 27. I’m 50 now. I’ve stopped taking thyroid meds twice. I’ve gone into a coma from it both times. I’m fine as long as I take it. I still have t some of the symptoms from my thyroid being crap but I’m fine mostly.

However, being hypothyroid a lot of my symptoms were hyper for instance I lose weight instead of gain, I suffer severe insomnia won't sleep for days and have severe arrythemias. They finally diagnosed my anemia in 06 Megablastic. I was thrown into Thyroid Storm in 2013 and they refused to listen to me and put me in a Mental/Drug/Alcohol facility. I was 84 lbs, went blind, full blown hallucinations and delusions, hypokalemia, every vitamin and mineral bottomed out, didn't sleep for 21 days except for them knocking me out with 2 shots at a time anywhere they could stick me. They put me there twice. Thyroid Storm has a 90% fatality rate with treatment and I had none. State Psychiatrist I was ordered to see as outpatient told me on my second visit, there was never anything wrong with you except your Thyroid. I said. I know I kept telling them that. He wanted me to sue them all but I got PTSD from the medical staff abuse, I was beaten to the ground three times by staff, I had to focus on my sanity and healing and said God will get them. I removed all their medications from my body and since then only allow my Blood pressure meds, female hormones and Synthroid. And I had to figure out that thyroid and female hormones play off each other no male Dr ever told me that until I brought it to their attention. We have to advocate for ourselves! I want quality of life over quantity if I have to choose.
Same here!! I was driven insane by anti depressants. I couldn’t even function for four months after I had an allergic reaction to one being prescribed off label to me, and I was on it long enough to have a simultaneous withdrawal.
I did thankfully figure out the meds were killing me, not to mention my toxic beliefs, so I weaned myself off the drugs, and had finally gotten a decent therapist who taught me life skills and how to master my thoughts(unlike 20+ years of horse pucky other therapists had shoveled at me).
Took me 2 years to be 95% functional but I’m doing better than ever in life before. I won’t ever take meds to ignore my feelings and fears.
I can’t imagine what Naomi went through. Just the anti depressants alone were enough to drive anyone out of their minds, not to mention her existing issues and trauma. Poor thing.
So sad! I grew up playing the Judd's music over and over! I also know what it's like to lose someone to suicide as my dad did the same in January! We dont have any answers or resolve! I am praying for the Judd family!

A few days after her death I was doing a show live on Facebook. I saw that her husband Larry {a FB friend} came into my live. I said hello to him but he didn't answer back. At first I was honored but then felt sorrow. 💜
I really feel like they got it wrong with the meds they use for mental health issues. I had a medical professional once tell me that they actually only work short term, that’s why there’s always a need to increase the dosage and/or add more. I have heard so many stories of people who try to get off of them (safely, supervised by a doctor) and it’s impossible to do so. One case the patient suffered well over a year on a reduced dose and finally had to go back on the full dose because he was so sick. Doctor told him he’d never make serotonin on his own again. There’s something wrong with that picture. Another patient, it took her 3 full years before she felt normal again after stopping those meds. I think we need to investigate that class of medications (and the pharmaceutical companies that create them) and find a better way to treat mental health issues than what they’re doing now, as it’s clearly not working. My heart goes out to anyone who is struggling with their mental health. They deserve better than what the medical industry is doing for them. Truly.
I accidentally forgot my "mood stability" medication when I was on a 21 day vacation. Going cold turkey was horrible! My mental state was bad by the time I got back to the states.

At this point we should have all kinds of cures for so many diseases. I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but seriously, if meds actually worked we’d never need to refill them. Cancer is a multi billion dollar industry. They aren’t trying to cure it. They make too much money if they don’t. SSRIs and depression meds are the leading class of prescribed meds in the US today. And they use those drugs for so many off label diseases: migraines, insomnia, pain, hot flashes ffs. I know because they’ve tried to give them to me for all of those illnesses. I had a doctor try to convince me to go on them because I have chronic illness (for a pharmaceutical injury, oh the irony. 🤦♀️), saying, “You have chronic illness, you HAVE to be depressed!” But I’m not. But how many people are now suffering because a doctor pushed those meds onto them for every illness imaginable? And the commercials for those meds, there’s one for every ad break per show damn near. Now we have one in a nasal spray. 😳

To (hopefully) help you out Scott, let me put this in layman's terms. As well as bipolar disorder and anxiety, Naomi also had depression that was treatment resistant. Her medical team threw everything but the kitchen sink at it, Some of the meds caused horrible side effects, so she was given other things to try and counteract them. I personally feel that she fought her mental illness until she decided she was tired of being a walking medicine cabinet with no sign of getting better.

Likely her depression was caused by the liver disease releasing toxins into her brain adding to the difficulty treating her depression. Depression is a horrible condition that never seems to resolve.
As a mental health clinician I know that some forms of mental illness cannot be cured, only treated and depending on the person the results can be from great to poor. Her depression was chemical and social and she had a chronic disease. My guess is that at nearly 80 she had had enough. Suicide is devastating to those who are still alive. I am sorry that her last words were perhaps truthful n her eyes, but unkind to her daughter.

I was shocked to hear of the note, I personally feel that her illness was really bad, but to do what she did for her daughter to find. I would be devastating for me and I can only imagine the pain she left behind to her girls.

Wow she was being very selfish doing all of this to her 2 daughters...And she also left them out of her will too...She gave everything to her husband and his family only...what did she have against her 2 daughters to do this to them?? My sister in law has bipolar she has had a rough time through out life 3 of 4 of her children are estranged from her & I think my brother is her 4th or 5 husband . So when everyone says Naomi & her daughter had a rocky relationship their whole life , I know it hard for people with bipolar to stay on their meds & then it’s not possible for others to be in happy relationships with them. She had liver disease for years. Liver disease releases toxins into the blood which enter the brain causing depression. Could be her bipolar came from those toxins or made her bipolar worse.

Just the thought of what this precious lady went through, tears at my heart. Molested when she was three years old, with no one to protect her. Raped and beaten twice I think she almost died. Raised two babies on her own and managed to get through nursing school. She said her mother never told her she loved her, and never hugged her. I can relate to that. She felt like she was never good enough for anyone or anything. I wish she could have seen herself as I saw her -- bright, beautiful, talented, funny, spunky, and a whole lot of other good things. It just ripped me apart the day she died. When I hear all the medicines she was on, I wouldn't be surprised if she was totally unaware of what she was doing. I think one anti depressant at a time should be fine, if that doesn't work try another, don't throw so many together. That was enough to make people think she had dementia even if she didn't She was such a beautiful soul, and I will miss her to the end of my time. I love you Naomi Ellen. 🥰

She did have a relatively rare form of depression- that requires a complicated regime of medications. It just goes to shows, depression is a complicated and disgusting disease that deserves as much attention as any other illness or disease. Just heartbreaking.
How could one person be prescribed so many similar drugs? If she suffered even a fraction of the cumulative side effect list, she was doomed from that alone.
Like you, I was on-air at a country fm at some point after they came out and were still huge. She certainly was the looker in that act. What a loss.

It's very sad. It all depends on her diagnosis. Some mental health meds can be used in tandem to others. I realize this sounds like a ton of meds, but if someone who deals with horrible mental health problems that have different treatments. It isn't uncommon to be on more than one or even two.

@@manuellubian5709 Also sometimes they go to different doctors and get meds from all of them - if there's no central register so that they can check what you're already taking, then they prescribe and if there's no way for the pharmacy supplying to know that you've already got other things you shouldn't be taking with this one, then there's not much they can do about it.
Lost my mom 20 years ago to suicide when I was only 13 and i didn't understand why. I was also suicidal before and it's a very powerful negative feeling that you just want to end. I really felt like my existence was a burden to people and the anxiety attacks just wouldn't stop. I couldn't enjoy anything. I didn't want to die I just wanted to stop suffering. I’m sorry about your mum and I’m sorry you have also struggled with your mental health. It’s such a horrible condition to live with as I’ve been there myself. Your right you do not want to die but when your life feels so empty and you can not enjoy anything in your life, life seems pointless and you truly feel you are of no use to anyone or the world and that you are brining everyone else down around you. It feels like everyday is ground hog day, you wake up to yet another grey day with that horrible feeling in the pit of your gut, it’s relentless and unbearable. I hear you and it makes me really sad to hear about others going through this. She had beauty, wealth, and fame. She seemed able to conduct business in a business that is known to be one of the toughest rackets going, so she was smart and tough too. But she still had to take all of those medications, anti-depressants and mood drugs. Bi-Polar runs in families, having that and the pressures of the business must have been difficult. It sounds like she was miserable. She had so many surgeries to hang on to youthful beauty. In show business, well looking "good" is part of the trade. But one cannot defeat Father Time, he is coming to get you no matter what. One might cheat him for a while, but he will get you sooner or later. She could have enjoyed a comfortable retirement, but some people just cannot take "retirement". Very Sad.

It can cause depression and suicidal thoughts.. I become suicidal and major depression as a side affect to interactions with my pharmaceuticals. She looked beautiful. May Naomi rest in peace.
It never ceases to amaze me that our church will pray for someone having an appendectomy, rush chicken soup to someone who has a cold or help a neighbor pave his driveway. Yet, when I’m able to go to church (agoraphobia), I get chastised for not being there more often. I’m not saying that I need help ALL of the time, but if someone could check in once in a while, that would be nice.

I resonate with your church story as I love my church and travel, going and staying busy but I suffer from ocd, ptsd, anxiety, and agoraphobia too. It has kept me very close to home since 2021. I pick up my groceries and that’s about it. I do and am still trying to heal/cope. But no one checks on me really and the only one fam member that does makes me feel guilty for staying home
Well, first of all, take my advice, leave religion it’s part of your problem. It’s a con job it’s gaslighting you every day. Leave God and religion behind and you will find it. Alleviates a lot of your emotional pain when she realize you are alone in the world and everything is up to you you’ll be better off.

One of the interviews Naomi did she talked extensively about how her type of depression was severe and untreatable. She was working with specialist and had been doing medical trials and studies about her type of depression.
It was so sad when she committed suicide. Rest In Peace.

People seem to think money and fame can buy happiness, but it can’t. Changing your exterior doesn’t change the interior. The thing that bothers me about this, is that her family knew she was in this frame of mind. Made it a point to have at least one of them there while she did it. Not to stop her or get her help, but to let her go through with it. I guess she didn’t want to be found after a little time passed because of the condition her body would be in postmortem. Vanity followed her to the end. I remember when this first happened and her daughters gave an interview about it, and what they had to say makes me come to this conclusion. You can be surrounded by people and/or things, but your always alone in your own mind. And we never truly know what someone is dealing with internally. I say this with experience.
My husband took his life the same way in 2012. He did this in front of me. I had thoughts of suicide since a young girl. I'd pray every night that God would take me. I took pills a few times. After what happen to my husband and seeing first hand how this affects family. It opened my eyes. I could never put my children or grandchildren though that. I've been diagnosed with early stages of dementia. When it gets alot worse I will have to think about things. My blessings are for the Judd family. It's hard. Very hard.

Depression is absolutely horrible. It makes you feeling empty inside. Hallow, like there is nothing left inside. Being retired makes it so much worse. I’m tied down caring for my very elderly mom, and my wonderful family as far from me. I don’t wish this on anyone. I do have a lot of faith, but so often it feels like a vapor that just disappears.
I’m surprised they didn’t bag her hands to confirm gun powder deposit on her right hand. They test for many drugs, including caffeine. I hope she’s doing much better on the other side.

Wow! she had ALOT of medicines with sedatives. Your right and various drugs for Depression. I sometimes think over prescribed psych drugs can create more of a problem. I've known a few people who were just depressed that ended up seriously suicidal because of the combination. I hope she FINALLY can be at peace.
Agree, I was on a medication for depression and I got worse. I got off of it and feel better, it was a scary experience.
My fathers side of the family had a history of mental illness and in 1989 at 58 years old my father took his own life. I was 31 years old when that happened and since then there has been 2 more suicides in our family!! I have also been diagnosed with chronic depression and bipolar 1 since my father died. I have no doubt my father also had bipolar but up until the 1980s very little was still known about mental health.The medical field has progressed some since 1989 but not nearly enough!!! They need to make it a top priority. It's a medical crisis in this country and since covid19 suicide rates have skyrocketed!!! It's time our medical field recognize it's a huge problem and do something about it!!! Its been ignored way too long!!!!!!
Please I urge you....demand your doctor run a full thyroid panel with the antibodies (not a partial test but the FULL panel) and make sure they run the antibodies. Also run the two vitamin D tests (super important) as well as b12 and folate. Demand it! Get a copy of your labs to see that they've run them too.

Mental illness is just terrible for the person who has it. My mother is 81 and has been fighting with depression and anxiety for more than 50 years. She attempted suicide a few times but thankfully someone always showed up right on time! I have 4 sisters and 3 daughters. Out of my sisters 3 also have mental illness 2 refuse treatment other than self medicating 😢 my oldest daughter (32) and my youngest daughter (16) both have bipolar disease along with anxiety and ocd (which is severe with my 16 yr old. It's very hard on loved ones. Thankfully I am able to stay on top of it with my mom and both daughters. It's very stressful but I will keep doing everything I can to help them. My thoughts and prayers for all who have lost a loved one due to this terrible disease RIP 🤗

She wasn't in a fair state of mind....clearly. Mental Health will make you do things you would never do in a healthy state. I wouldn't call her a narcissist because I didn't know her. She was very ill.

My grandfather committed suicide in 2011. He was terminally ill with cancer but we didn’t know until he had passed away. One of the hardest things our family has ever been through. Thank you for being so sensitive about this topic.

I get that she struggled with mental illness. She spoke of it. However, it upsetting to me, as a mother of six, that she would blow her brains out, knowing her daughter Ashley was in the house & would come running to find her. That’s narcissistic & passive aggressive behavior. She could of went to a hotel or woods, or anywhere else.

The woman had an extensive history of struggling with depression, anxiety, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts and you’re accusing her of narcissistic and passive aggressive behavior? The woman was suffering from mental illness to the point she chose to put a bullet in her head. With the disorders she suffered from and the numerous medications she was prescribed, you truly believe she was in her right mind? What the hell is wrong with you?
I know the latest trend is to label everyone as narcissistic, but this descriptive term being hurled at a deceased woman who was mentally unstable is repugnant.

My dad's band opened for The Judd's decades ago. Dad described Naomi as being very kind and sweet, but said Wynonna was rude and snobby.
I was surprised to hear she was taking so many antidepressants. She stated in an interview that she had medicine resistant depression and cannot take anything because they do no good at all. She must have been really desperate to get relief from the pain of depression. So incredibly sad.
I knew her from when I lived in Nashville. She had a long history of mental illness.

Yes. Getting treatment for my thyroid improved my depression. Not 100% so I still take an antidepressant.
Chronic illness is hard to handle. At 76 years old with so many health issues she just couldn't take it anymore. I am surprised that she chose a gun to put an end to herself. RIP.
I understand it. She did not want to be brought back & made sure it wouldn't happen.

The one you didn't try to pronounce is a metabolite of Trazadone so it was probably not a separate antidepressant. I can personally attest to the hallucinagenic qualities of Trazadone ... some generics seem to produce more of that metabolite than others. I noticed sometimes with my prescription I would hallucinate ... which was terrifying when you don't know the cause. You reading that description suddenly made the hallucinations I had at one point make actual sense. THANK YOU.
She was on a lot of meds that are used for mood disorders but are used for other conditions also. It's sad that a lot of them can make the very things it's supposed to be helping, worse.

Hearing about all these cosmetic surgeries is just depressing to me…So many people unhappy with the way they age. It’s natural…we all get old (if we are lucky) and then die.
The last drug you read about, one side effect was delusion. That may be why her note said something derogatory about Wynonna. I wish she could have hung on. Our family enjoyed the Judds music so much. Rest in peace, dear one. Much love to you.
One thing I always liked abt the Judds- all 3 of them, was that they lived on the same land; no doubt they had large homes w/ plenty of space between them… but even when they weren’t getting along, they were always close by to help each other & support the kids.
I remember seeing she died- but not that it was self inflicted. Very sad to hear Naomi left a grudge filled letter to Winona when she departed… those two has an inordinately complicated and tension filled relationship, but also a loving, caring one too…How upsetting to know the last things you fought abt were the last things that will ever be said again, (in this life, anyways) and it was likely just another one of their typical miscommunications or misunderstandings… however, this time, there was to be no more opportunities to forgive, forget, &/or just move on… w/ understanding; love, & Grace. Hope they’re holding up well. 3 VERY talented, VERY beautiful, classy & independent women❤️

I had TMSI trans cranial magnetic stimulation for my depression. It helped a little. Got the edge off. It's was 1000 out if pocket with my insurance. It was 5 days a week for 7 weeks for 15 min.

@@WickedWest512 So true. Venlafaxine especially can really help some and can be the worst thing ever for others. I'm on them and touch wood they do help me but I know others who felt worse with them.

That note that she left...she wasn't in her right mind when she wrote that note. I think that was in her head at the time. PPl suffering from depression and anxiety "live in their own heads", and are often suspicious and or paranoid and distrustful of others even when there's nothing going on.
I just hope Wy has gotten help for that note...it was devastating...and leaves a lasting pain.

Manic Depression is very difficult, especially as a person ages and is moving toward dementia. Of course Doctors typically over prescribe meds, especially to those with money.

For some reason the manner in the way you explain and read this is comforting. My son died by suicide in our home and I can tell you it doesn’t matter how much money or love or materials someone has in their life. When they are done fighting their depression they will chose to go home

My brother has been battling hep c stage 4 way b4 this lady has. A disease would put ANYONE into a " depression ". Needing help from others after helping others fir years, needing to move out of his house into a assisted living facility, losing his job because of treatment, I'm sure was an extra add on to his "depression". We all have some level of depression. It's who will be the strongest survivor & strongest to battle demons. His "CHOICE" is to keep going. Myself I've been diagnosed with metastatic renal clear carcinoma stage 4 Cancer. Chemo every 4 weeks for the rest of my life. My " CHOICE ", is, either the meds STOP WORKING or my body gives out. I've got grandchildren to see graduate. So I'll choose to go as long as i can. Talk about " depression " ! We all have a choice !!! Its the consequences that are ignored by many. BLESSINGS to all & your families 👍🙏🏼🎯

OK let me help as a medic I see this all the time. Basically she had the gun to her head in the right side about the middle of the skull. The dark patches are from the gun powder it will usually burn the skin at a close contact (which is one of the first things we have to check, because if there is gun powder it could have been self inflicted. But if there in only slight "tanning or blackening" of the wound it often means that she was murdered) at which time we can no longer touch the body and the hands are placed as well as the shoes and feet are placed in plastic bag to preserve anything that might have value to the police. Otherwise it sound like she died in a way she wanted to, sadly

I know you don't cause any harm but this lovely lady had Parkinson's and onset dementia. Unless you've seen this in person, as I have twice, I don't think you understand she knew her time to make a decision on how her body would be until it gives out several years down the road, had to be soon and she did it.
She was a nurse, I think, before so she knew what was ahead of her. I would have done the same thing. Most people would but wait too long and that ability to act is gone. Dementia is not a down hill slope. It's a sheer cliff drop off.

I listened to her reading the audio version of her book... Holy Crap! That family took dysfunction to a whole new level, it's amazing that she survived as long as she did. The only two celebrity deaths that really affected me were Robin Williams, then Naomi Judd... WHEN will we ever get rid of the stereotype & stigma around mental health so that people don't feel ashamed to get help? And how about the insurance companies treat 'mental' health the same as 'physical' health because hey, your brain is just as much a part of your body as your heart, lungs, kidneys & everything else... How many more have to come to this point before things finally change for the better?
Doctors must be held accountable for the drugs they prescribe to others . Why does this seem to be the only profession ( besides politicians ) that aren’t held accountable for their actions ? There have been many that became even more depressed when taking antidepressants . The laws must change !

Oh the things I could speak to this subject, my mom suicide as well as others that I know who were basically bummed out prior to getting on meds which ultimately led to their suicide. look into a 2005 study of death by Medicine that leads to the death of basically a million Americans a year.
