- Geier was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, the fifth of seven children of "Big Oz" and Peg Geier. He says that he "grew up in a houseful of giants", with his two brothers and four sisters all growing to at least 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) in height. Geier is 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) tall. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia. Living in, and based in Atlanta since 1995, Geier is married to his business partner Shannon Newton.
In the early 1990s, Geier led a touring "Swing Noir" band, The Useless Playboys, before settling in Atlanta in 1995.
As Puddles Pity Party, Geier wears a distinctive whiteface clown costume. He has a baritone singing voice, and sings mostly covers of songs. Puddles has a depressed persona and refrains from speaking on stage or giving interviews. Puddles Pity Party performed in Aqua Teen Hunger Force's 2010 tour.
In 2011, Geier appeared regularly at the Manderley Bar in New York’s immersive theater show Sleep No More. In 2012, he moved to Seattle to appear in a European-style vaudevillian cabaret, Teatro ZinZanni. In 2013, he opened for Eels during their U.S. and European tour.
In October 2013, Geier recorded a cover of Lorde's "Royals" with Postmodern Jukebox on RUclips. As of September 2017, the video had received over 21.5 million hits. Lorde declared his cover to be her favorite cover of "Royals". Puddles has collaborated with Bradlee on RUclips several times since.
Since 2014, Geier has toured the world, playing concerts in the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, and Australia. On September 27, 2014, his live performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", at the Regency Lodge Ballroom in San Francisco, was filmed by director Gary Yost and was later described by HuffPost as "A Strange Kind Of Beautiful"] As of September 2017 the video on RUclips had received over 4.3 million views.

It’s great seeing him touring and opening for huge acts. He’s been touring with tenacious D’s sold out shows. The crowd loves him and it’s soo great seeing him getting all of the love that he deserves. It’s rare to find an original artist with so much talent as This guy has. ❤️

Royals was actually his choice and he had been singing it for years before AGT, he posted a cover of it on YT in 2013 which is currently at 31 million views and Lorde herself called her favourite cover.
Puddles is a FABULOUS singer. A really great baritone voice! It's truly a pity he didn't go any further in the competition.

I saw him in a theater a few years ago. Brother had a ticket. I went in having never heard of the guy. Half way in you think "OK I think I get this guy". At the end you think "Woah this guy gets ME!".
Half the show is what happens between the songs. Never says a word but still commands the stage and the whole theater. Brings people up on stage and using body language and props makes you laugh big time.
Golden voice and can sing anything in just about any style. He sang "I will always love you" and would change styles each verse. The last verse was thrash metal :)
If you think you like this guy on video then you should definitely see him live. And you will really like him even more. Awesome guy.

I totally disagree with your point. In my opinion simon is gonna kill the talent. And not even worth a judge's seat ... I don't think anyone else has seen as much of a American British talent show video as I have seen. Because when my leg was broken. So I was at Bed Rest for seven to eight months and watched the show. And that is what the judge of the lowest and worst minds thought -

Puddles is part of a group called post modern jukebox. Such fabulous singers. They take songs and put a twist on the songs. They are fabulous. I love when he sings Royals as part of the group. And then to see it here.
Was looking for this comment. I was watching a BGT video with someone else singing and saw Puddles in the auditions room in a clip. Had to look this up, I never knew he was on Britain's got talent lol
The song was literally 20 seconds from being over Simon, come on. You could have criticized it after it was finished, it's his live performance you know how bad that looks?

Whoever buzzed this guy was an idiot. This guy is phenomenal. The who act is just wonderful. Been watching him for years and years. AND...Mike is a nice, regular guy. No stuck up attitude. Just a regular working bloke.
I believe it was Simon. Part of the reason *may* have been due to him singing a happier song, which kind of ruined the whole schtick of sadness that worked so well up to that point. I could be wrong, but that's what I feel happened. However, someone did bring up a valid argument that since Simon didn't see Puddles' performance as immensely profitable in the future, he didn't want to waste his time with him.
He let them influence his act when they started pushing him to be happier...and it cost him the show. If he'd just stuck to the sad clown agenda he could've went all the way.
That's his shtick tho. He does excellent covers. I don't think anything he could self produce could be as-good. Because of his personality!
No. If you actually experience his performance and listen to the words, you'll understand how this is the best performance of 'Royals' ever done so far. If you don't get the deep sad in 'Royals' AND Puddles, you're missing the show. Feel.

Not sayin it wasn't an amazing cover, but it looked and sounded to me like he was singing it as a general artist this time rather than "Puddles the Artist." Just returned from a Virgin Voyages cruise and he was one of the featured artists. Was so happy to see an AGT artist succeed out of this show and he is so much more than just a voice. A true entertainer that had a large crowd, laughing, singing along, and genuinely enjoying an entertainer. He may not have won a Vegas contract but he is clearly on a path to success. Well done!

I loved the duet with Haley and Puddles. Both of them were dissed by these shows. They have raw talent, and I can't believe these idiots can't recognize that. I'm happy both of them got the recognition they deserved.
It's not about talent to Simon Cowell, it's about who he can shave the edges off, package up, and sell to the masses. If you're not profitable and easy to remould, he's not interested.

I’ve been listening to this CLOWN for several days now and... I’m blown away by him. As someone who has been a professional singer (in another life) and have a “developed ear” for the industry, this CLOWN is much better than most singers today. His voice is professionally developed and trained. And oh! What a voice!! A mix between Freddy Mercury (yeah... it’s THAT good), Metallica, and Paul McCartney. But what he really brings is such depth of emotion through superior voice control. With this CLOWN, you don’t hear the music, you EXPERIENCE the music! The result is that many of the songs I’ve heard this CLOWN sing are actually better than the original recording artists! Boy! AGT sure made a HUGE mistake when they failed to recognize that this kind of super-talent that only comes along once in a great while. Thank you, Puddles for bringing your gifts to so many who adore your work.

In that last one; It is very hard for any musician to have the audience sing for you. You usually need a massive following and a ton of fans. And Puddles did that on his third time on stage.

Saw this guy last night at one of my new favorite shows ive ever been too. He opened for Tenacious D and man really blew the crowd away. Loved his mashups of song genre in different styles. Even song tempos to other famous song lyrics, really brilliant.
I'll second that. I was there in Pioneer Sq as well and thoroughly enjoyed the mashups, especially the pinball wizard/folsom prison blues. His antics kept me laughing.
Saw him last night with the D, he is truly a fantastic performer.
I was at the same show!! He won me over, totally love his act and voice!

This puddles is one of the most perfect and professional singer ive ever seen. Hè got the real vibe bro, i aint gonna lie.
His lyrics are simply genius. Brings that tinsel town perception into focus. His ability to sing each word with such clarity and to have something so meaningful, to express in such a way that happiness is something that is actually a facade. Fame and fortune are only temporary and putting oneself on a pedestal won't be everlasting, once your recognition through others fades away as just a memory.
This is a form of art that not everyone can successfully portray both visually and audibly.
