Actually Johnny Vegas is a sort of character he invented as his original stand-up persona! He is a very clever thoughtful performer, his timing is gold his intelligence is awesome!👍
He is and keeps good company with Stewart Lee.
@@pickersplayspop Agreed - some comedians are just on another level.
Not a character, he has multiple personality disorder, JV is a distinct and separate personality from Michael Pennington. He is a comedy genius though you’re right there!
True that. He is the king of improv. I've looked on RUclips and can't find it, but I know he had an improvised back and forth with Dustin Hoffman on one occasion. Dustin said he was a genius and a poet.
during lock down johnny was out delivering food parcels in our local community to the vunerable he also volunteered helping out various charities
St Helens Lad through and through, he loves his town and is very active in the community. Living legend. COYS
@@Thedandedan2 and loves his st Helens rugby league
From Texas since I heard his poem on cats years ago I knew he was a good man
Johnny Vegas played in my home town before he was on TV, about 7 people turned up. He just turned it up to 11 and did an absolute dynamite show to 7 people, then we all went to the pub afterwards and got drunk and he just kept going, by the end of the night the whole pub was in tears of laughter, everyone eating out of his hand
A brilliant comic and a master of pathos. His serious acting is also outstanding. Very much loved over here.
That’s our Johnny! His early part of his career was like this, he’s mellowed hugely, but still as funny a fuck…
I am from Sweden and know (the story) about Johnny, love him, LOVE HIM! I am a free spirit, but he calls me out...
Johnny doing pottery on stage while having a breakdown was a piece of comedy history.
Yeah I agree if he ever comes up in a conversation I always ask " have you seen having a breakdown while doing pottery "
That was brilliant lol
100%!
Johnny can do what he likes,..he's Johnny Vegas. He personifies the Court Jester who can roast a King, and get away with it. His routine needs the audience to play along with him, and play along they do. I think a lot of ladies have a fondness for Johnny. A lovely man in real life, with principles, and compassion, and a very intelligent man and unique artist. We adore him.
His poem on 8 out of 10 cats was actually very moving
Still want them to react to that
I saw their first react and that's the first think I commented with link
He's an artist. Artists push boundaries. He's a proper northern legend. God love ya Johnny.
Look out for his poetry. Amazing.
This man actually has a teapot he made in the Victoria and Albert museum in London. Multitalented man. The whole teapot took him 1 minutes to make. The whole teapot. Body, spout, handle and lid. A working teapot in 1 minute. Good enough to be displayed in a top London museum.
That is impressive!
He attained a BA degree in ceramics. 👍
I love Johnny he has been through his trials but bless him he is genuine nice guy with a heart of gold.
I’m sure there’s a saying that says something like “to be a true saint you first have to be a sinner”.
Johnny is a recovering alcoholic, although still plays up to that character. He is also a top level potter and used it as his way of destressing
he's not a recovering alcoholic. He just quit drinking. He needed booze to get on stage and perform in the early days, but so do a lot of rock stars and DJ's until they eventually expand their comfort zones and find that alcohol is no longer helpful and more of a hindrance.
Recovering? Is this a fairly recent thing? I saw him pissed in a pub in St Helen's singing karaoke around this time last year
The reason I love being English it’s literally anything goes for a laugh and we all love it
Many years ago we went to see his stand up show at a theatre in his home town of St Helens. It was bizarre, very funny, but still bizarre. He ended the show with a stage dive into the audience and then proceeded to lead the entire audience out to the nearest pub.
Dont worry guys, you won't hear a bad word said about Johnny Vegas... He's a great guy, no bad press, his stage persona isn't his real life persona. He's a genius of 'in the moment' comedy. Critiques bless him with the tagline of 'A Comedians comedian' because even the best one liner stand ups appreciate him for never telling one liners, or even jokes, just a whirlwind of on-the-spot creativity on stage. Legend.
I know someone who met him, said he was a bit of a twat
pretty sure that women he kissed in the audience sued him
@@alistairmurray626'Pretty sure' means 'almost certain'. Conflicts to the comments about her being in on it from the start so the only one thing left to fo Al, and that is for you to prove it, something like that cannot go past the public domain un reported.

You boys are slowly coming to terms with the fact that the Uk is on another level to USA in terms of music and comedy. We are a very grounded nation and as you've learnt in the past, nothing is off topic for British comedians. Johnny Vegas is a legend, he goes off on so many tangents on such surreal subjects it really is class. You should delve into this rabbit hole and if there are any dislikes it won't be from British people that's for sure. Spencer you need to realise mate that we don't get offended by this stuff, politcal correctness can go swallow a load as far as UK people are concerned in the main, we have this ability to be able to differentiate what's a joke and what's not, not that I'm saying you don't but a whole lot of your compatriats don't share this ability unfortunately.

Johnny is the most genuinely sweetest nicest guy and would do anything for anyone.
He's a comic's comic. And he is very good at it, every panel show he goes on he just causes havoc.
It's a beautiful thing to watch, look for him on QI, Last Leg and Cats Does Countdown. He's been on them all a few times, and each time is amazing.
Thanks for the great videos as always guys.
Don't forget Shooting Stars...
Johnny Vegas on Sunday Brunch was epic
@@whoisalexreynish he was a better host than the one that isn’t Simon
I so wished Jonny Vegas did the Oscars this year!! 😂😂
Johnny is great friends with my local comedy club owner and played there a lot. One night he turned up late and to not disappoint the customers, after the venue closed he continued his stand up in the back alley, while stood in a wheely bin.
OMG! What a legend of a man, he is.....
Jonny started off as a voice in his head, the voice takes over after alcohol and once on stage. His autobiography is one hell of a story.
Met Johnny Vegas at an Impact Wrestling event in Londay Wembley Arena. One of the nicest guys to chat to
His absolute amazement when asked to present for the Paralympics because of his caustic humour was awesome. His humanity, humility and intellect shone.
The man is a legend this is all an act and away from the stage he is one legitimately nice guy ❤️
@@Kazza_8240 not that disturbing
This man was a force of nature in comidy. U never knew what was going to come out of his mouth but it was always funny as shit. He took no prisoners and that's what made him one of the best out there.a friend of mine met him a few times here in Cork city drinking and sead he was an absolute blast to be with and real genuine too
Could you imagine if it was Johnny Vegas instead of Chris Rock at the award ceremony?
Johnny would have said "rude!"
Jonny Vegas is a legend I loved him in IDEAL he played a small time weed dealer it was based in his flat (apartment ) his best friend is a police man ...I'll leave it there PLEASE do a reaction to this amazing series IDEAL
Im on probation 😜

Johnny Vegas aka Mike Pennington is a angel. A true sweetheart bloke, his personal history is really quite tragic and it formed this second person in him. Johnny isn't an alter ego it's a legit spilt personality and is formed from Mike's rage at his own insecurity and dark stuff that happened to him. I highly recommend you read or listen to his autobiography.
He was also in the Libertine with Johnny Depp, and other movies. He’s also a massive St Helen’s rugby league fan and trained as a priest.
That gives the impression that he made an adult decision to become a priest. He was 11 years old and it was a boarding school and seminary. He does have a BA in textiles and ceramics, though.
That's Johnny's act, have a drunken ranty nervous breakdown whilst berating the audience. No one is offended even the woman he kissed. I've known him for years (we're from the same town) and he never repeats a routine, he's always doing new material. If you love his outfit, you should have seen it when he had a perm 😂
He’s actually very well dressed for a man from St. Helens.
Hahaha....
He manages the village football team just down the road from me. Crazy crazy man.
Johnny is loved and loveable
I love Johnny. Truly a national treasure. Last year, he had a documentary on Channel Four about him trying to set up a glamping camp site - “Carry on Glamping” and its brilliant. He is utterly adorable. The line between the real Johnny Vegas and his on stage persona is “blurry” to say the least 😂
And all for charity. What a legend. Wouldn't happen anywhere else. Love the reaction guys, crack on.
Johnny is hysterical. He got away with this because we love him. He has some fantastic stories about things that have actually happened to him including setting his kitchen on fire during lockdown while learning to cook. He was also fantastic on Taskmaster with Greg Davies. Xx
It's worth searching out a sitcom called 'Ideal' that Johnny starred in as the main character. Pretty dark comedy and really entertaining.
Amazing series that - crazy relatable lol
Amazing series
I'd forgotten about that. I'm going to watch it from the beginning. It was amazing.
Brilliant series with an amazing cast and characters 👍👍👍👍
@@Robin-cf9ts Cartoonhead has been my halloween costume for the last few years actually!
Next time you hear the words "Land of the free, Home of the brave" Remember Johnny Vegas, and ruminate...
I was a volunteer with security at the 2012 London Olympic Games. For whatever reason, Johnny Vegas was allowed to have a sneaky cigarette outside our security tent. Inevitably, we all wanted a photo with him. When it came to my photo he said, "Let's make it look like we have a history together", and he stuck his tongue in my ear! I looked terrible in the photo because I laughed so much. I wouldn't have tolerated it from anybody else. 😂
That’s Johnny Vegas and that’s a Nationally Broadcast, Official Charity Show. Nothing dodgy about him, he’s a treasure
Just trying to imagine him in Chris Rock’s place at the Oscars - not sure Will Smith would have been brave enough to do something about it 😂
He played the drunk character really well . He calmed down over time but is still lovable but just like a bull in a China shop 😂😂
The amazing thing about watching JV (especially his early stuff) is that you are sometimes genuinely not sure if you are watching someone have a mental breakdown on stage.
Keep doing Johnny he’s one off a kind the way he rolls with the crowd no one is safe
Johnny is a genius. Please continue right on down that rabbit hole and enjoy the ride!
Johnny lovely guy. total legend. Nearly another national treasure.
A genius and very much loved Brit. Absolutely jump feet first down the Johnny Vegas rabbit hole. You will not regret it. 🤣🤣🤣
He was in a sitcorm called Benidorm which I've seen a few Americans react to, the first few series (seasons whatever you call it) are worth a watch.
It's one if those shows that are so bad it's good.
The awesome Johnny Vegas! Yes keep going down that rabbit hole you won't be sorry. Keep up the great work guys! Love from the UK.
Johnny has mellowed with years, giving up booze.
He's a genuinely funny person and has a good heart. There's nothing in his past that's bad.
I think the worst thing that he's done has been to his health but fortunately he seems to be trying to get that under control
You might not believe it but Johnny is an incredibly well educated person. But you can see just how quickly his mind works even when he’s extremely drunk. He is one of our comedy treasures
Met him at an airport in Spain, he roasted all my families passport photos, quality
He's done all sorts of shows, and appears on 8 out of 10 Cats regularly. No scandal, he's a genuinely nice guy, and a very funny comedian.
PG Tips adverts as well.
I met him at London Underground. He didn’t want people to speak to him so pretended to be high as hell with beer in his hands walking through the underground shouting at everyone like some mad homeless guy. Was brilliant
Johnny used to have a show called "Getting pissed with Johnny Vagas" where celebs just sat in the pup with Johnny and got pissed. it was mental but didn't last very long.
I remember that with Rhys Ifans both totally shit faced 🤣🤣🤣
Love your reactions. That said I notice a lot of American reactors who watch British comedy. They all, yourself included love it. But then say "they couldn't do that here" Billy Connelly has played sell out tours numerous times in the states, as have other British comics. Not a criticism just an observation 😀
Johnny Vegas is also a talented actor in everything from Dickens for sit com like Ideal where he played a small time cannabis dealer.
As with a lot of these next level comics, Vegas (Michael) is a real genius. 18 stone of idiot was a masterpiece, however when you see him not as his Vegas character you see how much of a great human being he is.
There used to be a video of Johnny just unloading at a comedy awards ceremony where Paul Whitehouse is basically the front row, after working on the series Happiness together. No punches pulled.
Fun fact: the woman was a plant and Jonny is Dustin Hoffman's favourite comic.
Had to be a plant. No way anyone would take that risk.
She wasn't a plant, and believe me, he's done far worse. This was largely deemed acceptable in 2005.
@@dellzinchtshe was a plant I worked on the show
Of course you did.
@@dellzincht the fact you think that’s so far fetched brings nothing but joy to my heart.
What a shit life that you can’t comprehend there’s a massive team behind such a massive show.
Likely collecting trolleys at Tesco, nobber.
Saw him do a beach boys melody in his underpants in Edinburgh genius 👍
You guys ARE that mistake, and I'm glad to have subscribed for some time now. Very happy that comedy, music and reactions seem to travel so well across the pond. Good on ya both.
I was on a recording of IQ with Johnny and he went on and on and on... funny as hell but Stephen Fry was wondering how on earth they would be cutting the show. He was a one man show. Amazing.
Johnny is from St. Helens where I’m from and he’s great, defo need to watch Benidorm he played, the oracle!!
Glad you found him. He's a legend with an interesting history.
Seen Johnny live several times one of the funniest comedians I’ve seen.. utterly brilliant
I was in tears at him telling big narstie about him shitting on stage
Last time I seen Johnny ( Michael Pennington) he was at the same show as us a few years ago on a Christmas Eve showing of 'It's a Wonderful World '' . He was with his beloved late parents
Our national characteristics being: quiet, polite, modest and reserved - but Vegas is why we win wars. 😉
This kind of humor is not only acceptable it's a must. To be British you cannot take yourself seriously. All the best. Jan
Have you guys ever checked out the UK game show "Shooting Stars"? I think you'd love it!
Look out for him on 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown. He's legit, off-the-wall-hilarious, a writer, artist, collector, director and actor.
He played the lead in the BBC show Ideal, as a smalltime drug dealer who never leaves his squalid apartment, it's so good and so, so messy
This is my upload lol..seen Johnny a few times live..anything goes.he once abandoned his routine jumped off the stage and started arm wrestling with the audience.
Johnny no filter Vegas. wouldn't change him forthe world!
i love that you guys have got this deep into UK comedy. i wish there was footage of early vegas, cos i never saw it either... just heard the legend. can i recommend american clown dr brown?
Johnny Vegas was in a comedy tv show called "Ideal" which was funny
Everyone in the UK just loves Johnny!
Our hometown St. Helens celebrity, Mr. Vegas. Genuinely lovely bloke. Never forgets his roots and naturally funny human being.
Johnny is from my home town of St. Helen's, England. He is a legend!!!
Really enjoying the channel, discovered you yesterday and really enjoying it. Love to see our British culture and comedy reaching people who wouldn't ever encounter it without the internet. On a side note, Vegas is a legend and it's very safe to support him. He's actually a decent guy, amazingly funny though with his "horrible drunken b**tard" character.
Its so good to see you guys 'getting *it* .... Warms my heart!! Kx
I love Johnny! He did a sitcom type thing ages ago called 'Ideal'...nothing much happened in it but he just draws you in. I couldn't stop watching it.
Johnny lives/lived close to my parents. Met him once.Really really down to earth.Great guy
He's definitely a rabbit hole you want to explore, especially if you want irony with a bit of madcap ranting.
PS. Check out his sitcom Ideal.
ive just downloaded all seasons to watch again that show is gold

I don't understand how it and "Black Books" haven't had the recognition they deserve.
Guys I HIGHLY recommend that you check out Johnny Vegas doing pottery as part of his stage act. It's bizarre and brilliant.
That was a very early Johnny during his drinking days, since then he has become a shining example of comedic genius overcoming his drinking and becoming a well loved comedian. You should watch him in IDEAL he is fantastic In That series.
Lol. Congrats on discovering Mr Vegas. A legend.
This was his early years. Pretty wild.

'You look like a badly mended teapot.'😂 This is the best clip of Vegas ever.
Johnny Vegas is a national treasure.. Keep going down the hole.
And enjoy!
You need to watch the clip from the comedy awards where Johnny presents an award......soooo funny!
Comedy is about pushing the boundaries.
At some point the UK found 6th gear and we're driving at 120mph now. Buckle up.
The maddest thing I've ever heard about Johnny Vegas is he took a dump on stage as part of his act.

So glad you guys have followed up and checked him out more. National Northern treasure :) he will likely not live long! So enjoy him while we can! Lol
