For a country whose economy tourism plays a significant role, this is an awful way to treat tourists and people like Sunny who would of only promoted the country showing its beauty and culture.
I'm Egyptian, please please Before you wronged us, the Egyptian intelligence was aware of the plan to strike Egypt's tourism as they did in many previous videos just only filming to do distortion to our image, we have enemies have made Egypt for 50 years not allowed to rise economically like Israel after 1973 war as they always have phobia that we are considered as a threat to thim, you know Israel is controlling the world media and they always succeed to distort our image Israel has She has intelligence capabilities and an imaginary power that no one can imagine, please don't wrong us we have a hidden wars against our economy no one know it ..
To clarify, when they say "not beautiful" they mean poor. They are harassing the camera crew because they are afraid that they are going to capture just how run down egypt is and thus expose more and more the ruling regime as incompetent and corrupt.
I think the saddest thing is, if they did just want you to delete the footage because you didn't record the wealthy parts of Egypt, is that everything you showed was pretty positive, full of culture and hardworking people making delicious food.
Imagine someone who wants to start shooting videos but doesn't because they thinks they don't have good enough equipment and then show them this. No more excuses
So true! Looks so professional! I would've never thought that it was made with phones. Even after it was told that it was made with phones. It was still unbelievably amazing
As an Egyptian and a long time viewer of your show it breaks my heart to see that the only country where he had a negative experience was Egypt. But I think it’s a good thing he’s shedding lights on these issues. Hopefully the government will change its attitude.
It's not the people it's the government that says it all. Iv watched hundreds of videos of people travelling egypt purposely avoiding the police and being welcomed for tea and a chat by locals. If the government were the people egypt would be a world power
I hope you guys aren't living too bad over there, I thought the revolt that happened about a decade ago was supposed to be a good thing for the people :(
Government will make it worse! My in-laws visited Egypt in the early 80s and said they will never come again! And here we are after 40 years of military dictatorship! Hopeless case!
actually, thank you for raising awareness about this issue. its really a big problem and has been one for a while now. the thing is, even egyptain citizens are affected by this. so not only foreigners get treated this badly by the government/police, but also their own citizens.
This type of Dictatorship is what the parasite Elites/Oligarchs/Billionaires at the World Economic Forum want to implement with their so-called Great Reset (they should called in Great Devolution).
Absolute rubbish I'm Egyptian through and through and never ever faced any issues with neither police nor government.. This video is a negative propaganda stunt aimed at demonising Egypt!
@@mmjnr10 Propaganda stunt? You clearly haven't seen many videos from this channel. This is a food channel and Sonny has visited plenty of authoritarian and non-authoritarian countries in the past without any problems whatsoever. Sonny has traveled to countries like Iran, mainland China, Oman, Vietnam, etc and didn't have these problems until now. This is the first time they have ever encountered this filming issue. There is no reason or motive for him to make propaganda videos, especially against Egypt.
the most funny thing that the tourists are known in egypt to be well treated than the egyptions themselves so u gonna got an image now how we are trated in there xD we are just occupied by this fkin millatry gang who are running this country btw they arenot elected by the people they just do what they want in our country and anyone who involves himself even if with a facebook comment or post may be he got arrested and not being avaliable to his family for years so iam not surprised of what they done to him i just gone out of it cause i canot live in peace i just find my self every second threatend by my own people for no reason i just wrote too long but i wanted to raise my voice hear to inform more people how we are really feeling
First off- that iPhone quality is AMAZING! Great footage.. Secondly, The way everyone is side-eyeing you is so intimidating!! Honestly this place doesn’t seem like it’d be all that friendly but great if you can camouflage in haha
@@carloregalado7751 I respect his statements, but he will no longer be welcome back to the country. Should be careful with countries that are their allies. Curious if any of his crew have passport stamps from being to Israel. If so that explains a lot.
The man making the sandwich on the street totally touched my heart, when he notice you were shaking the wrong hand he instantly gave the wrong hand out to match you! that is total harmony, just proofs that people can stay true to the energy of harmony even in harsh conditions. so amazing! plus all the footage from the phone is so beautiful, and so natural. i think people reacted differently when the machine used was small and relatable, so people seems to be a bit more relaxed too.
That’s what you read into a hand shake?? You live in a fucking fairy tale. If someone tries to shake your hand with the opposite hand, you have no choice but to switch.
The F are you talking about? The dude just went to shake the other man's hand accordingly. Why people on the internet need to be so autistic? Have you ever been outside and interacted with someone in your life? Wait, let me try: "Oh look at 9:12 how the dude dropped a bread loaf on he's own head and didn't rage murder everyone on the street, this goes to show how these people are in tune with the world around them and found inner piece with Gaia". LOL
As an Egyptian and a fan of your show, I can only say that I am truly sorry for your experience, i wish I could say that this is an individual incident but that wouldn't be true, there is no place for rule of law in Egypt and the police authority comes from them being the police, at least that is how they see it. Each one of them do as they please, they are ignorant, unfriendly and corrupt.
Its unfortunate because Egypt is an untapped gold mine of Tourism, from the underground tombs, the pyramids, and the Nile River is famous around the world. Sadly that I always see in the internet that your authorities are worse than most known dangerous countries and thats why its at the bottom list, worse than pre-Taliban Afghanistan
When i and my family was in Egypt ...... They spat on my mother . We are Christians and tourist ...... How to fucking behave ........ Some males even offered my father to buy my mom . She's naturally blonde and blue eyes ...... I have a loss for words . We have never been treated so bad in our entire life's .. that's my experience from a country that my whole family saved enough money for years to visit . 0/10 that's the score
As an Egyptian citizen I just wanted to apologize for the horrible experience you had in our country, unfortunately that's the truth about egypt it's a horrible place to go, the government is mediocre and the police thinks they own us and look down on us, no body should visit egypt in its current state, hopefully things change and this dictatorship falls.
Considering the hell you guys went through, the resulting videos are still of impeccable quality. A testament to you and your wonderful team. Your honesty and candid narration puts your videos above all other food+travel videos.

As an Egyptian Really amazing episode because: you got to get to the real food that middle or lower class Egyptians eat on daily basis, and also you’ve been honest about showing the good and the bad sides, all respect. Great job!
You handled this like a champ. I lost my cool several times in Egypt. I witnessed other tourist have complete melt downs yelling and screaming. I'll never go back. So glad you made it out in one piece.
Was it from dealing with authorities or dealing with the locals? I spent a month in egypt in 2007 touring the country and it was a great time the whole way.
@@TONYROCKZ818 Goddamn that's a shame people were so friendly to us the whole time we were there and so happy to see some Canadians just stumbling around Cairo. Even the police were chill with us just smiles and friendly everywhere from Alexandria down to Luxor.
Thank you for distinguishing between the people and the government. The state of Egypt has been ruled by a gang of the army for more than 50 years. It was much more beautiful than that. Unfortunately, a gang of the ruling military drives the people.
I have a new found respect for this crew. Although they were constantly stalked by police, told to delete the footage, repulsed by their producer, the gave us the best documentaries about Egypt and food. I'm a major fan of the show and the fact that they were feeling uncomfortable while making these episodes shows their dedication to their audience. Thanks so much. I hate the bad experience you had but still found a way to get some footage. My hero ❤🙌
I like the fact that you didn’t hide your personal experiences as a tourist to the country. Being straightforward makes this show more interesting. And Damn! You are so good at describing foods. I basically understood the textures without feeling it.
Sir, I’m Egyptian and I LOVE THIS SERIES! Can’t wait for more vids from you. And of course thank you so much for showing to the world what Egyptian authorities do to people here, like drone, cameras and so many stuff are against law and we don’t even get it 🤷🏻♂️ I hope you see my comment and thanks again for being fair and super nice and I really wish I could be there while you were filming to say hi and welcome you in my humble country ❤️

i and my friends are planning to visit Egypt after pandemic to experience the culture at food. Now we are having second thoughts. But the food Sonny presented was superb👏👏
Enviable? Did you see the conditions they're in? Also doing the same thing for hours and hours and hours everyday with MINIMAL salary. We don't have these skills here because we use automation. They are good but they are machines, I don't envy them. The temperature alone...
@@aleigor450 it's still a skill to master. at least he can say that he made the bread for the people there. something to be proud of. it's not always about money. its about what you can give to someone what he appreciates.
Sonny finds a respectful, positive, and fun way to view every dish, locale, and culture -- It's what makes this a great show. If he had a bad experience and felt the need to report it to the viewers, it'd be best to listen. I appreciate how he differentiated between the authoritarian authorities vs the local people he could share his time with. Thanks for pushing onward
This has happened once before, when his drone and some of his other equipment was confiscated in Laos or Cambodia (I think? Not sure exactly which country). This was back when the channel was still starting out and he had bought all of his equipment with savings from his previous job. It was a huge bummer, and he had this same tense energy throughout that series too. Kudos to Sonny and the team for making the most of a bad situation.
@@revinaque1342 His drone was confiscated in Capital City of Phnom Penh. He flied in no drone area which was Royal Palace zone. Locals or Foreigners require permit to fly the drone in these zones including historical sites like Angkor Wat Temple. It was sad but he should have researched more about country rules. P.S: The rules stated to detain the wrong do'er(s). Fortunately, he just got confiscated his drone, otherwise, there might be complicated lawyer and embassy involve. Welcome to Egypt, the great ally of France, US, Germany, Canada etc. It's ''elected'' leader isn't a former general aka warlord at all and Egyptian people are enjoying great ''democratic'' values!! While at the same time could bitch about Turkey for example which is a million times better than those countries, however Turkey isn't a weak puppet perhaps that's the problem...
This is a good reminder that traveling to other countries isnt always fun and games. This goes for every country that Sonny has visited. Make sure you do your research and plan your trip with local guides to stay out of trouble.
First time I've ever heard Sonny speak negative about his experience in country he's filming in! They also did a Great job considering that they filmed everything on their iPhones.
I think it was in Cambodia where some of their equipment was confiscated too for and it never got returned to them, I remember Sonny saying that he'll never return to the country too

Yeah it really made me reconsider going to many countries even though im a brown man. LIke I heard Morocco is pretty backwards too and tourists get harassed. If something happens in these places to you, their police probably wouldnt do anything to help you either since they let it happen so frequently anyways.
@@hassu2149 I spent a month in Morocco. It was incredible. The locals were welcoming and friendly, the cities and countryside were beautiful and the food was amazing. Respect for maintaining your composure & adapting by shooting with your iPhone. Took "no excuses" to another level. Honestly if Apple was smart they'd pay to license this video for marketing the versatility of the iPhone lol

@@lyledeporiss5937 I'm glad that you admit that Mac Studio totally *under* *delivers* , and at a ridiculous price point. But Mac Pro is ridiculous too: $17,000 USD for a configuration with 28-core Xeon CPU, 96 gb of RAM, and 6800 video card. An equivalent PC costs maybe $6000. Another overpriced JOKE from Apple Corp. And by the way, the so-called 'independent reviewers' that you spoke of are not independent at all: Apple will black list people that post honest, but negative reviews of Apple products. That means no product samples, or invitations to events in Cupertino. So everyone is afraid to get black-listed by Apple. If you don't believe me, just google it and read all about it. Windows rules the world, and Android also has a HUGE marketshare advantage. Mac has a tiny 10% marketshare, after 38 years in business. Pathetic.

Historic paranoia from the times when their neighbor to the east sent droves of spies and when they fought wars against them and the French and the Brits. Also even Gugle messed with their Arabic spring version. So there's a backstory to that.
Unfortunately even us Egyptians are unable to shoot in our own home. Even for Mass Communication students like me, I've been pulled over by police multiple times for simply shooting for a university project. They don't care about permits and they harass you especially if you're a woman. It's very disheartening to see this corruption affect innocent tourists as well, but your documentary was still so amazing despite only being shot with an iPhone. Keep up the great work!
But why tho why the hostility towards cameras i feel like it would bring more tourism if u had a positive outlook with the cameras like whats so illigal about filming.
I always wanted to go to Egypt some day... But after seeing numerous amounts of videos about how strict it is and other things, i don't think i will actually go.
It's been a surveillance state ever since the 2013 coup (assisted by the US and Israel). Even liberal Egyptians who hated the democratically-elected Islamist Mursi believe that the current secular Sisi is much worse because he's authoritarian and a narcissistic despot.
I also wanted to go and see the pyramids and sail up the lifeline of mankind out of Africa. But seeing how Egyptians treat women was enough deterrent for me. I'm not going to a place where I'm treated like a second class citizen by the government and like property by the men.

The moment where Sonny and the Team visited known authoritarian and isolated places like Cuba, Zimbabwe, and Iran and having a fun time there while Egypt being Egypt is still way at the bottom of every tourists' list beside DPRK
It's almost like the term "authoritarian" used against western allies introduced by neoliberals have no meaning, and liberal democracies (pretentious) like Egypt that are also puppet governments to the West are the ones that are actually "authoritarian".
What do u mean by isolated , in the eyes of media yes ' but those countries are good if you choose not to listen to your media , just visit them and see for yourself ,they are not what your media, says ' Every country is authoritarian that's why Trump supporters were arrested ' yellow vest movements ' black race demos in States

Kudos to Sonny and the entire team for the resilience they shown, this is proof that no matter what they throw in your way.. Find a way to do your job and make them look like fools👌
As an Egyptian myself, I sincerely apologise, the police in our country can be corrupt, I am glad you got to experience our food but I am sad that you had incounters with the wrong people, thank you for still being able to upload the videos!
Do you guys smile in egypt?
@@martijnvkk all the time
@@martijnvkk we only smile in egypt bruh 😁
US is much more corrupted and demonic .. you are brainwashed fellow Egyptian
Can be? They ARE corrupt
Never visiting Egypt. Thank you for the heads-up
The moment where Sonny and the Team visited known authoritarian and isolated places like Cuba, Zimbabwe, and Iran and having a fun time there while Egypt being Egypt is still way at the bottom of every tourists' list beside DPRK
yeah I'm egyptian and totally not surprised in Egypt even if you're a local or a minor you see a police officer you turn the other way
Iran looked amazing. Don't buy into the propaganda!
@Exu You ever been to Zimbabwe my guy? Zim might be authoritarian but it’s definitely not isolated nor do they care about people filming.
I'm really appreciative of Sonny & his team for sticking through the challenges and still providing us with content. I was able to learn ALOT cause I look forward to doing so with every video produced. BTW did anyone else see the guy trip at 6:54?
I sure did. 😂😂
I’m weak!! I saw that 😂
