    this is genius!, thank you very much!
    i used my A1 for almost 4 years with the fart sounds.... (reduced low frequencies via equalizer)
    back then i bought one directly on the webstore of bang&olufsen and when i asked about the sound preoblems, they replied, that there are no known problems. I returned the A1 and bought one from Amazon (also cheaper for 149€). And also this device had the farting sounds, so i thought it was normal (stupid of me to keep them anyways)
    so when i opened the speaker, the plastik unit had a lot of cracks where the screws are applied. And also the gasket did not keep the air in the case (thats what makes the farting sounds). i tried to glue all the cracks and applied a self made gasket.
    Way better now!!!!

    Yep, air-sealing is crucial to this kind of speaker "cabinet". I fixed one with a similar issue, I sealed up the screw holes as well with tape under the top cover. Working properly the A1s have amazing bass for the size - I run two as a stereo pair when out sometimes and for a tiny portable setup they are pretty awesome and people wonder where all the sound is coming from.

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  2 года назад +4

      Agreed, the sound from this thing is really nice! I used a bit of the butyl to seal the screw holes too, just in case, so i think this will keep working well now! Might have to get another one! 😬

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 2 года назад +5

      They should have installed a silicon gasket around the edges if air sealing is so important for this specific unit. That would have improved its quality of life extensively since it would maintain a better seal after impact and faulty repair attempts and just wear and tear would mean less air slippage overtime as the plastics take a beating.

    • @schertenbronk
      @schertenbronk 2 года назад

      The same. Covering the screw holes with tape does the trick.

      @@Honeypot-x9s doesnt help. i own two units and they break horribly around the screws. this unit produces really powerfull bass so if a screw or the housing breaks, it is very hard to contain all the pressure that the screws should hold with some gluey gummy stuff inside.

    Hey Steve 3:30 re the gluing part, the absolute best way to glue broken cheap plastics like the ones you're holding is to use super glue with Sodium hydrogen carbonate (baking soda). What you do is place a bit of super glue on the broken bits, fuse them together and then sprinkle Sodium hydrogen carbonate onto the glue, it will act as a catalyst/accelerant with the glue and create a rock-solid bond within 1-2 seconds! Maybe use a toothpick to plug the hole so you can screw in the screw once you're done. Food for thought for the next repair ay.

    BTW - there is a rubber gasket that is TINY around the rim of the base. looks like they left it out or it was not sufficient with the bent frame?
    my story - my A1 1st gen c2016 took a spill off the bicycle on a corner and dented the speaker. Then the bass buzz started. I figured the worst and bought replacement A1s. anyhow, watching this prompted me now in 2024 to see whats going on in disassembly. one bass speaker screw seemed it wasnt as tight as the others. washed out the dirt and dust on the outside of the speaker flexing band. on re-assembly I found that loose screw seemed to FLEX the base post -- on further inspection that post had shattered 70%. scratched up the post and surrounding areas and then mixed up 2 part 5 minute JB epoxy (W-mart $7) and a small aluminum piece to add rigidity. im fairly certain this was my buzz. waiting on a NEW replacement battery and im thinking my 1st gen is back on the road again.

Just be sure what you glue and how; it sticks instantly. Trust me, it works and for certain purposes, it might just be "better than factory". I promise you: it. will. be. just. SOLID. gloves won't hurt. the internet seems to say that this stuff is mostly safe-ish, though they seem to claim it can cause irritation and can build up more irritability over time if you use it regularly

    Butyl tape is incredible - it never sets, and always remains sticky!

    I have had all sorts of issues with replanting posts. My advice is consider the ca glue with baking soda trick to build up body, or better yet - sugru. You can just make a new post entirely. The problem usually comes once you try to put the screw back in.

      Seems to me like epoxy putty, like the miliput he used, would be better since it set's hard instead of being flexible like sugru.

    Maybe it's the recording, but this speaker doesn't sound like it's worth the retail. It doesn't really sound like it was worth 40 pounds either.
