My theory is that books in KU are smuttier these days because if an author list their book as erotica they pop up in search engines less so I feel like there’s a blend of romance and erotica and erotic romance all being called romance which is obviously confusing and frustrating for alot of readers
I'm totally with you on not caring as much when there's too much smut. There's that sweet spot, and then some books just go beyond that. Also, I really like this video style. It would be cool to see more comparisons on books with the same title.
re: the dirty talk in romance books, that's pretty much how I feel about all of Ms. Tessa Bailey's books. Like if a dude I just started seeing said some of the things those heroes say, beyond being weirded out, I feel like I'd probably just laugh in their face because bro WHAT.

Love the premise for this! If you're looking for 2 books with the same name, you may have already read them but there are 2 Icebreakers that are also hockey romances. One is the hockey player vs figure skater, the other is a gay romance with 2 teammates in college falling for each other (but it's a stronger coming of age story than romance)

I'd like to nominate Icebreaker (by AL Graziadei) and Icebreaker (by Hannah Grace) if you make this into a series! Maybe a bit more YA than your usual romances but I really like AL Graziadei's book.

I think the older I get, the more I appreciate romance bonding through emotional connection than physical (wild concept). I don’t mind smut scenes, but if it’s more than like 3, I’m skimming. I don’t care how many ways they can raw dog it. They can go at it upside down, doing a backflip, juggling in a circus, and I still won’t be interested 😅

I have to say I've read Chelsea Curto's last release before the Face Off, which was the third book in the series, I think she overall published around 10, so now she's not the new author 😂 Anyways, I had overall the same critics about it as you did with Face Off, there's just so much sex. I am a smut reader, but it was one of the first times I just had to skip it. Thank you for saving my money, I won't be getting her new releases any time soon.

Maybe try “love kills” trilogy by Brianna Jean. The characters grow so much from book 1 to book 3 and just it was a romance like I’ve never read before personally thought it was more on the unique side of storytelling.
