Kenji dropping a soda bombshell at the end
we love to see a parent modeling accountability to their children
Drinking a whole can is a bit much. Maybe just a Squirt is okay.
We stan a hydro homie queen
Love these vids! At the end of this tour, will you be showing us your version of Teriyaki? Thanks in advance.
Probably before the end of the tour in fact.
@@JKenjiLopezAltdrop it ASAP please! No teriyaki places like this near me and you’re making me crave
@@JKenjiLopezAlt can you check out coconut sugar as a sweetener it is low glycemic.
“Thanks in advance” what is this a business email?
@@JKenjiLopezAltwill you make your own sauce?
You can tell that Kenji is enjoying the salad by how vigorously he's shaking his fork at it while he eats
Apart from anything else you’re doing a wonderful job of showcasing the beautiful city of Seattle!
I don't even live in the US but I'm so invested in this series!
By now, every teriyaki place within 100 miles of Seattle is stepping up their game on the off chance that Kenji stops by
There is no off-chance. I am stopping literally everywhere.
@@JKenjiLopezMain you're doing everyone in Seattle a solid😁
Love the story of the server, and the soda rule. Thanks for another upload to this wonderful series.
i ❤ Kenji's Teriyaki Videos
I’d buy the T Shirt!
Kenji reppin' iceberg lettuce is why he's the realest
Drive by this place twice a day everyday and it never occurred to me to go in. Glad to know it’s a good one, time to check it out!
Kenji is more teriyaki than man at this point.
Are you saying he's sweet and delicious now?
He’s tender and juicy.
"Kenji was seduced by the dark meat of the Force." - Obi-Wan, probably
@@joshuaworden274"He's more teriyaki now than man - sweet and delicious."
What a great way to have lunch. And a slice of great Seattle weather most people miss.
Google is showing I Love Teriyaki as 4x busier than usual 6 hours after this video dropped lol
Just want to thank Kenji for this recommendation - a month ago I went to Seattle for the very first time and tried both this place and Paseo's, which Kenji also recommended in a separate video. Both were phenomenal and I wouldn't have tried had it not been for these videos. Thanks for these reviews and also for showcasing the beauty of Seattle! Definitely was a big influence in me finally deciding to visit.
I got engaged at that dock!
Kenji's teriyaki criteria so far:
Prefers Japanese style rice, sticky but not mushy
Salad in a separate container, dressing not too sweet.
Gyoza: ideally potsticker style with fresh dumplings, but deep fried can also be good if the skins are crispy and not greasy or tough. Sauce- can be any style as long as it's not too sweet.
Chicken: thighs, marinaded and grilled fresh, chopped then sauced and served (no chopping then reheating).
All solid criteria. As someone who's eaten more Seattle teriyaki than I could ever hope to tally, those are what I look for.
I used to live a few blocks away from this place and would visit twice a week and head over to the Fremont brewery for a beer and dinner. I NEED to make a trip back!
I’m a little concerned Kenji will soon never eat teriyaki chicken again- like when you get drunk off tequila in college and can’t drink it decades later. 😂
i feel seen
More people need ro see this! Love this series
I've been watching one of these each day while I eat lunch (sadly, no teriyaki - it's definitely a dish I miss from when I lived in Seattle). So it's like having lunch with Kenji every day.
I appreciate you putting the neighborhood name in the title.
The rare two camera setup for this one 👍
Could even tell by the thumbnail that this was gonna be a good one. Thanks Kenji ❤
Love the two cameras, especially at this location
I'm in the Tacoma region for work and just had my first Seattle Teriyaki experience at House of Teriyaki, in Tilicum outside of JBLM. It was fantastic.
I've driven past this place a hundred times and never stopped. I'll give a shot this week!
I Love Teriyaki is my second favorite place in Seattle, only next to Midori. Awesome video, these are so fun to keep up with!
So glad you went here! Definitely one of my favorites.
It's outside of Seattle, but if you're ever up north you should consider trying Ta Joia! in Bothell. No hype, but their spicy chicken along with their cilantro sauce and pico de gallo are all amazing. Maybe not "traditional" teriyaki, but to me it's worth the trip.
I've been consistently craving teriyaki every day since you've been uploading these. Keep up the great work!
Kenji maxed out all the attachments for his bike.
Lovely review. Kenji has a deep, sweet soul.
I noticed some time ago that you looked much younger, Kenji. Now I know why: in your video you said you stopped drinking alcohol.
Thank you for such wonderful content.
i Love Teriyaki is one of my favorite places, so sad I don't live close to it anymore. Loving this Teriyaki series! Thanks Kenji!
Love this series
Nice video. Gonna have to stop by here next time I’m in Fremont.
Make sure to hit Ichiro Teriyaki in Magnolia Village! I always get their spicy chicken. They are kind of unique in that they have cooked onion served with the Teriyaki
That's my spot! Love to see that it made the cut!
I finally went to visit, the teriyaki and gyoza plate was the best thing I ate in Seattle by far. I ate it for lunch and went back for dinner. I never finish rice when it's served with a meal like this but I ate every last grain because it was just so good. I liked this neighborhood/area way more than downtown across the bridge too. Really nice over there.
Checked this place out recently. Huge portions! Thanks for the recommendation
I don't live in Seattle, but I still enjoy this series! What I'd really enjoy would be a video of Kenji making chicken teriyaki!
I used to work about a block and a half away from there and works go there almost weekly. The prices, like most places, have SKYROCKETED. I used to be able to get chicken and gyoza for like $13, but I went there the other day (first time in a long time since I don’t work nearby any longer) and was shocked to pay $21 for that combo after tax and slight tip. The food was still absolutely amazing. I will continue to stand by my claim that this is the best teriyaki in Seattle.
I love these videos, though they do make me very homesick for the PNW.
I always get the “Spicy Chicken” there….been a longtime favorite….i get my Highlander serviced at Pacific Rim a couple blocks up Stone Way!!! “SMELL THE CHAR!”
Smell the Char would be a great t-shirt for this series!
@@genjii931 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Such wholesome content!
Our go to was I Luv Teriyaki in Georgetown. The char on their chicken was terrific. Then irony struck and the place burned down. We miss it.
I Luv Teriyaki was also my family's go to. Been going there for 3 decades. I miss it very, very, much 😭 Google maps still says that they're "Temporarly Closed," and I'm hoping so h that they'll re-open.
All the ones I've tried recently were okay. They just don't pass muster. I'm glad this series was recommended to me. I'm gonna to have to give the places on the recommended list a try (If I haven't already.)
Can't wait to see more South Seattle locations! I've been interested in trying Buxx Teriyaki, but you'll probably make it there before me. haha
Tbat place is easy to overlook as the streets out front are torn up due to ongoing construction. But that teriyaki looked very good. One to check out next time I pass through the area.
Nah Kenji you had the right idea at the start. You gotta stop drinking soda "in the video😉" LOL.
I don’t live in the US but this is one thing I will always be jealous about.
The food culture is amazing.
You can eat anything you want I love it.
Here in Germany if you don’t live in Berlin you barely get like so much international food
If you're in a large city, yes. In small town America you usually have a few fast food options at best. I'd trade all the McDonald's, Subways, and Taco Bells for a Dönerladen within 500km of me.
@@gabelstapler19 The thing is, if you live in Germany, Döner places are the *only* good/decent places to eat that won't charge you an arm and a leg. Eating out in Central Europe is on a whole other level of bad.
As an American living in Germany (going on 9 years), I wholeheartedly agree. Coming from Chicago, even Munich is a downgrade, though here there are really good options, they're just pricier and not as good on the whole.
I like how the production value is slowly creeping up...
If the series is popular I’ll invest more time in it!
I noticed too, great work! Lots of little improvements.
As the videos have gone on I've kept wondering what your second POV camera is... I guess those are Raybans with cameras in the frame? It looks like they have decent recording quality specs, but the quality of the recording is definitely noticable in the video. Those macro shots are great!!
I grew up about an hour north of Seattle, and had few favorite spots as a kid:
K’s Teriyaki in Arlington
Tokyo Stop Teriyaki in Oak Harbor
Teriyaki Point in Smokey Point/Arlington
I'm not a huge Teriyaki guy despite living in Seattle, but Byen Bakeri deserves the shoutout it gets here. It is a nice bakery.
jealous of the weather yall having 🥲
I used to work at Tableau and we went there all the time. I had no idea how good we had it
I like that place as well. I don't use the laundromat often, but when I do, I go to that particular one so that I can get teriyaki next door at that location.
Thank you! Finally some love for the humble Iceberg
At this point I don't think Kenji has eaten anything but Teriyaki since this series started.
I believe he's had at least a slice of pizza. Which reminds me... Teriyaki pizza reviews incoming?!
and a plug for Maruta Shoten family owned japanese market in Georgetown 1024 S Bailey St, Seattle (not for teriyaki, but the other take-away food is great)
We must know if she got those cookies 🥺
I live in seattle, and I drive out to Issaquah for the best and only teriyaki . Teriyaki bistro is truly the best.
This has been best Teriyaki spot in the whole city if not the NW. Glad the word is getting out!
And their teriyaki salmon is absolutely phenomenal
Thank you for moving these videos off IG! Not being able to watch in landscape mode was bugging me. Interested to see your thoughts on Yasuko’s, which was my neighborhood spot when it was on First Hill (now only in Interbay). Had a cabbage slaw/salad instead of lettuce salad.
My favorite spot in the city is a hidden one in downtown. It’s in a parking garage, called Community Grocery. Would highly recommend
Big Soda in Shambles: Seattle Legend Swears Off the Stuff
He didn't swear off it, just down to one a week. On camera where hi daughter can see. :)
Love your bike!
It was so damn nice out this weekend!
One of my faves and favorite spots to eat it
Is the recording using the Rayban camera glasses? Really liked your perspective with the back ground still there.
looking forward to all the teriyaki in King and Pierce County, coming soon to a restaurant near you
👀 bike ride for Teriyaki!
I've been researching for my Seattle itinerary, I have it as the last stop on my vacation starting in San Francisco. I have time for 1 Teriyaki spot and I think it's going to be this one. All of the top spots are closed on Sunday so I've had to change things around but I'm gonna get that chicken & gyoza combo no matter what.
God I wish someone would do this in LA. Also, Kenji would love to know your thoughts and process on quitting drinking alcohol. Interesting.
Is this location owned by the same people who owned the I ❤ Teriyaki in Georgetown? That one was fantastic and was so bummed when they burnt down. Good to know there’s another place just as good! 👍🏼
My neighbourhood spot! Sweetest people ever
You were right by University Teriyaki in the U district at the start of your ride! My old go to spot back in the early 2000s. Not sure if it's the same owners, now it's called University Teriyaki and Bakery.
I hope Teriyaki First on 85th in Greenwood is on your list. They add grilled onions which is a game charger. Plus you can eat it at Chuck's Hop Shop across the street.
Kenji, I live in Portland and got some teriyaki recently because of you. When I get around to visiting Seattle, I will be sure to use your teryaki videos as a reference. Also, I'm glad you're a defender of iceberg lettuce. What are your thoughts on macaroni salad as a side instead of the green salad?
Could just tell this one was going to be good from the thumbnail.
🎶 Kenji used to eat by the docks 🎶
I just know these shop owners talk, and they are running these kitchens like the navy when a guy talking to himself with sunglasses walks in, lol!
Also think it would be main channel worthy, when you're done, to drop a compilation of all of these!
Are these prerecorded, or are you literally eating teriyaki chicken everyday?! I hope you don’t burnout on it. Love the series.
Kenji, do any of these shop people recognize you? If so, how do they react? Great series!
3:00 he’s on the money with iceberg lettuce.
Hey Mr Kenji, you should hit up Tokyo Stop Teriyaki over on the eastside if it's not already on the list - they have the best chicken katsu I've had in the area (no curry), and the best spicy teriyaki, and are a very lovely family joint.
Bro is living it up
My go-to place! Spicy chicken and vegetable!
I luv teriyaki in Georgetown used to be the best spot.
outstanding!
Seltzer and Diet sodas are a good exception to the soda rule.
the teriyaki hunter strikes again.
I used to work about a block from here (at Geocaching HQ). I ate here all the time. It's insanely good.
In fact you can se the building on the left hand side at 1:24
Oh and a big closeup at 1:39
Thoroughly enjoying the teriyaki tour so far!
Can I ask what phone tripod you are using and if you like it?
DJI Osmo 6. Great little tripod for the price especially.
The west side of the bridge is where @rctestflight tests some of his ground effect boats.
Yasuko's used to be my go to--haven't been there in years though since they closed the location closest to me. One at 3200 15th Ave W, Seattle
Yasukos in West Queen Anne! Best “salad” and best pork teriyaki!
RIP soda arc.
Did you get a chance to see the cherry blossoms at the start of the video?
Hell yes! That’s why I started the video there!
I'll throw my recommendation onto the grill! Nasai teriyaki, specifically the one in Kirkland off 85th
these teriyaki videos fuckin rule, kenji
There was a I heart Teriyaki in Georgetown that burned down about a year ago that was super delish! I have to get to Freemont to try this one. Anyone know if it's the same ownership?
I don't think it was owned by the same people... the one in Georgetown was "I Luv Teriyaki".
I like the ham texture hahaha
what are your thoughts on un bien vs paseo? i am a firm supporter of un bien. also.... you should film a video at salumi!
When you're done with Seattle can you do Portland?
