@Eri I get where you are coming from, but in this specific situation it is beyond absurd mostly for the sheer fact that she wanted to him to die for her dogs and paintings. Keep in mind this is a person she knows and stays over night on HOLIDAYS.This is not to say dogs lives are unequal, but putting someone at risk isn’t right and the part that is infuriating isn’t the dogs it’s the paintings.
even if a lawsuit doesn't come to fruition, at least the guy can feel somewhat validated and has the support of thousands of people should he want it. had she not outed herself as a trash human, this would've just been swept under the rug for her and her overly-privileged friends to laugh about at the country club
to summarise, sharon here started a fire in her house, fetched her personal assistant (read: this isn’t his job description) to get her expensive paintings and dogs out, and then took away his oxygen mask when the fire service arrived, gave it to her dog, and sent him back in without giving him time to recover or just trusting the trained professionals *who were at the scene,* and then FIRED him when he didn’t want to laugh about the long-term health effects of the fire on his lungs, a situation she directly worsened.
I looked it up and she later claimed the person left 15 years later for unrelated reasons. Still such a terrible look and really jarring for the series.
The sad part is he was Ozzy's assistant, not hers anyway and right after this she tried to make herself look better by saying Ozzy started the fire not the candles she left burning unattended..... I mean good lord... the lack of regard she shows for the only reason she's even known is amazing. Some people in the comments are saying this shouldn't be in a (Christmas) episode of WILTY and ruined the show for them. I say kudos to the show for not cutting it out and doing Sharon the favor of not exposing her. She needs to the see the kind of backfire she will receive to hopefully grasp that her side of the story might need some reconsidering.
If I were the producer, I would have cut it and used it in the end-of-season bits instead, but I take your point. Negative examples can be useful sometimes.
@@sacodepapas488 I think it would have been awkward in the context of a 'light entertainment' show. What they did was best: let her do the self-exposing and (maybe) some thinking afterwards.
@@sacodepapas488 they seemed to be going along with the bare minimum required for the show to run smoothly, but from what I saw the jokes were pretty targeted at condemning her awful behaviour in as humorous a way as possible, and from their faces they didn't look like they were enjoying the story that much, more the rollercoaster ride of 'this can't be true'
After she fired the assistant, he should have chucked her paintings back into the burning house. Let's see how funny she thinks it is then. I'm not mean enough to wish he chucked the dogs back in, too.
He literally ran into a burning building to save a few paintings and dogs, and she fired him as a reward. For not laughing hard enough at the permanent lung damage he suffered. This woman is a legit sociopath.
I was hoping she was lying about that. wow she only cares about herself. This story is disgusting i wouldve told her tell your dog to get your paintings i quit.

@@hedgehog8245 And, as for her dogs; I saw how she, (and everyone else in the family), ignored their actual needs... Walking them, bathing them, giving them proper food and exercise... Those dogs weren't "pets"; they were "living decorations" that were afforded the luxury of having a mansion as their "potty" because no one took responsibility for them and walked them *before* accidents like that would happen.
I remember in an earlier season that David and Lee joked about how when they get really desperate for content on WILTY in the future they'll end using really horrible and depressing stuff like "I had to see a psychiatrist after mommy left" and acting like they're somehow funny. This is why I'm certain everyone hated her and that's why they kept this in. We know what this woman is like, she probably turned up for filming late, made a bunch of insane demands, treated everyone like sht, acted like royalty, and when this story came up they knew it was an opportunity to not only let the other team go at her but show the public what she's really like. Don't worry about the studio audience, most of that laughter is paid-for or dubbed in.
I think it is amazing that we actually got this story on TV, because we know that assistant has been telling this story to everyone he knows, and finally people will believe him
She afterword claimed she didn't sack them, but the Truth/Lie was, "I once sacked a member of my staff because he showed absolutely no sense of humor during a house fire." She admits to sending them into the house to grab paintings in this, which in itself is psychotic, but I don't buy that she lied and then said on the show it was True when it would make her look like she's crazy. What seems FAR more likely is that she's so out of touch that she didn't see how awful the whole thing is (which seems likely given that she doesn't see sending an assistant into a burning building as being bad in this clip) and told the truth on WILTY, then told this less out of touch but still extremely out of touch cover story that, "Well yeah I did send them into a burning building, but I didn't fire them despite the fact that that was the whole point of the story on the game show."
Yes. Her contempt for others was the most shocking thing about it. The fire brigade of course were ‘lovely’ but that didn’t stop her ripping his oxygen mask off. And putting in on the dog? Surely that but can’t be true, can it? 😱
@@peteowen3539 How would you know he actually suffered any damages or even needed the oxygen? I would urge this assistant to go to the hospital and get checked, possibly sue her if this were the case. Her actions just show she thought it was a ridiculous show and exaggeration on his side. She put it on the dog as a reaction to his over dramatic attitude, not as if she was robbing him of it. It was her way of saying that the dogs inside the burning building suffered more than him sleeping in the guest house. I don't think she asked him to go inside an actual blazing fire to retrieve some paintings. She clearly doesn't think he suffered in any way at all by the clip. If your ex druggie husband with a disabled arm in a sling can attempt to help with the fire, why can't the assistant show up when the alarm goes off? What pushed Sharon off the edge was hearing him say 'I don't see what's funny in any of this' when the family were laughing on about it. People probably assumed this was a lie because of how overtly villainous it was so they didn't take it very seriously. The show is called Would I Lie to You, so I wouldn't give them crap for this and stick to placing the blame on the actual person telling what turned out to be a true story.

It was so ridiculous I felt like calling social services. I have plenty of opinions on Sharon though. Vile creature that she is.
If her goal was to make the assistant look bad. It just shows Sharon has completely no human empathy for her assistants. Forcing an assistant to sacrifice his health and then fire him afterward for not seeing the humor in that. Can't get more horrible than that.
You know how you watch a heart warming video of people doing something nice and humanely and someone says "my faith in humanity has been restored"? Well, my faith in humanity is non-existent at this point.
I noticed a few people are complaining that the audience and other panelists are laughing. You have to remember that as far as they know, this is just a lie for the card. I think it is amazing that we actually got this story on TV, because we know that assistant has been telling this story to everyone he knows, and finally people will believe him
My goodness!! She revealed her evil personality. What a hateful person! She was telling the story with absolute hatred.
The contempt in her voice as she says the assistant was ‘sleeping’. 2:20.
