People always mention Lee when it comes to quick wit and improv, but I think how quickly David can think of a way to say anything in a comedically posh way is just as impressive.
“Because a lot of its analysis has been discredited” is a great example of this.
"You have to get past Pearl, in reception."
Very nice.
quality tbf
I know her mother.
I think David comes across more as an anxious nerd than a posh bloke
I agree. Educated ≠ posh!
But sweet
He is posh though.
He comes across as posh because he is.
If he also comes across as a bit nerdy then that’s a side note
"Who among us can be sure who we are?"😊
Cogito ergo sum.. am I right guys?!
@@ralphzimmermann Usually the answer to your question is yes...but after watching a few episodes of WILTY, we doubt existence.
‘You know I’m not allowed scissors!’ 😂
"Oooo he loves it" always gets me
Bob's enthusiasm is precious
It's obvious! Anything to do with less contact with people, David would LOVE!
The first one seemed really probable, especially in hindsight with his latest book.
I'm currently reading it, great book!
In hindsight? Like after you found out it was false? Makes no sense.
@@NeungViewHe means in hindsight considering David Mitchell's new book Unruly: The Ridiculous History of England's Kings and Queens. Makes perfect sense!
With hinso
Exactly. I’ve just bought it too.
I really love David’s reaction to the clean film idea to protect his puzzles. It is as if he has seen the light after many decades of toil.
Cling film would be difficult to then remove off of the puzzle without taking pieces with it.
Eggcorn!
Right , as if he was thinking “Finally a benefit from being on this show!”
@@Tao_Tology They explained in the video that you assemble the puzzle on a tray, then wrap the cling film over the tray, so presumably the film is held up by the borders of the tray without actually touching the pieces.
@@kardRatzinger No, my comment stands.
Lee's joke of "does the wand fit" just slipped right by.
Looks like it would slip right in.
because it's long and thin@@M077Y
Can’t you just picture David in his cape and hat, with his wand at the ready?
And it seemed like just the sort of thing Victoria would buy
@@Tjs736 I could almost suspect she did it because of this show. :p
That's too much sexy talk for me.
David is adorable! All it takes is a wand and a hat to make him happy.❤
I'd love to see David Mitchell as Holmes and Hugh Laurie as Watson
... and Bob Mortimer as Moriarty? :D
Hugh has already played House who is base on Holmes. I think David would make a better Watson anyway.
Jo Brand with the coffin 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 brilliant
Predictable joke awkwardly inserted
Not sure how any of these clips show him to be posh but always enjoy David Mitchell's quick wit
I haven't heard the word plimsole in at least half a century 😂
I had to look it up.
The speed of Lee is unreal
Agreed, but remember they're edited for tightness.
They actually edit more pauses in to make Lee seem less fast. You can google this.
❤
@@dubaipapa2012 wow, I think it's a lie
Am I allowed to touch David’s wand 😂
No
Well Victoria might not approve if you did... 😂
I was just quoting Lee.. thought he made a funny quip
Lee destroys or breaks things! The answer should always be "no!" He was even rough with the wand and the end came off and fell.
When he broke the pen AFTER saying he would not, that was not funny at all and the look on David's face and what he said was sad....!
An uncomfortable silence followed.
Lee's quick repartee is what he is great at. Amazing humour!
I thought that if David wanted to get rid of a fox, he would put on his red coat and bowler hat, leap on his horse, drain a glass of port, and play a view halloo on his horn.
Is that before or after he kills a peasant?
Now that Lee knows about David's irritation with people fiddling with his puzzles, I can see Lee working to get invited over to dinner so he can find a puzzle and fiddle with it.
Yeah but David likely knows Lee well enough that he hides his puzzles anyway.
The first one was a lie,the map was of saxon Europe 😂😂
Simply brilliant and amazingly entertaining to watch :)
"Ah, but does the wand fit?" 💀
The admiration of Lee for David’s “you have to get past Pearl on reception” 🫡
Seeing Jim Broadbent on the panel made me smile.
that guy is everywhere
Right? So many good guests
Great Show.
Thank you 🙏
When Lee breaks Davids things I hate him...lol
We've got one of those wands!
Never got it to work properly though. 😆
Unruly is a great book by the way. And David is a great storyteller.
Oh...I'm posh and repressed and repressed and posh.
That wink 😉
If you are serious about jigsaws, like my husband, you have a puzzle mat.
That is a felt mat that you can roll up.
It holds all the puzzle pieces in place, and you can move the jigsaw wherever you like.
You can even take your jigsaw on holiday, with you.
Cling wrap sounds like a silly idea.
Ooh he loves it!
Having worked in retail slower ways of paying, collectively, add a lot of time to clearing a big queue.
I just got home from my retail job and this was my entire day in a nutshell
You are lucky you did not work retail in the heyday of the check
Mitchell's point is that typing in a pin is barely longer than 'hold card to reader, wait for card to be recognised, payment process'.
I am shocked that David does not know the correct way to don a hat :O
Quite right. He should be wearing it on his elbow.
The worst part of these is that they never explain if it's partially the truth or how they really feel about it.
That’s true. Wish they had a blog of some sort
Even the true ones, I'm sure they embellish them a little. It would be nice to know how much of it is true.
Any new episodes? I’ve seen these episodes too many times.
They got David ALL wrong with the first one! Anything do with LESS contact, David would LOVE. COME ON UNDERSTAND YOUR INTROVERTED FRIENDS
I think it took me about two years before i accepted contactless payment as safe so I would believe it
I used to think Rob Brydon & Ben Miller were the same guy
There was a fabulous episode of QI where they appeared together and joked a lot about the resemblance
@@lilymarinovic1644 They even wore a similar shirt.
He comes across as posh every time he opens his mouth
He does doesn’t he? 😂
Only if you've never met real posh people in London.
posh and repressed
contactless must be safer becasue nobody can look over your shoulder and get your pin.
But if someone steals your card, they can only use it if contactless is activated.
Additionally, it's vulnerable to someone just carrying a terminal around and hitting your pocket with it.
@@RainbowSunshineRain I was thinking this too and the only way I think that it is safer is that they can't directly withdraw money without your pin and would need to just use your stolen card to make payments instead of just knowing your pin and withdrawing all your money.
sorry, is this not every episode of the series front to back?
That jigsaw one, if it actually takes david 3 months to do a jigsaw then he does need help, i mean ive only done 2 jigsaws that each have 1000 pieces, the first one took a month mainly because i was waiting to get a frame to put it in then the second one only took 3 days
never sweater vests
I have never used Apple Pay to make a transaction, because I wouldn't buy an iPhoney in the first place.....😃
David Mitchell always worth watching with his stories.....
Please don’t tell us you are a blandroid user, those things are a hackers wet dream
It is a Samsung, and certainly not an over priced iPhoney which brings out a new and improved model with a new paint job costing a 100 quid more and the battery needs charging after half an hour.....Oh, and neve been hacked.......😁
NB: educated ≠ posh.
if david’s lie implies he’s a boring geek, they go for it
what exactly makes David "posh" ??? Didn't his parents run a Pub ??
Nothing. It's just the general impression he gives and part of his public persona. They have said in interviews that him and Lee actually had a very similar upbringing in regards to economic status, school and where they lived.
He went to Abington day school and so yeah, posh
Yes it's true, David does have a wife and she's pretty damn fit also lol
Can hardly say he comes across “posh” when some aren’t true!
He still "comes across" posh as what you "come across" as is determined by the person listening, not the truth of the situation. You could call me a pedant here, but you're effectively being one too.
These examples weren't even particularly posh! I thought they'd have included stories like the one where he had a little bell that he'd ring to summon squash at his grandparents' house.
@@hannahk1306Yes, but that example was already in a David Mitchell comes across as posh compilation video. That's why this title says there are even more instances when he comes across as posh.
I love the fact that David and his wife have recently had a second baby daughter. They kept the pregnancy a secret. I think their older girl is about 8 years old.
So its just david winning rounds
even more times this channel uses the same clips every time
David only appears "Posh" to peasants or the hoi polloi.
well, yes. They're the only ones that use the word.
That’s me then.😂 You must belong to the Elite😅
@@schaudhry4976The "Elite" ?
Pah, peasants the lot of them.
Someone needs to tell David that the entering the PIN thing is significantly less secure than the tap thing. Entering the PIN involves doing a particular physical action that someone else can simply observe and memorize. So you're taking an extra action that is a security risk instead of simply skipping an action that is a security risk.
It's like riding a motorcycle and wearing a helmet. Sure, it's a layer of protection, but if safety were paramount, you'd simply not get on the motorcycle in the first place.
It was ... a lie
U mean an utter snob?
Shows how low UK has sunk if David Mitchell is considered posh
Wow! Miaow
Lee always marks himself as a beach by never fully committing to any answer... "a lie even thou I think it's true"...that is a BEACH thing to do. Lee has no clue that he is marking himself as a little BEACH by doing this?
I love reminders of the absurdity of the 6' rule, which was just pulled out of some bureaucrat's arse, based on nothing. Everyone complied like the sheep they were, knowing it was all nonsense but playing along so as to not rock the boat.
There's over a million Americans who would argue that, except they died of covid.
Some of us knew it was nonsense and stayed away from everyone.
@@Ryan-zv3os you’re right! I stayed away from everyone as much as possible. Have to say that I saved a of money on gas!
Well.......no, it wasn't 'based of nothing'
(and I refuse to believe that you think it was)
There was a, largely, airborne virus and it _really is_ true that if you are further away from people you are less likely to spread it to others.
If you ask me the realistic functional 'protective distance' should probably have been like 18 feet but that would never have been seriously enforced.
It's obviously better to stay apart and they had to choose a number, any smaller would be pointless, bigger would be impractical
This will probably sound Sgt. Buzzkill, but I was thinking about Jo Brand's joke, about her husband getting her a bathing suit 2 sizes smaller, and that he's looking forward to seeing her in it, and then she got him a coffin and said the same thing.
This is an INCREDIBLY toxic joke that we just laugh off. I have no idea if this actually happened or not, but let's pretend it really did. In this case, her husband has noticed that she's gaining weight. This is both a health issue, and an attractiveness issue. He pointed it out to her in as gentle a way as possible. He's saying that you're overweight, and he would like to see you thinner and more healthy. He is showing you his preference, in as nice a way as I can imagine.
You have a choice at this point. You could lose the weight, showing your husband that you care about his opinion, and that you want him to feel attracted to you, so you will do as he so heavily hinted and lose some weight. Or you could wish him to die. Which of those two actions sounds like it would lead to a happy marraige, and a happy & healthy life?
Why are we so accepting of toxic femininity?
You're making a LOT of assumptions about a hypothetical relationship for a throwaway joke here. There was no indication that she'd gained weight prior, just that her husband thought that she was fat. She's under no obligation to "care about his opinion" just because they're married- if he doesn't like the way she looks, then tough shit. This isn't "toxic femininity", it's sensitive masculinity.
It was a joke. Geez.
Virtue signal harder
People don’t t realise historically both are from the same type of backgrounds and education it’s just one encourages the idea that he is rough working class background and it’s not David
