He was a big rig tow truck driver, went to school to become a certified diesel mechanic. Avid outdoorsman. Learned to shoot and properly and safely handle firearms of all types from about 8 years old. The boy was Bambi's worst nightmare if Ty sighted him in with a compound during bow season. All of us have always been pretty proficient with firearms and pretty good with a bow. But that kid was uncanny. From a very young age he was in astounding shot with a bow. At 8 or 9 years old we started him out with lessons at a local sportsman's shop. After a very short time he seemed to have a gift from God when it came to putting an arrow EXACTLY where he wanted it. I don't remember his grandfather complaining about having to follow blood trails from hell to breakfast. Once Tyler acquired his target, that was it for whatever happened to be on the receiving end. He absolutely loved going fishing. He just wasn't an indoor kid. He also possessed qualities that just don't seem to exist for the past few generations of youngins that have come up in the world. He was genuinely empathetic, compassionate, kind, and generous to a fault to those that deserved it. He had no time for those that stood around with their hand out. I instilled in him good traditional, christian, mostly conservative, family values. And he well understood and practiced them. He understood that at some point in everybody's life they need a hand. Maybe they need some advice. Maybe they need a little bit of money to get their shit straight. Maybe they need a whole lot of help. Sometimes a good swift kick in the ass can be some of the best help someone can offer. As long as the need was genuine and not coming from a place of greed or entitlement Tyler would make damn sure he went without before someone he deemed deserving fell short. I was proud of my boy. Still am. He was an "old soul". His heart was so big it literally knew no bounds. Not enlarged and struggling like Lee's, but just such a great kid, teen, and subsequently man. There weren't many like him. I don't see any today. But that goofy ass laugh.
Joey Diaz is one of the best storytellers out there. The memory on this man is unreal. Theo is a recovering addict so he follows the tradition of helping others and being kind and accepting. Two great men.
I just witnessed a lifetime bond develop between two men that's on a whole other level. It's as if their souls knew each other in another lifetime and there was unfinished business or unrequited love (not in a creepy feud /revenge, or romantic/love interest kind of way, but a mentor/student, loving, wholesome, precious way) and this is them meeting up again. It was so genuine and touching I cried.
Theo Von is the new guy to my list that I follow now. Since he was on JRE the other day, I've got another source of entertainment. The same thing happened with Joey a few years back. Then Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer. It just keeps building and building. I love that all these comedians are united in a way.

Watching this in 2019. Classic Theo Von on The Church eps are my favourite of any podcast ever.
