Yes, Yes, Yes!
What a truly wonderful analogy.
Pain is to the body, what suffering is to the mind.
A message to say that something needs attending to.
Thank you, Rupert ♥
Or, as Byron Katie says, suffering is an alarm-clock that tells you that you're dreaming. (You have mistaken yourself for a fragment.)
This is exactly what I was looking for. The isness of things is Awareness itself. What is is Awareness.
This is true letting go
This one made me cry. How beautifully expressed by Rupert. Forever grateful for this. What is meant to be, is already ❤️
I have transcribed every blessed word "knowing" it is filling my thirsty heart with the grace of Awareness. Thank you forever. Irenee
Rupert’s answers full of wisdom and beauty
'How do you dive into panic attack?' Great question.
In Rupert's answer to this question lies the most useful and clearly explained information about the "suffering" triggered by chronic pain that I have come across.
Thank you Rupert.
Has this helped you dealing with chronic pain?
I still feel a few times a day that my pain is something external to "me". The weaker that false narrative becomes the less I suffer. Constantly keeping that in mind has absolutely reduced the suffering to the point that I often don't even think about it. Before I was pretty much in a constant battle and would have welcomed the diagnosis of a terminal illness. So if the measure of truth is happiness then non-dualism in general has helped me immensely. Rupert communicates these teachings very clearly to me but other teachers have also helped.
Just keep on looking inside and keep on reminding yourself of what is true; there is no separate self and because of that there is no suffering. Everything is OK. It always has been and always will be. Know what you are experiencing and end it there, don't contemplate it. It has to become a part of daily life. Eventually the suffering will find nothing or very little to hold on to. Apply this to everything, not just physical or emotional pain Watch your thoughts closely so they do not have a chance to ruin your life. Don't turn this into another struggle. Reality can only be experienced and you don't need to do anything about it except pay attention
SDnikko. Thanks for your posts.
Physical pain like toothache is a message from the body that it needs attention- go to the dentist. However chronic pain that doesn't have a definitive medical treatment is another thing altogether. Like you I find observing it and giving it space to be there, softening and allowing it somehow detaches the anxious finite self and the intensity of the physical pain diminishes. It's still there but more in the background as I rest back into the awareness. Not something the mind can fix...
As a medico myself I was very interested to read of a study demonstrating that meditation works in pain management by releasing brain endorphins. Half of the trial group were given naloxone (which blocks endorphins= opiates) and they felt the painful stimuli more than the other group who had no naloxone, all whilst doing mindfulness.
Yes everything is OK even when mind is screaming that it isn't. Of course this doesn't negate doing whatever one can to address the cause of the pain.
Best wishes
@@stanfield5124 Don't we release endorphins all the time, as to be able to sit for a while or walk for a while, or do whatever it is that life implicates? If it's the case, no wonder half of the group that got naloxone felt uncomfortable.
Beautifully said. Thank you. To me, the energy dissolved when the energy has been felt in the body with the witness' heart.
"The fact that it is already happening means its already allowed by awareness"
Embrace all experience without resistence, pure surrender to what is = no suffering.
Anabrese Neuman yess! 😊
@@InTheEastStuff😍
Which means, embrace and surrender to your suffering as well, especially if there's nothing to do about it, and go to the heart of it to see that even pain is a label.
“How would you even know it’s depression?”
Wow!!
I wish Rupert had taken up her request to explain the "diving into the heart of experience" using her panic-attack example. The root of all panic attacks is the fear of death. Diving into the heart of the experience of the fear of death is exactly what Ramana Maharshi did - and it resulted in his profound liberation. I've often wondered if future Non-Dual guided or self-guided meditation or therapy or sadhana sessions might consist of exactly this - consciously diving into the experience of the fear of death - with the end goal being the death of the ego.
We are only seeing a clip of this Q&A. Perhaps he went on to speak of it?
@@consideredwhisper Fair point. If so, I'd sure love to see a clip of it - could be very powerful and effective.
Real peace is right at the heart of experience we are trying to avoid, so all we have to do is just accept and not resist any experience we are experiencing 👍
Thank u with love and gratitude
Thank you!

Thank you

Why do I feel stuck in my head?
It's the momentum, listen to his video called mind is a habit.
But I can't find it!!!
👍👍👍👍🙏
I say to myself: thought is ok, just don't think about it when noticing. But how to deal with period pain?
I have often thought how wonderful it would be to have a period hut - not because of the ‘uncleanness’ or any of the ego-based patriarchal reasons but simply because how wonderful for women to value and explore the gifts that menstruation reveal to our culture. Perhaps this is the pain - the denial of what nature is offering up to women, if only we listened close enough...
It's the same method - to dive into the heart of period pain. The period pain simply reminds you to pay full attention to your womb (which is suffering pain). I've tried that approach with my period pain this month - it did work, much better than a pain killer.
2:33 Toothache example
The unpleasantness is the intelligence of the body telling you to take it to the dentist
(and prevent it from happening in future)
Brush twice a day. (Better still... within 30 mins of finishing a meal)
- -
In interactions...
The unpleasantness (in ones' mind) is the intelligence of the mind telling you... this hurts ...and to prevent it in future !
Meditate on Staying Peaceful (*) twice a day ! (Better still... within 30 mins of the incidence ...and keep getting better until one is instantly peaceful... i.e. there is no unpleasant reaction!)
(*) i.e. Meditate on Becoming Conscious of unpleasantness!
