  • There are many lures and presentations anglers can pick from for bass fishing during the spring and pre-spawn, but some long-time staples often get overlooked. During the spring, the wacky rig can be one such technique that anglers forget about. In this video, we're going to look at some different ways for using a wacky rig when bass fishing and how they differ from more traditional techniques. #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips

    Are wacky rigged worms a confidence bait for you?

      Yes, I caught more bass on a wacky rig than any other lure this year so far. Its so easy and simple to use, pretty much dummy proof.

      When i use wacky rigs I've gotten a PB in spring,and December near Christmas, so it's a good year round option for me, I like it near cover,and out deep,clear or stained water. It's just useful,and skips docks well too! Go Lowbrow 💥 🎣 ✌️.

      Went fishing yesterday and tried many different lures and the wacky rig caught 90% of our bass.

      Great video, my second time to watch it. I fish the Wacky rig probably 75% of the time. It is very effective and catches big fish and like you suggested, I fish it weighted and weightless. Great bait.

      I have just started using the wacky rig. I saw on a YT video someone had a new twist to making a worm less destructable by using a ball point pen spring. They cut off the tightly curled portion of the spring and "screwed" the spring through the mid section (accross the worm, not lengthwise the worm), cutting the spring flush with the worm and threading the hook down the center of the spring. This eliminates the O ring and if you use a Mann Elastease worm, prolongs worm use. A Zoom worm works well also.

    I love a wacky worm in the spring! I don't ever see anyone else on my lakes doing it! Junebug or green pumpkin are what works best for me.

    Good video. I rig a wacky worm differently. I use 3/8 inch shrink tube cut it in about 3/8 length. Insert the worm to the middle and shrink the shrink tube to the worm. Use a weedless hook and insert it through the worm in the middle of the shrink tube. I often catch 8-10 fish on the same worm. Very durable. Hope this helps someone.

    Great video. I like the wacky rig up in the brush myself. I do a couple of things different. I don't use o-rings. I use a bait keeper spring through the middle of my sinko. It increased my hook up ratio running that way instead of through the o-ring and got better action out of it to. Just my preference, everyone fishes different. I use a weedless wacky hook, too. I still get snagged sometimes, but who doesn't fishing brush lol. I loved that waco rig deal with the tungsten in the sinko. Never tried that before. I'm trying it next time out, lol.

    Hey Lowbrow, I was thinking the other day about putting a wacky rigged stick bait on a shaky head (without the screw lock) perpendicular to the hook. I haven't tried it yet (it's been raining here in Western Arkansas) but I hope to be able to try it tomorrow (Saturday) when my brother and I go out on Ouachita. Planning on trying it in the creek openings along the rocky banks in 0-20 ft. of water between late winter staging areas and spawning areas. Thoughts? Thanks for the videos. 👍🇺🇸

      I often use a 1/4 oz bitsy bug jig without the skirt and wacky rig a stickbait on that. Catches tons of fish. So I think putting it on a shakey head would work great!

    Where do you insert the nail weight?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  4 месяца назад +1

      Rig the worm weightless like for a Texas rig but with a small 1/0 lightwire EWG hook. At the egg sack, bend the worm in half and push a 1/16 oz weight into the middle of the worm, down towards the tail. Tungsten is preferred because it's much smaller, but lead will still work.

      If you fish a wacky how i fish it you can power fish and cover ground faster. Its basically a drop shot wacky rigged. But shhh i dont tell many people the secret. Youll catch more bass than a traditional wacky 3:1 ratio any day of the week. As a bait maker who owns a tackle business i can confirm this. When theres big ones around is the only time i use a regular wacky.

      I know they have been around for a bit. My uncle fished wacky rigs in Florida back in the 1970s. He showed me when I was a teenager, but he called it something else. I can't remember what, though. That's been 40 years ago.
