I'd love to have ya, lol! Normally it's pretty warm here in the winter. But that's been few and far between this year. We've had much longer than usual cold snaps. Today we're back down in the upper 40s.
Normally I have my topwater box with me at all times, but since I haven't had a single topwater blow up in over a month, I decided not to take it with me. I won't make that mistake again! At least I had those devil's horse lures in my tacklebox!
Are you left-handed? The only time I ever see the handle on the right side on a spinning reel is with a southpaw-even though I see it ALL THE TIME with baitcasters.
Yep, I'm a southpaw. To me, baitcasters are done backwards. A "righty" baitcasting reel just feels more natural in my hands. I can just cast and crank. No swapping hands.
Man, I'm as right handed as anyone can be and I have always put the handle on the right side of every spinning rod. Guess I'm just weird or different or whatever but I can't use em any other way. 👍🇺🇸
I always take my devils horse out of the package and take the factory hook hangers off, I twist up some stainless wire and make my own hook hangers, drill small holes and put the hangers on because I just don’t trust those little screws in the factory hangers
I know some guys who completely change out those old hook hangers. I've done it a couple of times, myself. But I never really had a problem with the hookup ratio on a devil's horse so I haven't noticed much of a difference.
Have you ever had an epic day of winter bass fishing?
Do you have any idea what the approx water temperature is?
This is awesome. Old Roland is always talking about the devil's horse.
It's a great old school lure!
Looks fun. Shore wish that would happen here.
It doesn't happen often, but I'm happy it did!
That's just crazy! I've never seen bass hit topwater like that in winter. I wish it would it warm up like that here.
The bass get active when the weather has a chance to warm up a bit!
I have always struggled during the winter. One fish or no fish was my normal winter trip. Thanks for giving me hope for different results.
Keep working at it! You'll start catching tons of nice fish in winter!
That was a great video! A lot of fun! Makes me ready for the pre spawn!
That pre spawn will be here before you know it!
Same exact thing happen to me couple of days ago in northeast Florida. I had a spook Jr and they couldn't resist.
When that topwater bite is on, there's nothing more fun!
Awesome video!!!! Great catches!! Oldies but Goodies!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
Thanks! I'm happy you liked the video!
A Rebel minnow is one of my all time favorite lures. Great from the bank!
It's a classic for a reason! Great lure!
I've never used a devils horse but it looks like the same thing as a Boy Howdy and those are really good.
They are very similar, except a Boy Howdy is plastic. They are both great baits!
Caught a lot on one Winter day using a Spinnerbait and a rubber worm but really nothing as good as that day was. Thanks LowBrow great video 👍🏻
Sounds like a great day to me! Thanks for watching!
The devils horse is a fantastic lure
It certainly is! I've caught many, many fish with them!
You still down there in a tshirt. LOL I'm staying with you from Dec-Feb from now on.

I've had 20+ day in mid jan in post cold front bluebird skies.. on a popper so I've learned to always have my topwater stuff with me!

Great advice LB. Thank you.

I think we should all go to the mad scientist route and just throw in a lure that heats up the water 10 feet around it for winter fishing😂
Bass do like to congregate around warm spots!
I haven't see bass act like that in months! I'm more than a little jealous, not gonna lie.
Haha! It was a fun day for sure!
It's a collectors item now. Most wooden baits are.
Some of those old balsa baits fetch a good bit of money at those antique lure shows.

@@LowBrowFishingSame. Nice to have access to baitcasters, especially since much of the rest of the world isn't that lefty friendly haha.

It is so awesome to see those old lures work! I’m sure those fish haven’t seen those before. What a day you will always remember!
@@SteveRogersOutdoors It was an amazing and fun day for sure!
But the devils horse is awesome especially if you seal them
Mine were sealed once upon a time, about 40 years ago, lol.
