There are a lot or great old lures out there we just don’t see much anymore. I can’t even think of the last time I saw someone throwing a jitterbug. Used to love fishing that lures.
My dad whipped out the ol hula poppers the other day were getting close here in indiana just need a warm week or two with no cold cold night temps ! Love the energy sir! good luck this year!!
I watched my grandpa reel in 2 large mouth bass and a bluegill at the same time on a pond fishing it near a downed tree and the funny thing was the owner of the pond said they're alot of bass in it and no one could catch them because they wouldn't bite. Yeah right they just got use to getting hooked every time they saw a worm.
Boy Howdys and devils horse from Heddon have been staples of my topwater fishing for decades. Seems to me that prop topwater baits are making a comeback and more lure companies are making them.
What's your favorite old-school lure to use?
I use the good old zara spook and the smaller version allowing the bait to pause for a few seconds occasionally on retrieve.
Absolutely a Spook. I do like a Hula Popper from time to time as well.
Hawaiian Wiggler for me. For topwater, Spooks, Boy Howdies, Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers. Love Fred Arbogast. Yes, I am way old.
I can’t even remember the last time I saw someone fishing that old classic jitterbug. Lots of great old lures that get forgotten for sure.
My father-in-law left me a ton of old jitterbugs. I had seversl already, but his were from way back.
The smallmouth near me get worn out on the black double jointed ones
I haven't caught anything on topwater yet this year but I'm gonna keep trying! Rebel pop r or a whopper popper is my go to.
Those are great baits!
I weighted my tail hook and tied some white hair on it. Can't wait to find the perfect spot to just twitch it and watch it go under
Try pop R pp71 black color

You really don't see old lures much at all anymore.

Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for sharing your hard work and passion sir!
It's been cold and rainy here but as soon as it gets better I'm heading out to the water!
Waiting out bad weather is a pain, especially when you don't get to go fishing that often!
Got my first bow howdy a few weeks ago but haven't used it yet. I got a bone color prop version. This video makes me really want to use it!
I bet you'll catch a ton of bass on it!

Well done, nice harvest.👍
Thank you!
Never tried a Boy Howdy, but I really like the Devils Horse! I got some Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers over the winter to try this year as well.
Awesome! Those are great baits for sure!

I have been seeing new versions of prop topwater baits.
I don't fish topwater much from my old pier. But I can see it working pretty good.
It works really well!
Can’t find those anymore 🥺 Great baits.
They work so well!
It’s way way too early for top water where I’m at but for old school you can’t beat the jitterbug.
Jitterbugs are great baits that still catch tons of bass!
I like a popper but they don't sell a boy howdy near me. Guess I need to make a purchase from Tackle Warehouse. Like I really need a reason 😂
Agreed. It's too easy to spend money on new gear, lol!
Spinner bait with living rubber skirt bass don’t see them anymore.
I have a few, but you really don't see them being used anymore.
Hey what’s with the old guy stuff? 😂
You're only as old as you feel!
Absolutely wrecks fish, so much fun to fish! 🏆🎣
Agreed!
Lazy Ike
Don't see many of those any more!
