Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding were three of the absolute best fast bowlers to ever play the game. Garner with extreme height and pace and bounce. Marshall so fast and skiddy with immense control and Holding who still in 1984 could bowl rapid and destroy a batting side.
Plus the West Indies had Greenidge, Richards and Lloyd who would get into a world X1 with the aforementioned fast bowlers. They were a magnificent team.

This was by no means a bad England side, but there was no resisting that WIndies attack.
Malcolm Marshall would be my pick for the greatest test match fast bowler there has ever been. He was an intelligent bowler who: used the crease well; could move the ball both ways off the pitch at speed; varied his pace well according to the conditions that prevailed and; not a tall man, bowled a skiddy bouncer that was hard for the batsmen to evade.
