I don't know. I like the fact that this firearm is short, I feel more confident moving around close quarters. I also hear a few people complaining about accuracy with this. That hasn't been a problem for me. I'm actually surprised at how accurate it is. Love the action strap also. Gotta have a good grip on this bad boy. I'd take the video down because for a solid 2 minutes the gun was an NFA AOW. You need to remove the barrel and forend before install to render the gun as non firing.
Nice vid sir. I’m considering this or the beefier version for my 590A1 and I will also convert my as yet to be purchased V3 Tac 13. I do like the simplicity and minimalist approach the lesser of the two braces.

Braces have not been made legal. A court has said that the rule prohibiting braces was not within the scope of the atf authority. That interpretation is subject to change. In addition, modifying the 14 inch shockwave without getting the nfa stamp is clearly illegal because you have basically made a short barrel shotgun. Some guys on here say that a brace is not covered. Like hell it isn’t. My advice: don’t become an atf test case.
cool vid would have been cool to see it shoot after, personally i do not mind the original grip - works fine when held correctly i Purchased a raptor recoil strap and it’s even better than before. with an elevated red-dot works very well. How is your brace working out for ya?
It's a great idea because it adds control and accuracy to your Mossberg Shockwave but....it is incredibly easy to cross thread when installing. I think I received mine previously cross threaded and it had been returned to the retailer. I should have checked the threads when I opened it. You are screwing plastic onto plastic with narrow tolerances and that is a snafu waiting to happen no matter how careful your are. If you feel any resistance when screwing on, STOP! You are about to cross thread. I had to send mine back for a replacement. Would I buy again? I don't think so to be honest. Great idea, useful, legal but not quite ready for prime time in my opinion based on the price.
Definitely not, altering the “firearm” creates an NFA weapon. Please check the laws before altering the firearm. The firearm has a defined length. Note: this is not classified as a shotgun !
This is offered as a factory option from Mossberg. As well as Remington & Blackaces tactical. It is not a shotgun, it is a firearm, so the lack of a rifled barrel is irrelevant.
Gotta say, not a big fan of the pistol grip. I put one on an 870 Express version with an 18" barrel and didn't really love how it handled...it looked seriously cool, definitely had something to do with why I did it at all, but it totally changed the way it fired.thats probably an incorrect statement. The gun fired as its supposed to but it wasn't to my liking. I would be careful to call it a shotgun. It's not a shotgun. It's a firearm that runs 12g shot shells but isn't a shotgun. It's a scatter gun. Wouldn't want ATF coming and saying you intended to manufacture a short barrel shotgun out of your non nfa firearm.
True. For ease of clarification it’s just easier to call a 12 gauge firearm a shotgun, especially since it’s pump action and a shorter version of something similar.
I have a Mossberg Persuader, 500A. Magpul says they don't make the forend this model. It appears you have one. Where did you get it? Sorry. It appears you don't.
No disrespect intended but by removing the birds head grip, this now is an NFA short barrel shotgun and has to be registered with the ATF. The loophole that mossburg found is that if a shotgun comes from the factory without ever having a shoulder stock installed, it is not legally a shotgun. It is a firearm. The only way that this can remain a non NFA firearm is to never remove the birds head grip. If you don't believe this, check with mossburg or the ATF
No it is not. The letter (which is not binding law) says it is only for the Shockwave as it comes from the factory. Any changes “would be subject to review.” It still meets all criteria of a firearm.
