Halo's ODST armor or even its standard UNSC Marine armor are *VERY* possible forms of protection we can expect to see in the future. Lightweight plates that cover most of the body to protect against gunfire and shrapnel. Right now in the US we just have helmet and a flak vest (with plates), maybe some extra shoulder pieces and groin pieces but they're not standard. Seeing not only helmet and flak, but also shoulder, groin, knee/shin, and forearm plates become standard would be awesome as long as they were capable of protecting the wearer while remaining lightweight. Normal field load is about 90 lbs of gear right now, so to increase armor plating coverage on somebody's body to that extent would be difficult. Shame we don't have recharging shields

Yeah, this is pretty neat, it'll be interesting to see if this product makes it to the mainstream. One thing that I do disagree with Mat on was when he was talking about shooting stances, as for as I'm aware most modern stances actually have you face your chest down ranges to have the most armor possible exposed.

Also, bear in mind that even though knights’ armors were expected to handle swords and blunt weapons, that doesn’t mean the same physics don’t apply to bullets. Heck, I’ve heard of heavy padded gambesons from the time that were known to stop arrows. Imagine if you made one with Kevlar!

Also, bear in mind that even though knights’ armors were expected to handle swords and blunt weapons, that doesn’t mean the same physics don’t apply to bullets. Heck, I’ve heard of heavy padded gambesons from the time that were known to stop arrows. Imagine if you made one with Kevlar!
