There is a screw in the muzzle break, you loosen it, then screw the break in or out, then you tighten the screw.

@DemolitionRanch
I also wonder if the plates being literally on top of one another in that final .50 shot would've given a different result. Probably not, but...
YES!
You'd probably have massive internal bruising/bleeding from the trauma of a projectile moving at somewhere around 3,000 ft/s and then stopping within a few inches. But it'd still be cool to see the damage.

I literally just received my A1 plates I ordered from Armored Republic today. My first thought was that they were very heavy and I almost regretted getting them, but after this video I'm just going to go to the gym and work on my squats. Worth the extra weight!
Hell ya man! Highly recommend going on a long ruck with your plate carrier/kit on, it will help you get used to it like how you wear in new shoes.
Nothing wrong with quality steel armor if that's what's in the budget and you don't need to carry them long distance. I think it just depends on how you forsee yourself using them. At least in my opinion.
RMA 1155 level IV ceramics are $144 per plate. NIJ certified etc. 8lbs per plate.

Props on the tactical third hand reload!
Thanks for the review of the new A3 plates. They definitely trade a lot of protection and spall containment to reduce the weight. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me though, if you want light weight just go with full UHMWP plates, about the same level of protection, same weight, cheaper. They would be much thicker though. Still it's nice to see them innovating.

Matt, I've always wondered how putting level 3a soft armor behind a hard armor plate would behave. Does the metal plate that fails to stop a round it's not rated for slow the bullet down, or deform the bullet enough for the soft 3a body armor to stop it. Find out for us! If it works it might be a way to be more protected without adding much weight.
Steel does not behave like ceramic, steel would deform the bullet but it would be mostly intact. Soft layer would have done the same job as if bullet would be comming without steel (maybe deformation and slower speed would benefit). Ceramic is ligher but more fragile, it decipates energy from the bullet to itself (therfore shattering) which slows significantly but not catch bullet. Thats why ceramic plates use soft armor backer. Ceramic does same and better job as steal but is lighter at cost of fragilency
Can work. Oxyde tested 2000s era russian 6B23
Basically à quarter inch thick hardened steel in a kevlar sleeve and followed by krvlar soft pannel
He shot an AP black tip 308
Poerced steel and was stopped by the aramid behind it. Almost went trough but still did got stopped.
So, something less hardcore than a balcktip 308 would have been stopped with more safety margin
Level 3a behind PE level 3 stopped green tip. I tested it on my channel if you are interested. 👍
Mixing armors interesting
yes that is how that works, many plate carriers are built to run soft armor backing, with a plate in front of it, and it does increase threat level. most of the us military uses that set-up
That AR 3+ plate is a beast. Definitely saving them for the future 💪🏼
The charging handle might be aggravating but a good childproofing option especially if you're traveling. I would definitely purchase a spare to keep in the grip though. Loved the third hand reload too.

Matt’s really good at throwing awkward things. The quadcopter, skeet discs and now this shotgun spear into the printer.
I would really recommend to try a 7mm mag. In my experience, it penetrates about the best I’ve seen. It’s very similar ballistics as a 338 but smaller bullet…… 160 gr. 3000ish fps.
And a 338 Lapua pushes a 250 grain at similar speed. Those terminal ballistics aren't remotely similar.
😂😂😂
@@JohnTheRecoilJunkie apparently you’ve never heard of bullet diameter, length and density before.

@@JohnTheRecoilJunkie but technically wouldn’t a smaller bullet go faster than a fat bullet?

That damn $900 Vortex sight making you miss a lot of those shots 😉😂
Haha love your take on ‘office space’ for the start piece
I dont think the Lynx is supposed to kick that hard?
Didnt it have an adjustable muzzle break or somesuch to mitigate it to something that can be fired without a bipod or am I thinking of another gun?
Well, technically, it was built in a way to be able to fire without bipod, and you can do it, although... accuracy is probably not a thing, and i would not say it kicks THAT hard either, because if you'd try the same with a Barett, it just knocks you down, the Lynx though makes it possible to do such things
yeah he doesnt have the muzzle brake adjusted correctly
I wonder if the charging handle is meant to be put into the grip after use as a safety feature. Still seems like a weird design with how easily it falls out
also seems like a good way to disable a gun should you need to put it down
Beautiful mix of office space and a little bit of God bless America

Everyone
Who doesn’t?
Love the "Office Space" printer sequence
This is actually a little concerning for AR500 the company. Their quality control is all over the place.
So long as it isn't below the minimum tolerances having a batch run higher isn't a big deal. It can also be because when you run out of a particular material you can substitute up but not down, which might put you over and increase cost of production but still be the better choice financially when compared to delayed production and missing order fulfilment. Used to work in quality control for factory production and this kind of thing was pretty commonplace when working with graded materials.
Basically yes in many instances going over tolerances can ruin a product but when it comes to situations like this where it only makes the product better it makes no sense to scrap the batch, so it isn't necessarily bad quality control or something that was missed to allow a higher quality batch to pass inspection and go to market, it is highly likely to have been noticed but just put through because it has no negative impact on the product
The 4th plate was shot in the exact same place twice, he never shot a clean one with ap

Hey Matt thanks for bringing back the 50cal
The fact that their newest plate had a fragment pass through the coating when shooting the .45ACP is enough for me to pass on their products. The risk of that fragment hitting a vital area is too much of a risk to take, in my opinion
The plates going to be in a plate carrier. You're good
@@justintime753 So...even with that variable of it being in a plate carrier, can you predict or accurately calculate the odds of a bullet fragment of that size being stopped once it has already gone through the coating on the plate? I would think not. It only takes that one time for a bullet fragment to lodge itself in a vital area for you to lose your life. And given the demonstration that Matt provided, I'd still pass even though it's their "latest and greatest"
